Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
After the incident had been over when Julius was home and away from others, the first thing he had done was call Alex. His heart pounding in his chest but it wasn't from the adrenaline of the chaos that had been his Halloween. No, it was from the fear and panic that had not ceased.[break][break]
Was Alex safe? Was Alex alright? Was Alex hurt? Was Alex at home? Was Alex outside?[break][break]
The constant questions pertaining to his brother constantly hounded at Julius as he stood there, breath stilled and waiting. Please pick up, just pick up Alex. Just pick up the phone so Julius would know. A click...a click that signalled to Julius that there was at least someone on the other side. A voice that told him it was Alex and Julius let out the breath he had held. He greeted his brother with his usual apathetic tone stating that he heard what had happened in the 7th arrondissement and wanted to know if Alex had been there. The two didn't talk much, because Julius's mind had honestly been exhausted, and promised to meet up the next day after Julius was finished with work and before Alex had his night class.[break][break]
Because Julius was registered to have been at the scene (as he had made the call to the police), Maurice had told him to take it easy. He didn't. He couldn't take it easy. Just because he was tired didn't mean that there were no investigations to look over or cases to prepare for. He had never been so thankful for caffeinated tea with four cubes of sugar before.[break][break]
When work was over, Julius had hurriedly walked out giving the briefest of goodbyes and not exactly waiting to hear Maurice gave his usual 'you did a good job today' or to scold him for not exactly taking it easy. He had someone he needed to see. Even if all logic would point out that Alex was at the very least not dead, the young prosecutor still needed to see it for himself. [break][break]
Just in case.[break][break]
His shoulders were stiff as he hurriedly walked over to the cafe they agreed to meet at. The one that was close to Alex's school so he would not be late for class. When gray eyes spotted his brother, there was a huge wave of relief. His shoulders relaxed as he walked over and took a seat. "Alex," he greeted his brother with a small nod, his eyes inspecting the male for any injuries. There weren't any...that was showing anyway. "How...was your Halloween?'
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
His brother called him the night it happened... The night he saw the skeletons... the night, he saw all those innocents getting hurt. He answered tried to play it cool, mostly for his own sanity, maybe it was just a bunch of guys in costume. But He did talk about needing everybody that was in danger... Did talk about.. how he was safe and already heading home thanks to the cops already at scene.
He hung up, headed home.. Collapsed on the floor exhausted, what just happened? Was... he going insane? Was all that just some sort of insane dream?! He walked to the mirror checking everything, yep yep he looked okay... Just.. What happened? He quickl washed up went to bed and blamed a bunch of tricksters pulling the ultimate prank, after all magic wasn't real.... right? right?
The next day, he agreed to meet his little brother, it had been a while and he missed the boy. Meeting up at the cafe is eyes met with those grey, he could just see relief? wash over his brother, there was such strong emotion he actually was stunned for a moment, before smiling and waving. "Julius!" He answered standing up, calmly sighing as his brother ran looking around, "You seem to be doing well." He answered with a joking voice, then the guy asked about Halloween. Their topic of the night... He stood there for a moment before calmly answering.. no lying... half lying. Breaking into a laugh, "Best Halloween, got pranked good! " He stopped his hearty laugh softening a bit, taking an almost gentle side. "A couple of people were hurt, they shouldn't have made it city wide... Really scared a lot of people, enough to get people to.. Hurt each other." He shook his head releasing a small breath, "How was your Halloween? I take it you were there? You seemed worried about me in that call!" He laughed once more, he felt mixture of comfortableness.... Not wanting to think about what Really happened...
Julius merely blinked not registering the joke that Alex had just made. While he wouldn't say he was looking all that bad (especially in comparison to yesterday night) he doubted he looked as good as he would like to. His clothes were most likely ruffled by the rush over and while he was hardly unpresentable, he could have definitely looked better. Gray eyes squinted for a moment before just deciding to nod. Saying anything contradictory might worry the older Vesper, which was something he wanted to avoid. He had moved out partially because that was what was expected but also because he did not wish to burden Alex anymore than he already has. He wasn't going to have his brother still be worried about him, he was twenty-four.[break][break]
A prank...Alex had thought it was a prank. Even more though was that his brother had been there somewhere and Julius...Julius hadn't been there to protect him. Had prioritized the people in front of him first. There was a wave of guilt because Alex could have died even though Julius was there. Yet, the man was laughing because to him it had been a mere prank. In other words, he couldn't have actually been in the area then. There were people who have died there after all. "Yeah. Nothing bad happened to me though." Or well nothing fatally bad anyway. Julius knew he could have outright lied and said he didn't go out that night at all. It would have been in his character but directly lying to Alex was something he never found himself able to do.[break][break]
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Nothing bad had happened to his brother? That was a relief! He released the breath he had been holding, a small head shake releasing the stress building up in the back of his neck. His brother asked about the prank uncertain, he shook his head. "Nah! Was barely there, just happened to be in the area! Why, these people came out of no where shooting bright lights, some acting truly." He shook his head before looking back at his brother, quickly changing the subject.
"How's work? Geat as I've heard about all over tv? I do certainly hope!" He paused losing posture thinking just about what he heard on tv, clearing throat shuffling slightly. "Well.. What are we just standing here? Let's get something to drink! I'm craving good Ol' coffee, what about you?" How should he make that? What creamer, should he request?[/bloackquote]
Barely there, just in the area...and light shows. Julius had never been so thankful that he did not emote and instead merely gave a small nod of acknowledgement. "I see." Well that was good then. He didn't lose the only family member he had left nor did his brother get thrown into this circumstance. Everything fine, he was safe. [break][break]
"Busy," Julius answered unsure of what more he should or could even say. He wasn't exactly allowed to talk about his cases due to sensitive information. He gave a nod at what the older Vesper said and the two headed over to the counter. It was then that he saw a familiar white haired boy. Ah...right..he worked here. "I'll have some black tea," Julius ordered if only because of his distaste for coffee. Seeing as this was a cafe, that should be an option. Slowly he turned over to look at his brother waiting to see what the man would answer. And also just to remind himself that Alex was indeed safe.[break][break]
Julius wasn't the only Vesper in the world.[break][break]
The young prosecutor opened his mouth but found himself unable to grasp onto the right words. He promptly shut them with a small frown cursing his inability to communicate like a normal person. Soon though he managed to open them once again, "how has school been?"
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
He went through the line after his brother the brother ordering a black tea, soon turning to him. He gave the man a smile before answering the order, "I'll have some oolong tea." Giving a nod to the cashier, a white hair male, that was giving them both rather harsh glares. Not that Alex really notice, he was pretty oblivious such things requiring attention. A moment the order was complete, Alex walked out of line and out of te way, while the drinks were being made, his brother turned to him asking about school. A smile, rather true hearty smile crossed his face. "Why Busy! Its quite entertaining, when its not too exhausting, just last week a computer decided. Poof I don't want to connect to the network, then poof suddenly began connecting to all the cellphones." He broke into laugh, "It was a virus, had to get a friend of mine to rewrite the whole system!" He shook his head, he hated computer software.
He paused a moment and smiled, "You know, its been such a long time. Why, its before even thanksgiving!"
Julius did not miss the look the familiar employee gave to him or his brother. However, he had only stared blankly back at the other as he waited for his brother to take his order. [break][break]
The prosecutor understood viruses or rather he understood they happened. He did not truly understand why other than downloading a bad file or going to a dangerous website. However, he was sure that was only the simplified version of the explanation. "So...you lost everything?" Was that how it worked? It was how viruses seemed to work for him or at the very least it was the question that everyone asked. [break][break]
Julius's lips curled down at the mention of how long it has been. Yes, it was before armistice day...and it was truly rare for the two to meet up with each other. He truly wished it was not like this. Days where he would see Alex every day was gone. Life was much different now. No longer would he be greeted nor would he greet anyone in his apartment. No longer did he cook either as there wasn't really anyone to cook for. Eating out just felt more convenient for him. "I'm sorry," he stated as he linked his hands together, gray eyes looking at the table. He could do better. Even if he had to work, he was sure that he should be able to do better. Alex had taken a pause on his own education in order to help make money for them. Julius should be able to do the same. If only he wasn't so inadequate. Alex was honestly amazing for being able to juggle so many parts of his life. The younger Vesper can only wish he had such talents.[break][break]
More importantly, though..he wished he could do something to make up for this. "How...is the...apartment. Are...you doing well?" Financially that...Julius had a good amount of spare money if only because he doesn't spend much outside of food and the necessary bills. So maybe if Alex needs help, Julius can help him with that.[break][break]
note: i don't think france celebrates thanksgiving so i just put in armistice day since they're both in november.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
His brother gave a slight shrug, before shifting just slightly, "No need to Apologize! Most of it was backed up on external cloud drive. overall the computer system just became more monstrous" He thought of that computer system, such an odd thing really. Almost reminded him of the skeletons and the attacks, but he pushed those thoughts away focusing more important things HIS BROTHER!
Luckily for him, short chopped raven hair asked about the apartment, and how it was. A grin crossed his face, "Good as it always is! Lots of handy dandy work, papers, and things about!" This grin faltered just slightly, "I do miss having you around." He attempted a small gentle tackle punch in an extremely playful probably only 10% strength manner.
By this time a clearing throat sounded rudely loud, getting the attention of Alex. He turned to see the white hair placing both drinks roughly on the counter before turning away to, clean? something. A smile spread on Alex's face as he sprung to action, "Our drinks are done!" He stated matter-of-factly before grabbing them both and attempting to give one to Julius.
A misunderstanding, and as expected the fault did not lie with Alex as much as it lied with Julius. Alex didn't make mistakes. The younger Vesper closed his hands into fists as he gently bit his lips, more frustrated at himself than anything. However, he opted to remain quiet if only because he didn't want Alex to think it was his fault for the misunderstanding. It wasn't all that important anyway...knowing his older brother, he would forgive him for any of the real inadequacy he had.[break][break]
The young prosecutor hoped that the papers were organized without him there. It probably was right? He didn't dare ask in fear of Alex assuming he was looking down on him. He truly was, he never would, he simply could not. Gray eyes caught the grin that faltered from the corner of his eyes and again the feeling of guilt tugged at his heart. The admission of missing Julius along with a small playful punch. The younger Vesper played along allowing himself to be slightly pushed. "I'll....try to come...more." Although it was going to be harder now, not only because of his job but also because of the new duty that was given to him.[break][break]
Soon there was a clearing of the throat and Julius lifted his head. Before he can fully react, Alex was already out of his seat and went to fetch their drinks. When the gray-eyed male's hand had reached out to stop him, ready to insist that Julius can fetch it, Alex was already out of reach. It was not for long before he handed him his drink. "Thank you," he muttered before taking a sip.[break][break]
"You can..take a break from work....I can pay....for your apartment..." came the offer because really, Julius was rather proud of his brother for getting his masters. It was something that should be encouraged and maybe Julius can also lessen his own debt to the man. Alex had sacrificed so much for him, this was the least that he could do. Besides, it wasn't like the prosecutor spent that much on personal items.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
A thank you, with an offer about a break from work and paying apartment. This earning a small laugh silence mix, and a good ol' drink from his oolong. "Mmmhmm! compliments to the chef!" He said loud and obnoxiously holding the cup up, attempting to change the mood, there was an odd sound somewhere far background (not that Alex noticed). He turned his full attention to Julius grin high and mighty, "What! Stop what I love to do! Put my own debt onto you! Haha! Of course not, you need your pay to find a Lady friend!" He took another drink his mind flickering to he once liked, he really needed to find a lady friend too.
Placing down the cup he proceeded to changing the nature and tone of the subject.... he's seen too much pain already... he doesn't want to see it on Julius as well... That guy is doing great! Why should he worry about his Big Bro! "I take t you can't talk about your cases, right? So. How's your Own Living space! Rather, How have you been!"Why did he have to talk so loud, somebody not Alex thought in the background wiping a blender down annoyed.
"Barista," came the automatic correction before Julius mentally winced. He really needed to get rid of the habit of automatically correcting people. His voice was also rather loud gaining attention and the younger Vesper found himself folding in in order to take less space. Even if most of the eyes were towards his brother, he couldn't help but still feel embarrassed nonetheless. [break][break]
"I'm...not looking.." he didn't exactly have the time to look with his job. Besides, if someone only loves him for his money there were many problems with that. For one, he didn't make enough money for people to flock to him. He made a good amount to pay for his apartment but it wasn't like he lived in a very big apartment either. Also, if they only love him for his money, he wasn't sure if that would make a healthy relationship. It probably didn't actually. Still, he nodded at the rejection nonetheless having somewhat been expecting it. Alex was simply too good to actually need anyone's help. Which..was rather nice. Gray eyes soften at the thought as he watched the way his brother shined. Alex can easily do anything, couldn't he? Julius was a fool to ever doubt him.[break][break]
Julius gave a nod, he wasn't allowed to talk about his case due to sensitive information. As for his normal life...well...er...he was chasing a youma the other day...and fell...and had to be tended to. Yeah, okay no. That was a bad idea. Best not to tell Alex that he had gotten injured. What else....well there was Halloween when he managed to buy some candy for himself. Only...he had to use it to hit a skeleton and the bad exploded on the impact. He has yet to buy any of the leftover Halloween candy either. There had to be something he could talk about. Oh! "Maurice...my...co-worker....he invited me....to a party. I...I think...I made some...connections there..." however few there was. Then there was also that girl, Masseur who he was also rather concerned about. Although, he doubted that would make much of a conversation. Thin brows scrunched together as the raven-haired male tried to think of what he can tell. [break][break]
A sigh parted from his lips when he realized, he couldn't really find a story as his brother can. "I've been..fine..." he really should have just answered it like that in the first place. As he looked out the window, he caught sight of a family of four walking down the streets...parents walking their children home. Ah yes...primary schools would be let out at this time. He couldn't help but allow his gray eyes to trail after them. One of the children seemed to be playing a game on their phone[break][break]
Soon though, he tore his eyes away from the sight, "I...tried a shooting game...I didn't like it."
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Barista? His brother had corrected him, a habit he is rather used to and didn't care at all about. "Oh yes! barista! The Coffee Chef!" he answered with a slight light flavorful voice. Before calming down to listen closely to Julius, as the guy answered he wasn't looking. Oh, come on. He played with the cup a little, what would his father do in this very moment? His Mother? Suggest something, you know. he had no idea, only knew what Life Time movies told him. Something that old family they lived at always watched especially around the holidays season.
"Okay, okay, no need to hurry. Sure whoever you end up with, out parents will love it." He gave a small gleeful smile, taking a couple of drinks thinking about that twilight zone experience. What had he done? Exactly? During that oolong enjoyment, his brother began speaking about his co-worker Maurice, inviting him to a party. He went to a party! his little brother went to a Party! He placed down the cup a huge smile that looked like it came form a drunk jock on his face. Why he never really got invited to parties, well not always. "You made connections at a party! I'm proud of you! First step getting higher in your career!" He felt a small pang of jealousy then, his brother was already moving forward into society? He was stuck doing repairs on computers, working on studying master degree, and just flat out teaching.
Ahh his brother had been doing fine, that was good to hear. Real good, definitely better than him. He should certainly get out more... he had the ability and capabilities now... he mentioned about a shooting game, he paused looking up at his brother who seemed to grow solemnly sad. "A shooting game... " He said cautiously thinking about his parents, how they were killed. How shootings, weren't exactly... welcoming.. "Yeah, you don't say." He said softly looking away toward the clock, breath catching slightly. "Sorry to cut this meeting short.. But we'd have to end it here soon." He felt a small tingling, swallowing the last of his tea. "Got some studying to do, along with grading. You be careful." He picked himself up getting ready to leave, waiting for the last thing his brother might have to say.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Their parents. Julius stared at Alex and gave a small nod. He can only hope so as he really did not have any memories of their parents. Nor did he even know who would be his partner in life. While he had dated a few times before, his workaholic nature or social ineptitude was usually what ended the relationship. Not that he had ever blamed them for leaving, romantic relationships ask for a lot and Julius was not exactly very adequate in giving them what they want. it was only natural. And some of them he was still on good terms with at least.[break][break]
Hearing the pride in his brother's voice made Julius's eyes widen before he found himself looking away. Pale hands came to push a few strands away as if he had just realized how his appearance may not be up to par with how his brother was making him out to be by such simple words. Or perhaps, he only wanted to find something for his hands to do. "I...I..." it was amazing how words suddenly became so much harder to find. It was nothing more than a small congratulation, something he heard from other people when Maurice had invited him to the party. However, the fact that it came from Alex made it different. After all, unlike the rest of his co-worker, Alex was nothing short of an idol for Julius. "I...wouldn't...say that...exactly..." he stated. It was true that he made a few connections and some seemed to be impressed but that didn't truly mean that he was going to be able to climb up the social ladder very quickly. The last thing he would want to do was disappoint his brother.[break][break]
There was something off about Alex's voice when Julius mentioned he had tried a shooting game. It had mainly been for practice and not a very pleasant experience. The young prosecutor could not understand why people would like such games. Before he can ask (or even find the courage to ask) the older Vesper had dismissed himself. Right..their time was up. Julius watched as his brother stood up relaying what he had to do while telling Julius to be careful. If only his brother knew the life that he led. Then again, it was probably better that he didn't. The prosecutor gave a small nod before looking away trying to find the right words. Fortunately, unlike most cases with other people, Alex understood Julius and waited to see if he had anything to say.[break][break]
"You too...take care...and good luck...not that you'll need it...I'm sure you'll do well in class...valedictorian even..." Julius stated before standing up to leave as well. "I'll see you...this holiday?" it was phrased as a question. The words somewhat hung in the air as if he feared possibly intruding in Alex's life. After all, he had his own life now that he didn't have to take care of Julius. Maybe he loved the freedom. He waited to hear the other's answer (whether it was a denial or acceptance) before giving a nod and walking out of the cafe to go home.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Take care. You'll make Valedictorian. He gave a grin, yeah he will. He'll do all of that! See you this holiday. He gave a thumbs up while throwing his cup, rather smoothly.. why if he was flirting a girl may have been impressed by his multitasking movements and eye meeting, "I will be there! You better be." Before he stepped out of the door with a finale wave and smile at the white hair guy who just happened to look up, who just happened to have a tired face of disdain.. Something Alex didn't catch, rather too caught up making his own personal escape toward his life... new life. Studying, lonesomeness, and a possible brighter future than before. Such a nice brotherly Meeting. Real nice.
notes: and in that moment, he was hit by a vehicle. The end. joking. I think.
