Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
She hated this. The taste of blood in her mouth, the rush of adrenaline and the fear in her stomach that gnawed at her like a hungry wolf...this feeling of battle, she hated above all else. [break][break]
"Back off goddammit!" Ayakka yelled, stringing another arrow in her bow and aiming at the doglike youma that crouched before her. Deep down, she knew. Let this one go it'll attract more...or worse. Worse it might go find someone to hurt, to kill. And she couldn't let that happen. That wasn't what a good person would do. That was why she chased when she saw the youma slink off into the night. [break][break]
In the corner of her mind, Ayakka knew that this was much easier said then done. Face your enemy, kill your enemy, move on rinse and repeat. That was easy...for other Magi. For a plethora of reasons, other Magi could gloss over the little details that Ayakka felt she could never escape. How they whimper when they're wounded. How they cry out when they feel afraid. How their eyes shined brightly when she looked into them, trying to make herself deal that finishing blow. ...It didn't help that it was never quick for her. No one shot kills no, nothing easy like that. Even for one youma it was always a sustained battle of attrition, wearing them down until her arrows could finally take that last bit of life saving heat from them and send them into a hypothermia induced coma. ...As it was she hadn't yet killed any either. Maybe...maybe she could just...leave it here? It was snowing after all so...she didn't have to push it too far? The crack of footsteps in snow snapped the girl out of her wishful thinking as she wheeled towards the sound of the intruder and aimed her bow a bit unsteadily at the newcomer. [break][break]
"Step out into light where I can see you!" Ayakka yelled, fixing her eyes on the newcomer. "Last warning! Her breath came out in short, sharp breaths as they fogged in the worsening weather. It had been a miracle that she had found the youma much less fought it down in the storm, but hey perseverance was one of her many virtues right? "Friend or foe?" [break][break]
Ringo stabbed into another youma. He waited until the grief seed dropped on to the ground before he finally lowered his lance. This was a rather bizarre winter storm. Usually it would just snow and it'd be harder to walk around. However, this time around, there is youma all over the place. There was no use to ponder. He had no clues, no evidence. This could just be a bad day but the fact they are attacking during this time is still something to be concerned about. More information can be collected later. There is still youma about.
"Back off goddammit!" The cry got the armored Ringo's attention as he started to travel as fast as he can. He quickly transformed into his armored state and skidded to a stop as he saw a girl being attacked by a dog like youma...or was it? Ringo took notice that the youma was wounded. "Step out into light where I can see you!"
"...huh?"
"Last warning!" Ringo further stepped into the light where she could get a better view of her. He had his hands raised though that isn't exactly encouraging since he wanted to keep a hand on the lance in case the youma would retaliate..or the fact he is covered in armor. "Friend or foe?"
"Calm down! I'm a friend..." He looked to the youma. "I've been trying to stop them." He motioned to the dog.
She couldn't call him a power ranger...could she? Ayakka bow string slacked as she eyed the...man? She didn't know what was under there. At the very least, Ayakka was caught off guard when he stepped into the light. Something about his armor screamed, hero of justice in all caps...at least that was how Ayakka saw it. [break][break]
"Calm down! I'm a friend..." Ayakka squinted suspiciously at the armored man, though she had to admit her apprehension was already leveling out. "I've been trying to stop them."[break][break]
"Oh. Oh that makes things a lot easier." Ayakka sighed in relief, stowing away her bow. "Well Mr. Super Sentai, you came at a great time." Pointing out at the blistering snowstorm, Ayakka continued. "As you've no doubt noticed there's a storm of these little things running out there. And this one here... Ayakka pointed at the youma panting on the ground. "Dragged me into the middle of this...and I'm kinda stuck...." [break][break]
It was somewhat odd, this situation. Oddly enough, the snowstorm would actually make things easier for Ayakka...somewhat. She could offset her heat absorption drawbacks and even have an easier time disabling youma's. ...Except that was nothing to absorb any heat from...at all. Except the youma's, and they weren't exactly generous enough to let her steal some away without taking a finger or two. Which left her, in her worn out jeans and jacket, dashing through the snow after just one of these creatures. [break][break]
"Wanna team up? I'll even cough over most of the grief seeds if you want!" Ayakka held out her, doing her best not to ask the man if he liked cosplaying a little too much. "Name's Ayakka Atland, Mister.....?" Honestly though, she was perfectly fine calling him super sentai for the rest of his, or her, life. [break][break]
"Oh. Oh that makes things a lot easier." Phew, she was willing to talk. "Well Mr. Super Sentai, you came at a great time." ...Sentai? Ringo started to take a good look at himself. Did he really come off like that? "As you've no doubt noticed there's a storm of these little things running out there. And this one here..." She motioned to the dog. "Dragged me into the middle of this...and I'm kinda stuck...."
"Stuck, it looks wounded to me..." Ringo pointed out. She could just collect the grief seed right now...
"Wanna team up? I'll even cough over most of the grief seeds if you want!"
"Hm? Well sure...but you don't have to cough up most of them. Let's split them fifty fifty at least." Both of them needed clean Soul Gems by the end of the day.
"Name's Ayakka Atland, Mister.....?"
"Ah, you can call me Ringo." He started to walk on forward and with little mind to the youma's shape, stabbed into it. He pulled out the spear, a grief seed perfectly intact at the tip of it. Ringo gently pulled the grief seed from the tip and presented it to Ayakka. "Here you go."
Ayakka grinned. It was always nice giving someone a fitting nickname. Sometimes names didn't fit too well, and sometimes all they needed was a nice nickname. Life was, sometimes, simple like that. [break][break]
"Stuck, it looks wounded to me..." That was...yes that was true. Ayakka shiftily looked away from Ringo as she spoke. [break][break]
"Well, you just happened to come by at the right time. He was giving me a real good fight before I managed to pin a good hit on him." Mentally Ayakka scolded herself. Not only did that sound lame, but she was giving familiarity to a youma. A youma! It was trying to kill her earlier and now what, she was complimenting it and saying him! It, she should be calling the youma an it! It made it easier that way...[break][break]
Thankfull, the armored man seemed less like the type to take advantage of a situation and exploit it.[break][break]
"Hm? Well sure...but you don't have to cough up most of them. Let's split them fifty fifty at least." Ayakka visibly relaxed at the sound of that. That really helped, honestly. That really made it easier to get through and dodge a bullet.[break][break]
"Ah, you can call me Ringo." Apple? Ayakka smirked, thinking of another nickname she could call the guy. Ayakka opened her mouth, ready to introduce the world to Ringo's next nickname before he dug his spear dug into the youma. The word's died on her mouth as Ringo ended the doglike youma, impaling its grief seed on the end of his weapon. "Here you go." [break][break]
"Thanks." Right. That was a proper Magi was like. They couldn't bat an eye at this sort of thing. Not when they had a world to save. As it was, they owed a debt didn't they? So pay back a debt and save the world, everyone wins. Pocketing the offered grief seed, Ayakka did her best to stay calm. This wasn't the place to panic or yell or say something. Even if the sound of that spear killing the dog twisted her gut into knots, she had to get over it. You wanna take the lead then? I'm not much of a front line fighter."[break][break]
It was...the cowards way out. She knew that. But it was the only compromise she could think of. If he did the killing, if she just helped him...it would go by quicker. [break][break]
"Well, you just happened to come by at the right time. He was giving me a real good fight before I managed to pin a good hit on him."
"Okay." This girl was a touch strange but then again, who knows how many people are dragged into all of this. After all the desire to do good existed in a lot of people. He began to...well...take a look would be inaccurate what with a winter storm of Youkai about. They can't quite wander aimlessly in the falling snow after all.
"Thanks." Ringo nodded. "You wanna take the lead then? I'm not much of a front line fighter."
"Alright." It could very possibly be that she was a far-range fighter and got caught off guard. If Ringo thinks about it that way, she can help considering that, at the moment, Ringo doesn't have much in the way of far ranged attacks. "Let's go, stay close. We don't know if the snow might get more intense if the youma are behind this." Ringo started to walk on forward.
The guy sounded young. Not child young, no but like someone around her age. Ayakka wondered just what his face looked like under the steel mask he wore. Maybe there was a huge scar from a youma across his face, like outta some anime. Or maybe he looked like another normal person under all that. [break][break]
"Alright." He certainly didn't sound like a gruff fighter, at the very least. Certainly gave the air of someone that knew what he was doing though. "Let's go, stay close. We don't know if the snow might get more intense if the youma are behind this."[break][break]
"Roger." Ayakka turned her head side to side, scanning for any forms in the storm as she fell in behind the armored man. "So what got you wandering around in this sack of fun and snow? Chasing youmas' too? Or did you want to take a nice bracing walk?" Ayakka nervously chuckled to herself. "Me though? Grocery shopping. Stupid I know, but hey you gotta get some nog somehow. ...Course that's probably buried under a foot and a half of snow now...I don't even remember where I dropped it." [break][break]
God was it impossible to make heads or tails of where they were going. Ayakka cursed inwardly as trudged through the storm with Ringo in the lead. On the bright side, her party member was fairly easy to spot so there wasn't any real risk to getting separated. ...By the storm at least. [break][break]
"Roger." The girl began to follow him as they trecked through the snow. "So what got you wandering around in this sack of fun and snow? Chasing youmas' too? Or did you want to take a nice bracing walk?" Before Ringo could answer, she provided a chuckle. "Me though? Grocery shopping. Stupid I know, but hey you gotta get some nog somehow. ...Course that's probably buried under a foot and a half of snow now...I don't even remember where I dropped it."
"I'll pay for some eggnog when we end hunting youma for the day." Ringo offered. "As for what I'm doing here, yeah chasing youmas. I need to make sure they're not attacking anybody and plus I need the grief seeds for myself and others." He began to take a look around. They were, at this point, in a neighborhood, not too many people willing to go out but none the less he still needed to be cautious for any wanderers like that Halloween night.

What a nice, exceptionally well armored person. Ayakka nodded to herself, this was the kind of person someone wanted as a comrade in battle. Also a person that was hopefully willing to overlook, or unable to see, her glaring weakness in a fight to the death. Mainly the death part. [break][break]
"I'll pay for some eggnog when we end hunting youma for the day."[break][break]
"Oh!" Ayakka almost jumped at the idea. "One condition! We gotta get some nog together, knock some glasses back you know?" She wasn't one hundred percent sure that was how that phrase worked but...eh. Language was subjective wasn't it? [break][break]
"I'll pay for some eggnog when we end hunting youma for the day." Ringo offered. "As for what I'm doing here, yeah chasing youmas. I need to make sure they're not attacking anybody and plus I need the grief seeds for myself and others." Ayakka nodded. That made perfect sense. More sense then grabbing your paycheck, running excitedly into a blinding snowstorm then getting lost in it and dropping your reward in favor of chasing an otherworldly monster. But hey she met someone new and they were willing to help! So...not a net loss then. [break][break]
"You ever think the youma have an off day? Like, I don't know, a holiday or something? Maybe, " The words on Ayakka's mouth died as she saw the shadow dart in from the left. "RINGO!" [break][break]
Instinct kicked in. Her powers flared up. What little heat existed around her rushed in as Ayakka leaped forward, shoulder tackling the youma and redirecting its course. A harsh grunt and a leap back, and Ayakka had drawn an arrow and notched it as she watched the youma recover from the unexpected attack. [break][break]
"Guess break time is over huh?" She really, really hoped that the howls around them were from the snowstorm. It would be a welcome change of pace. [break][break]
"One condition! We gotta get some nog together, knock some glasses back you know?"
"Hm?" Ringo tilted his head. Well, he supposed he had to spend time with her after his usual scouting is done.
"You ever think the youma have an off day? Like, I don't know, a holiday or something? Maybe, "
"I don't think so...evil sadly never really re-."
"RINGO!" A youma rushed from its hide spot and clung to the side of the building after a harsh tackle from Ayakka. For someone who claimed she isn't one for close range she has a mean rush. A skinny werewolf esque creature snarled as it recovered a touch. "Guess break time is over huh?"
"Yeah-!" Ringo rushed forward. The werewolf lunged and tried to dig its claws into Ringo however the armor managed to resist the slashes. It left only scratches at best as Ringo swung his lance. While a weapon mainly for piercing, the swing of such a pole arm is also ideal for the shattering of bones...actually do youma even have proper anatomy? Regardless the youma collapsed on the ground. Ringo looked to Ayakka to see if she could finish it off a distance.
