Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Insomnia wasn't something that really ever struck Julius. Perhaps nothing had ever affected him enough to keep the male up at night. However, there were nights where he was restless, just days where the prosecutor found himself unable to sleep. On nights like these, the male often found himself forgoing sleep (caffeinated tea was truly mankind's greatest invention) and headed for the rooftops. A little exertion of energy might help.[break][break]
As the male opened the door, his eyes spotted a brunette in a wheelchair, Oscar Brown, a fellow tenant. Julius had even used his services a few times when his laptop or phone acted weird. His price was reasonable enough and the fact that he was very close also made it easier to reach him. Although due to the prosecutor's job...he usually made things appear urgent and has also tried to treat Oscar to a few meals out of guilt.[break][break]
"Am I...interrupting?" Not that there was anyone else on the roof but well..perhaps Oscar wanted to have the roof to himself. Julius could just head back to his apartment and read a book or even take a walk if that was the case. Almost nervous of intruding on the other, Julius started to close the door just enough so that they can still talk to each other, his feet still inside the building rather than out on the rooftop.
note: made a few assumptions so totally hmu if you want any edits
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
One of the most beautiful places in New Paris was that of his rooftop building on a night where the stars looked like gems glistening against the sea. They shined so bright it could inspire hope in anyone that wanted it, and Oscar found himself more often then not spending his nights wishing upon the stars like a child in a book. It made him laugh at times, yet the wunderlust he felt when looking out into the vast skies was overbearing and often had tiny tears well up in his eyes. Life did feel unfair at times, but Oscar knew he had to push through it, he was a strong man and wouldn't let his lack of walking keep him back forever.
He was lost in thought as he aimlessly gazed into the night, the voice of Julius a fellow resident brought, Oz back to reality. He smiled and turned around, “No...I'm just looking at the stars before attempting to sleep soon.”
The two had exchanged business before and Oscar was always willing to help Julius since he didn't bring any trouble around. The pair got along because they respected each other and knew their boundaries, it also helped that he would treat Oscar to meals every now and then as thanks. Reaching up into the sky he stretched but also attempted to pluck the stars themselves out one by one. Oz let out a loud exhale of air as his shoulders had become stiff. Honestly time was fickle and the man in the wheelchair didn't even realize that it had been at least an hour since he was up here.
“The stars are always amazing up here, you know... But I'm guessing you can't sleep?” A simple question that Oscar already knew the answer to in truth, it was obvious, normally he was the only one up here at this time of night and the solitude never phased him, yet it was nice to share the beauty of the cosmos above with his friend.
[newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:9px;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-family:verdana;margin-top:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:9px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconbl]padding:15px;height:100px;width:100px;border:1px solid #777;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconimage]-moz-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconh]-moz-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;opacity: 0;[/newclass] [newclass=.iconh:hover]-moz-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-webkit-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;-o-transition: all 0.92s ease-in-out;opacity:1;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] So Julius wasn't interrupting Oscar, that was good to know. With those words, the male stepped out onto the rooftop, quietly closing the door behind him in order to not disturb the peaceful scenery. Gray eyes watched as the other stretched up to take hold of a visible star. It reminded of himself as a child often mistaking airplanes for stars in the night until he noticed that it was moving. That wasn't to say stars were not visible in the city but they were certainly harder to find in his opinion. Then again, Julius had never exactly left this city before either, perhaps that was just par for the course.[break][break]
The comment about the stars earned the other a small tilt of the head, his face remaining in their usual neutral state. Were they really? Again, it wasn't like the young Vesper would know. Not only did he lack the experience of looking at the stars from other areas but he also lacked the interest. The stars were nothing more than something to look at. Julius gave a small nod to the question before walking over to the wheelchair. He wondered if Oscar couldn't sleep or he just liked looking at the stars. He had heard other tenants commenting how they would see Oscar on the rooftop when they were heading home late at night. It wasn't really something Julius ever commented about though. Oscar was an adult and his work schedule was he to choose. As long as it worked for him, there was no reason to try to persuade the other. [break][break]
"What do stars look like...in other places?" he asked rather curious. Julius hardly ever found himself a conversationalist (not with how difficult it was for him to find the right words) but he did like seeing the passion in others. It was always interesting and it reminded him of why he did his job. He wanted to make sure harm wouldn't fall onto people who to achieve their goals without harming others. "Do...you do this..often?" If so then maybe Julius could come up here? Even if there was an elevator and Oscar could very well take care of himself, it would be nice to talk to someone when insomnia hits him. Not that his books didn't help.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
He pondered the question, do stars really change depending on where you look at them? The answer was technically no but it wasn't about the stars itself for Oscar, it was the experience. Embracing the brisk night's air and finding the answers you seek. It was freedom, the feeling of letting everything go and just being yourself, that was what star gazing meant. It fueled dreams, created hope although he didn't want to say as such because he doubted Julius nor really anyone would understand how he felt, after all he was different from all others.
Laughing he replied, “No all stars are the same.”
It was clear that he was hiding some truth behind what he said but Oz didn't want to seem crazy. The other question was one he was more comfortable giving his proper opinion on. “I try and come up here a few times a week, yeah. Sometimes daily, it depends. Being this high up gives me a sense of escape from the world and any problems.”
Oscar had always wondered if Julius job was stressful, in theory it seemed like it would be but Julius always seemed composed, like he knew what he was doing. Oscar admired that about him, “How's work been?”

[attr="class","nologicpost1"] All the stars were the same? Well...theoretically speaking Oscar was right. Stars by themselves were hardly distinct and people mainly only know them by their locations, right? Wasn't that how constellations work? Or was there more to it? Again, Julius would not really know. [break][break]
Problems? Julius blinked tilting his head in order to get a better look at his companion as if doing so would reveal these problems to him. Unfortunately, that was not how reality worked...even with the discovery of magic. Should he ask then? Would he be able to help though? Julius was hardly someone one could go to for comfort. However, maybe he can think of a solution? Would that help? Although asking for help could be hard and he did not want to embarrass Oscar either. Before the magi could make a decision, his nightly companion voiced a question.[break][break]
"Busy," he answered with a small nod. "But...not bad..." not really. It was a bit sad that it was busy as it meant that there were more victims but it almost meant that there were more chances of putting dangers to society away. A few of his recent cases had become more sensitive than usual with domestic abuse involved and another was reopening an old murder case. The only concern he had was whether or not he was up for the task. After all, Julius was still hardly experienced let alone a veteran prosecutor. Still, he had no plans to show any weakness, his clients had enough problems on their hands, he had to put their worries to ease.[break][break]
Gray eyes that were on the sky slowly turned back over to his companion, "if you have...problems...you can tell..." he stated as his eyes shifted over to the ground in contemplation, "if...you want...or...if you have someone...to talk to..." then it was fine. As long as Oscar had someone. Still unable to truly look at the brunette, the prosecutor looked back up to see what might have seemed like a star...until red lights flickered.[break][break]
A plane.[break][break]
"Have you...ever wished...for something?" It felt like a strange question but it did make Julius wonder with how his life had become recently. He became a magi because there was something he had desperately wished for: his parents' murderer facing justice. However, it did make him wonder, why him? Io had said there was something in his star seed but surely everyone in the world must have a wish right? People who were more desperate than he was such as seeing a loved one dying in front of them or whose life was nothing more than a tragedy.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
“I'm glad things are busy, beats having nothing to do.” Chuckling a bit his eyes matched Julius's as he nodded. Oscar appreciated the gesture and offer for help however he didn't reply. Choosing to ignore what he said out of pride even if it came off rude. He didn't need his help, nor did he need anyone's help, it had been years since he truly needed it.
The flicking red light as the plane crossed the darkened sky was still pretty and broke up scenery to bring Oscar back from any fantasy filled visions he has having while the conversation was unfolding. He took a moment to think about wishes, he did wish to be better, to be more normal...
“I wish I had working legs.....I guess that was obvious right. I'd do anything for that. I wish to fly in the sky, like a bird or a plane.” He sighed as he continued, his voice carrying through tones of pain as he started to slowly get more emotional. “I just wish I wasn't shackled to the ground so to speak, to be free is all I need. That's why I like it up here, the closer I am to the stars, the closer I am to capturing that feeling...I...Think so anyway.”
“And you?”

[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius had received and nod and nothing more. The prosecutor did not pursue as it was not in his place nor did he truly believe he was skilled enough in this area. His companion then answered his question stating what the prosecutor should have known all along. The other wanted a working pair of legs. He wanted to be able to move and become able-bodied. Julius never did learn the cause as he never asked but it was something he should have known when looking at the other. Then came his second wish which was to fly. A rather simple wish when one thinks about it wishes that people would have. Julius wondered what people around him would wish for. What did Alex want in his life? What did Bianca want? What about Sei? The list went on and on...wishes...something he had never once thought about simply because it had never occurred to him. [break][break]
The prosecutor gave a small nod even if he could not fully understand. What was it like to be shackled to a wheelchair and be unable to move? What was it like to not have control over oneself? Julius was unsure if he would be able to handle it should that happen to him, which really spoke to Oscar's strength.[break][break]
Gray eyes blinked at the question that the raven-haired male should have probably expected. His own wish..."I...don't have any..." well not anymore. The wish he had was already granted but then again...he had never thought of it as a wish, just a want. A desire to see something happened. "I...I once wanted...the man..that killed my parents...to go to...jail. A prosecutor...made it happened...recently." Or rather a magical entity that caused a chain of events for that prosecutor to obtain that guilty verdict. Although that wasn't really something Julius could say for numerous reasons. It felt strange though, for that to be the only desire he had but he did not find himself minding it either. But that would probably appear weird wouldn't it? Then again, a wish was something one wanted but could not achieve, they need the aid of others and Julius had received enough help in his life as it was. He did not wish to be a burden. [break][break]

What Julius said made Oscar feel bad, he didn't know off his past but this brief insight showed part of his past to him and Oscar knew that there was pain there. I mean who wouldn't have some sort of baggage from their past with them? But He was glad because justice was given to the guilty party and It made Oz feel a little bit at ease knowing that Julius had that closure.
The breeze was lovely this time of night and Oscar was thoroughly enjoying the conversation, it was a nice change to be able to talk with another instead of being alone. He tried to remember if he had been recently to the tower, Oz could remember as a child visiting it quite often when he moved into New Paris with his mother and father, but recently? “Not for a long time, too many people for my liking. I would like to go see it someday again though.”
“Ever been to Dreamland?” Maybe a more childish question but Oscar wondered if Julius had a more fun and childish side that he didn't know of. He was curious about how Julius spent his time outside work, or the apartment complex, Oz rarely saw him around town but then again he didn't really get out much.
“Do anything on your time off Julius? Any hobbies?”

[attr="class","nologicpost1"] "Going...between now and...the winter holidays...have fewer people..." at least from what Julius has heard anyway. He knew there were a few people who were interested in the Eiffel tower but certainly did not appreciate the number of tourists. He had been to the tower once in his life by Marcus but he had never exactly returned. It had been nice, the man taking him doing off-peak and while Julius did appreciate the view, he was still unsure of how he felt about the whole thing. The man had not only bought his ticket but treated him to dinner there as well. But the sight was certainly something. Julius simply never had any reason to go back there.[break][break]
Dreamland...the amusement park. "Once...as a child." He couldn't exactly remember why he had gone there. Perhaps it was for a birthday party. In truth, he couldn't say he remembered much about the establishment and even if he did, it had most likely changed a lot. It was this time that one would ask the other if they had been there right? Yet, before Julius can find the right words, Oscar had asked him about his hobbies or at least past times.[break][break]
Gray eyes blinked, his eyes shifting between the sky, Oscar and the floor they stood on. Well, there was being a magi but Julius doubted that could count as a hobby. If anything, it was an obligation due to his deal with Io at worst and an extension of his duty to protect this city at best. Well, there was..."reading...I like to read..." and he was a part of a book club even if he rarely ever attended due to his busy schedule. Strangely enough, Julius could not even say it was because of his duty as a magi so much as being a prosecutor. The male would often find himself secretly taking his work home to read over the case or review evidence. He honestly admired people like Marcus who can balance between his work and social life.[break][break]
"Have you...been to Dreamland..or have hobbies?" Oh wait...that was probably computer huh? "Not related...to your job."
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Hobbies related not related to his job? Oscar didn't really, unless you would count looking at the stars on top of the apartment. But it was more a way to clear his mind so it seemed like a cop out answer that was too obvious to be right. “I enjoy my work, star gazing In a sense if you could what I do star gazing. When I was younger I liked playing baseball, American baseball is still fun to watch now and then again.”
He sounded so boring trying to explain its just in truth he never really thought of taking time off and enjoying things. He was working constantly to support himself, living out of home was hard, paying bills was hard, just being a grown up was hard. Julius knew of these hardships so Oz didn't need to explain it. “We should go see the tower sometime then, these sights are much better when you have company.”
Oscar suggested they hang out more, Julius was the type of person, Oz really liked talking with because he always made him think. Not many people could stimulate or ask questions, it was more like no one showed interest enough to ask normally. Most saw Oscar as a grumpy guy that was disabled, part of it was true, anyone would be grumpy if there were people that saw him as a lesser being and that's what was the root of most of his problems. Yet for the moment, he didn't want to ruin the amazing scenery and the conversation afoot.
“I'm sorry about your parents...Was that the reason you became a prosecutor?” He didn't mention it before but it felt right to say it now.

[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius gave a nod, a job as a hobby. He had once tried to use that as an answer only to receive a rebuttal. He wondered if that was because the person he was talking to simply could not link the two or if there was something inherently different about the two jobs he and Oscar had. The male was unsure what one would consider stargazing. Was it simply looking up at the sky or was it studying it with a telescope? He decided not to voice the question and instead merely listened. Baseball was the last one. He knew that there were many parents who signed their children up for a sports team, he wondered if that was how Oscar had started playing baseball? And if he truly loved the sport...Julius made sure not to allow his eyes to wander over to the wheelchair.[break][break]
Gray eyes blinked as the owner glanced over at his companion, mouth somewhat agape. It wasn't as if Julius had never been invited somewhere but he would be lying if he said it stopped surprising him. The idea simply never occurred to him and so hearing it..he supposed. It wasn't like he would mind Oscar's company, in fact, he was quite content with it. Although, he wasn't sure if the sights would objectively change just because Oscar had company. Julius soon closed his mouth and gave the other a small nod. "Lets...do that..." the two never spent that much time getting to know each other and well, maybe Oscar can help Julius with his own social skills. From what he heard, the man rarely stepped out of his apartment but yet...he never seemed to doubt his words very much. So yes, that sounded like a good plan, who knows it might even be a little fun. Maybe. They weren't exactly books but the sights last time had been rather breathtaking. The two would just have to set some time for it, which shouldn't be hard either.[break][break]
Julius shook his head, "Don't be..." he had long accepted it. Was it hard during the first few years? Quite, he remembered breaking down and it was only Alex's hold that had kept him together. The realization that they were never going to go back home and the memories of his parents' voices slowly fading away over the years. The only thing he had of them was a few photos he kept in his apartment. The least he could do was remember the faces of the two people who brought him into this world. However, the years had helped him cope and he realized that he never had any wounds because he did not have that many memories of his parents. Alex had essentially become something of a parent to him or if not at least a guardian. And eventually, Julius stopped understanding the pity that was sent his way. He never felt as if he really missed anything even if at times his mind did wonder whenever he crossed paths with a family. Yet, he grew up fine...he became a prosecutor. If anything, Julius was more worried about Alex who had a much deeper connection with their parents. His hatred for the criminal was not so much because the man had killed his parents as much as he had hurt Alex.[break][break]
"But yes....that...was why..." the prosecutor confirmed, "I....wanted...to be a cop...at first...like my parents..." but it didn't exactly work out. Julius found himself to not be very athletic and eventually found a different path. Maybe it was to continue some kind of legacy as well, something to make him feel close to them. However, for the most part, it was just..."I didn't...want to...make anyone wait...like I did." People needed to know that justice would be served, that those who had commit harm would be punished. That their pains were heard and there were people out there who would give them that closure and knowledge.[break][break]
The man had essentially dedicated his life to that goal.[break][break]
"Why computers?" Julius asked his eyes trailing back over to his conversation partner. Surely there must be a reason, right? Then again, maybe he was just fond of it. Then something else occured to Julius..."Tea...or coffee?"
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
He moved himself closer to the railing of the rooftop as Oscar looked below to see speeding lights from cars and flickering dots from street lamps. He understood what Julius was saying and felt it was rather honorable for him to think like that, although his words gave, Oz the impression that while Julius missed his parents he had been given closure and moved on somewhat.
Oscar yawned and stretched yet again, it was still early for him during the night however he felt more at ease and relaxed then normal. Perhaps it was due to having the other man around and sharing thoughts? He didn't know but his eyes met the others as he spoke, “My father worked with computers, I just followed suite. Guess it was in the blood for both of us.” Yes Julius didn't become a police officer, however, his line of work related to the cops somewhat so the statement was half true at least.
“I prefer coffee. Tea just seems like flavored water to me.” He laughed softly at the thought, coffee in essence was also just flavored water but the alluring aroma of a perfectly made latte with quality ingredients was one that indulged the senses of Oscar. A weak spot if you so would call it as such, “I really dislike the instant stuff though. Full of sugars, bad for you.”
This statement was ironic to say the least, Oscar a man who had a terrible diet and sleeping patterns talking about health and what was good for the body....
“There's this nice cafe down the block I normally go to every morning. If you want to join sometime?”
His invitation felt more like a question of; would you come and with me sometime?

It was almost funny really, even though he barely knew his parents outside of the stories he heard, he would be lying if he said they didn't influence him. He truly was his parent's son. "I have a brother...who is also interested...in computers..." or something like that. He wasn't sure if it was exactly the same thing. There were different aspects of computers such as software, hardware, the actual parts and who knows what else. Still, "Maybe..I could introduce...you two...sometime?" it might not be a bad idea. "Only if...you want to..." it might be nice for Oscar to meet someone who has a similar hobby to his own and Alex might find an occupation once he graduates. If everything went smoothly, both parties might benefit from this but of course, Julius wasn't going to push it. It was merely an idea that has been in his head for quite a while now but he never exactly found a good time to voice it. Hopefully, he had not chosen the wrong time.[break][break]
Coffee...Julius gave a small nod. In truth, he had quite a distaste for coffee after his first time trying it. Still, it shouldn't be hard to prepare, there should be instant coffee at the grocery sto-..or not. Julius gave a nod understanding health concerns even if he did not exactly follow them. His food cabinet and refrigerator was stuffed with instant food if only because it was easier. To think, once upon a time he was able to cook something of a decent meal. Well, it wasn't like anyone had to know right?[break][break]
A cafe down the block? Which one was he talking about? Hopefully, it wasn't one that was too busy. Seeing as this was Oscar, it probably was not too busy. Neither of them seemed to be able to stand crowds very well even if Julius never fully understood Oscar's reasoning for it. "If...it is no...trouble for you..." he stated. If Oscar wished to have time to himself, as the other tenants seemed to often hint at, Julius did not wish to rob that from him. Even if he did not mind talking to Oscar too much, and the man did not seem to mind the slowness in his speech.[break][break]
It felt strange though..making not only one but two plans in one night. Again, Julius didn't mind it as spending time with Oscar was never something he dreaded. He simply was not a very active person. Gray eyes looked at his conversation partner who seemed to find the cars below to be interesting. There was a temptation to reach out to the other in fear that he may fall off the railing even if it did not make sense. He was sitting down in a wheelchair, after all, there wasn't anything to worry about.[break][break]
"Should...we...go back..inside?" he found himself suggesting nonetheless.

This was the first time Oscar had heard of a brother from Julius, then again, he never really asked about his family. Assuming he didn't live in the apartment complex too, otherwise they would of met by now must of meant Julius was but the baby in the family. He thought it was interesting since Julius while quite was rather mature and from passing by conversation, you could of assumed he was the older sibling. Perhaps twins? It didn't really matter but, Oz was indeed curious to say the least.
“Sure I'd be glad to meet him. What's his name?”
A sigh escaped his lips as Oscar pulled out his phone, turning it on again and being pestered by the notifications from emails and text messengers from customers old and new alike. He checked the time and agreed it would most likely be best to head in and get some sleep. Nodding he made his way over to the elevator, pressing the button to call it up to the floor they were on. “Eight in the morning ill be out the front getting ready to leave to head down the street and for some coffee, it's only a...5minute walk or so.”
The elevator came up and opened, making his way Oscar held the door open for Julius. “That is if you want to come, no rush, I go everyday after all. If you want to join just meet down there.”
Oscar gave a small smile as silence grasped the room as the elevator traveled down to his floor, he was above Julius so when it stopped he gave his final goodbyes for the moment and followed up with a quick “See you another time.” As the doors began to closing, Oscar waved as he wheeled himself down the corridor and to his apartment by throwing his hand up.

[attr="class","nologicpost1"] There was a sense of relief at Oscar's acceptance, "Alex. Alex Vesper...he's...amazing...I think..you two...will get along..." if only because Alex seemed to be able to get along with everyone. Really, outside of their last names and looks, it would be very difficult to see any resemblance between the two. To even compare himself to Alex was a folly all on its own.[break][break]
Julius watched as his fellow tenant checked his phone before agreeing to go back inside. The two headed to the elevator and head the other gave a specific invitation to the cafe. They would just meet there before heading off to work. It didn't sound too bad, it would just mean less instant coffee and going to a cafe. It wasn't as if the male couldn't afford such a life as much as he just never had any reason. He gave a nod silently agreeing to see Oscar at the cafe tomorrow. The rest of the ride had been silent, with Oscar gracing him with a smile and a small wave once they reached his floor. Julius lifted his hand and gave a small nod before the door closed.[break][break]
It was only when he had laid in bed with his mind calmer due to the conversation did it occurred to Julius that they could have just walked together. Wasn't that what normal people usually do? However, it was too late and the male soon closed his eyes.[break][break]
The next day, he had gone to the cafe Oscar mentioned, it wasn't that hard to find as it was truly close by. In fact, Julius was quite sure that he had passed the cafe many times without ever thinking much about it. Once inside, he gave an order of some caffeinated tea and a bagel before heading over to the table Oscar was sitting at. "Did you..wait long?" Looking at the clock, Julius had been a minute later than the usual agreed time. He can only hope Oscar had not arrived too early with his cup of coffee.[break][break]
The prosecutor set his food and drinks down before sitting across from his fellow tenant. "What day...are you free...for the...Eiffel tower?"
