Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
Erica wouldn't be a proper starry-eyed girl if she didn't have an interest in stars. Indeed the planetarium had been one of the top tourist spots she wanted to go to ever since she arrived in New Paris. If not for the unfortunate mishaps of her first week there she would have long paid the place a visit and gotten to see the technological advances the city had put into the latest in projection technology. She was expecting quite an impressive show to say the least.
Fortunately it seemed she had picked a good day to come and see the planetarium. There were quite a few people but not too many that the ambience of the venue was lost to the sounds of idle chatter. If she was not mistaken then this place was an affiliate of the university. It was a good thing then that she had to delay her trip there. As part of sorting out all of her business in the last week or so, she was able to get her student card and pass. As a special transfer student she enjoyed some privileges within the school and its affiliated organizations. In some cases a discount. In others, a free pass altogether. The university valued its precious prodigies and Erica would make sure to take full advantage of those perks.
That being said, her special student privileges didn't cover cutting in line. And while there weren't too many people, she still underestimated the time it took quite a bit and just barely made it inside the projection room before it was promptly announced that the show was about to begin. As a result she found her self taking a seat on one of the chairs further away from the center of the room. Well, if the show was really as amazing as they say then it shouldn't matter so much where she sat.
It didn't take too long from there. Just a minute or two after Erica settled down, what few lights that were kept open to allow people to find their seats were finally dimmed and turned off completely, rendering the room pitch black. The sounds of whispers and movements coming from the other people in the room halted and there was complete silence. The presentation was about to start.
A raggedy looking man was standing outside a grocery store with a sign hanging around his neck that said, "Will help you load your groceries for free!" The people who went in and out of the store gave him odd looks but he continued to stand there motionless as though he was immune to their judging gazes. To be honest, the people weren't exactly at fault. The way the man was dressed, you could say he was pushing eccentricity to its limits. He wore a huge pile of ragged cloaks, so much so that you couldn't really make out his exact build anymore. His pants, gloves, and hat were equally shabby and patched. His head was wrapped up so much with this long dirty scarf that you couldn't see any part of his face. Dark goggles covered his eyes as well so you couldn't tell where he was looking. A close inspection of his feet would also reveal that he appeared to be wearing no shoes, with his feet merely wrapped in dirty cloth. If anyone would hazard a guess as to who he was, most of them would probably say he was some hobo who wandered in there from Louvre.
Most of the people who visited the store so far that morning bought only a few things, carrying their purchases home in eco bags and the like. It wasn't until about a couple of hours or so later that an old man in his fifties would park in front of the store with his dated car and enter the store to buy his monthly groceries. He would come out of the store after half an hour pushing a shopping cart nearly filled to the brim with food items. It was at this point that the previously motionless man with the sign around his neck would suddenly spring to life, shuffling over to the old man who had just opened the trunk of his car to begin loading his purchases.
"What in the-"
At first the old man was startled. It seemed he thought the raggedy man was just some sort of weird mannequin standing outside the store and didn't think it was actually a person. It didn't help that his eyesight wasn't the best. It took a few seconds of the raggedy man pointing vigorously at the sign hanging on his neck before the old man managed read it and understand what was up. He raised his eyebrow, not really believing some poor looking hobo was willing to help for free, but a minor jolt of pain on his back courtesy of old age would convince him to take a chance. Even if he did get charged for it, he needed help and he sort of felt bad for the guy standing there all day.
"Alright fine, you can help. But I'm keeping a close eye on you."
The raggedy man nodded enthusiastically without saying a word and started loading the groceries in the car. The old man wondered if he was mute. That would explain why he was communicating with signs. He felt even worse for him and decided in his head that he'd give the poor guy something for his trouble. When the deed was done, he reached for his wallet but before he could even open it, the raggedy guy vigorously gestured his refusal to take any payment, waving both his hands. Still puzzled and scratching his head, the old man at least thanked him before getting in his car and driving home. Meanwhile the raggedy man returned to his post beside the store and stood there motionless once more.
A certain girl briefly glanced at the ragged hobo and smiled before turning her gaze back at a pocketbook she was reading to pass the time. Erica was sitting at a table outside a cafe right next door to the grocery store and had been there all morning. She was on her third or so cup of coffee. She had chanced upon that quaint little cafe not too long ago and found their brew to her liking. This wasn't the first time she would spend hours just hanging out there. Today however was a little special.
Her phone which was previously motionless on the table would suddenly hum as she received a new message. Her face would light up just a bit as she read the sender's name. It seemed it was about that time already and the person she was waiting to meet would be due to arrive soon. Erica put her book down for a moment and took a sip from her cup. The one coming was her senior supposedly. She wondered what kind of person they were and her thoughts wandered, unsure of what expectations she ought to have.
In the meantime, an old lady would come out from grocery store next door, pushing yet another heavily loaded shopping cart. The raggedy hobo would spring to life once again, offering his assistance to the elderly woman. The same semi-comical scene of trying the make the old lady understand would occur before he was finally allowed to help.
Watching this entire scene play out was Erica, her right hand still holding her cup as she continued to take a sip. Meanwhile her left hand was just out of sight on her lap, with her fingers moving peculiarly.

In exchange for this power to rid yourself of these interferances you speak of, you must uplift others whenever possible. You may not flaunt your capability over those you deem inferior. Keep your thoughts kind and instead, show them kindness and aid them. If you should refuse to do so, your magic will slowly corrupt you until you too, will become an agent of darkness. Collect and bring to me grief seeds. Then, I shall reward you." -- Moira [break] [break] SP. SKILL: [ QUEEN'S GAMBIT ] — To treat life and those around you as a game of chess is a special mindset indeed. And, as you should know, the Queen's Gambit is one of the most popular gambits known. A befitting name for you, don't you think? Okay, onward to the actual skill! With Queen's Gambit, you are capable of using minor teleknesis to move 'pawns' to your liking. Pawns, in this case, being innanimate obects. Of course, the focus is required to use the skill. And magic energy too. But there are requirements for lifting and maneuvering the pawns. One, a pawn must be touched prior. After being touched, a blue star symbol will appear on the item. Only visible to you. And two, you can only lift a certain weight with each rank (You can lift 40 pounds for starters. Then, per Rank, you can lift an extra 10+ pounds. ★ = 40 pounds, ★★ = 50 pounds, etc.). Finally, if an item you are using Queen's Gambit on takes damage you feel the same damage. In the case it is destroyed completely, you fall unconscious for 1 post!

ABILITIES
NAME: Creation D[break] CLASS: D[break] DESCRIPTION: Erica infuses an object with her magic and designates it as a core. Afterwards various materials in the surrounding area will be suddenly drawn to the core like a magnet, forming into a shape around it, typically humanoid to create a golem. At this rank the maximum size Erica can create is around the size of an adult of 6 ft. Erica's golems cannot move on their own and upon creation are merely statues that are as sturdy as defensive shields of the same rank. Their weakness is the core which if destroyed will cause the golem to just fall apart regardless of how much damage it has already taken. Conversely the golem will remain intact for as long as the core is unharmed and it has not yet taken sufficient damage to break it for its rank. At this rank she can create no more than 2 at a time. While the golem is magically enhanced to be sturdier than normal, it is still subject to the properties of the materials it was made from to some extent (e.g. a golem made of paper is more susceptible to fire and gets soggy and breaks more easily if it gets wet). At any time she can mentally deactivate the core of an existing golem so that she can create a new one.[break]

NAME: Puppet Strings D[break] CLASS: D[break] DESCRIPTION: Often used in concert with Creation, Erica conjures strings of light from her fingertips that latch on to her golems and allow her to manipulate them to do her bidding. It is this manipulation magic that grants them their strength, enabling them to lift things up to the weight of a car at this rank. This level of strength is divided equally among the number of targets Erica is currently manipulating, currently capping at 3 at a time at this rank. She can use this manipulation on other objects besides her golems however as the object may not be magically enhanced, the strength it can utilize is limited by the inherent sturdiness of the material it is made of (e.g. a plush toy would rip its arms off if it tried to lift the weight of a car). She can use this on living beings but only with their consent. Beings with magical ability or potential of the same rank as Erica can enjoy the enhanced strength if not add it to their own. Non-magical beings are again limited by what their own body can take. The strings of light are visible to those with magical perception up to a foot away from Erica's fingertips before becoming invisible. The max range of her strings is 10 meters at her current rank. She must be consciously manipulating her target for this magic to work. If she gets sufficiently distracted, then her target stops moving and if she gets knocked unconscious, her manipulation ends altogether.[break]
Born and raised in America, Erica Cypher was somewhat of a prodigy from a somewhat well off family. Skipping a few grades back home, she was presented with a rare opportunity to travel to New Paris as an exchange student in St. Elbandia, which led to the start of her new life in the French city. [break][break] Erica had always been unusually perceptive of things around her. She could see, hear, or feel things that other people could not. Not wanting to draw unnecessary attention to herself, she had always dealt with such situations gracefully and had successfully stayed out of any trouble at least until her last days back home. Upon arriving in New Paris however, her sixth sense kicked into overdrive and the unusual phenomena that occurred around her could no longer be ignored or avoided. [break][break] As she struggled to deal with these "interferences" to her wonderful exchange student life, a savior came in the form of one who referred to themselves as a Contractor. Their terms were simple enough. Adhere to the conditions of a contract and in exchange obtain access to a power that would enable her to eliminate the "interferences" in her life personally. Most people would have hesitated, but Erica figured that she already had one foot stepping over the border to this "new world" and so she decided that she might as well commit to it. [break][break] Accepting the contract, Erica suddenly found herself enjoying a new playground. No longer were those odd phenomena being a bother to her daily life. They were now all part of one big game and something to relieve her of her occasional boredom. As someone who had always held a position of power in her own little world, she resolved to obtain same in this new world too. The first step was to find other "players" on this chessboard.
