Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
Sticking the swift landing upon the end of his attack, a quick glance between the blade's edge and the two-headed hound ahead of him showed that the attack was successful; a deep gash of fatal measure had been inflicted upon the nape area of the hound that had been snapping its jaws at a prone Julius. Thankfully, Julius had taken the moment when the beast were struck to shift his way out of the danger zone, the hellhound now only having one of its heads alive now that the first of the two had succumbed to the embrace of elimination courtesy of Cassian's blade.[break][break]
Playing cards continued to whirlwind around the other head of the hellhound, mercilessly slicing and dicing across its face; then an arrow of light shot in from nowhere to brutally rip across one of its eyes, emitting an aggressive roar from the beast. It were most certainly not happy with the treatment it were getting from the magical pair.
[break][break]
Suddenly, a large ball of fire burst roared from the creature's mouth, lighting the cards up into flames as they dropped around the ground from the force of the blast, the small whirlwind now finished to reveal the hound's head utterly lacerated with slashes, cuts and gashes littered all over its features which made it look like a badly carved apple. Streaks and drops of blood dripped from all the wounds beneath its fur as a look of rage filled its remaining, functional eye. Fortunately, Julius was quick enough on his feet to perform a proficient dodge, evading the hazardous fireball yet got knocked back by the strong shockwave it gave off. Instantly, the beast swayed its head around to face Cassian, rearing its head back briefly only to lean forward with a huge fireball projecting wildly toward the magician. This one was certainly not going into the handkerchief.[break][break]
The blast shot out faster than the mage had anticipated - Cassian placed a foot out to begin his dodge to the left, although his foot landed on a stray skull that had been laying around in the catacombs. The light step upon the uneven and unexpected object made his body go off-balance, his slitted eyes widening very slightly with golden hues glancing downward in surprise. He had no time to stay put; he hurled his body forward in a messy dodge, tumbling against the firm ground as the fireball slammed into the wall, the shockwave of the attempt making Cassian get swept into the nearby wall with a hefty thud. Landing down on his hands and knees, the blue-haired magician shook his head about, instinctively controlling around a dozen playing cards to slot out from his deck and pierce toward the hellhound's remaining head and body at various angles from the front to give himself time to recover. [break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius's body had been knocked to the cavern's wall due to the shockwave before falling down onto the ground. Quickly, he got up in fear the creature may try to attack him again when gray eyes saw the creature focusing on the magician. He should be able to dodge it right? Between the prosecutor and the magician, it was quite obvious which one was more agile. Unfortunately, though, the head that the blue haired male had stepped on a skull (Julius debated on having his body cremated in his will if it meant he would not cause trouble in the future) causing the man to have a messy dodge. As the blue haired magician tried to recover himself after throwing cards to distract the once two-headed dog, Julius as summoned a barrier in order to protect him. Especially with the dog trying to shoot fireballs burning the cards, he didn't want any stray shots to hit the magician.[break][break]
Julius constructed his bow while the dog was still distracted, gray eyes focused. The cards from earlier were able to cut the dog whose head had been focused on Julius. His projections won't matter because of either their sense of hearing or smell. His own arrow while can pierce, but he wasn't sure how thick the dog's neck was. It would be safer to depend on the cards to continuously cut at the neck until it dies rather than depending on one shot.[break][break]
"Neck!" Julius raised his voice hoping the other can hear him before shooting an arrow at the creature's body. It got the dog's attention as it tried to charge at Julius most likely to pin him against the wall with a swipe. The male jumped up in the air just high enough to dodge those paws now that he was starting to pick up its movements. Unfortunately, the creature had been prepared as it snapped its jaws up at him while he was still in the air.[break][break]
He couldn't dodge like this...there was nothing to use in order to-[break][break]
Suddenly Julius felt something solid beneath his feet and without thinking, he jumped once again higher and away from the dog's neck making it try to stretch up exposing its nape. Gray eyes can only widen as he looked down to see the solid surface had been one of his sheld. But...glancing over Julius saw the wall protecting the magician was still there.[break][break]
How did he manage to keep both formed and stable like that?
While Cassian had taken a pretty solid bump against the stiff wall, he was certain that he didn't get hit hard enough to begin imagining barriers of light; this was the work of his prosecuting partner. Golden hues observed the energy before his eyes for a mere moment or so while regaining his senses, the cards whipping around the hound's head in small, lacerating slashes to various area. However, the hellhound had switched targets in its frenzied state, spinning around and charging toward Julius in an attempt to take him out of the fight. The beast ran with a savage resolve, aiming to completely and utterly maul the magi; each step got it faster and faster, wild intentions darker and darker, desire to kill higher and higher. It would be up to the prosecutor to get himself out of that situation; the card slices visually impaired and slowed the foul creature all it could in this moment. [break][break]
Standing up, Cassian stepped around the light barrier near him, his doll-like eyes unemotionally watching as the dark-haired male leaped over the creature and into the air, conjuring a barrier of light as a makeshift platform for himself in order to escape the clutches of the black beast. The motion was impressive and innovative - although it brought out an opportunity which was limited and needed to be taken advantage of immediately or it would be forever lost in the moment of admiring the prosecutor's ingenuity in battle. The neck.[break][break]
With the beast lunging upward into the air, its face a crimson expression of cuts and gashes, the exposed neck of the best stretched upward in a beautifully exposed manner. With such thirst to bite at its target, it painted the picture of its own path to demise. The dozen or so cards levitating around in the air paired off into portions of six, circling around at either side of the creature in an elegant turn. The six cards on the left came close to one another at the bottom and top, forming a long card of sorts, the same happening at the other side with the other group. Happening in quick fashion, the levitating cards swept swiftly and sharply through the air, crossing past one another to create a fatal X where the hound's neck remained through its jump. [break][break]
Sssrrrrt![break][break]
A crimson line darkly beamed at the hounds' neck in the shape of a clean X after the crossing slash from a dozen cards while it reached the apex of its jump toward Julius - the twin lines of spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds laced with red along the edges as they whisked upward near the ceiling. Slowly, they all began cascading downward, fluttering through the air as the hound's figure crashed heavily down to the floor, a littering sea of cards swaying like butterflies, peppering down atop the fallen demon and the ground around it.[break][break]
Cassian raised his head and narrowed his slitted gaze down at the fallen beast, simply staring at it for a moment or two with a neutral expression. The magician said nothing, his straight face soon turning to face Julius in the near distance, no words leaving his mouth but his glance suggesting that his eyes were checking to see if the prosecutor was alright after this encounter.[break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Gray eyes watched Cassian take advantage of the creature's position and thus killing it with a cascade of his cards. The creature (creatures?) was slain and there was a sense of thrilling satisfaction in taking the beast down. Not only did it mean that their cooperation can take down dangerous foes but it also meant that this place was safer for others now. The prosecutor dispelled his shields as he landed on the ground rather satisfied. Both...two...that was still a strange idea for him. It made the male wonder how long he has been capable of that without knowing and what else he could do. Perhaps he should try to experiment a little bit more throughout this exploration. If the magician was here, Julius was certain that things would turn out alright.[break][break]
Speaking of his companion, the prosecutor saw the one his companion looked at him and gave the other a nod. He was alright. Injured, but alright. The magician also seemed to be fine enough himself but just in case he gestured deep into the catacomb but did not take a step further. If the man was too tired they can very well go back but if not, then they should continue. If the creatures were here that led to two possibilities. The first is that they were protecting something. In all honesty, this was the best possible and it almost made Julius tempted to continue regardless of whether or not his companion would follow him. The other possibility is that there would be more of these creatures. If there was, then other people could get hurt should they enter the catacomb and as a prosecutor, it was Julius's duty to see that dangerous entities were rid of. The latter possibility could also be connected to the first as well.[break][break]
Either way, for now, the prosecutor stood and waited to see the magician's decision.
note: your choice if you wanna continue or not hood~.
In the immediate aftermath of the hazardous battle that took place, it were clear from the beginning that this skirmish would have ended in the deaths of humans or the deaths of these demonic hounds; the hounds were the beings that eventually took the fall, the last of the visible enemies vanquished as it silently lay down upon the ground with wounds that no beast could return from. A tough fight, Cassian had not completely known what to expect before venturing down here with his prosecutor friend, although this were definitely a little bit more than he had anticipated either way. Thankfully, the duo were proficient enough with their skills to end the attempts on their well-being. [break][break] With Julius and Cassian communicating between each other that they were alright, the only option at this point would be to advance onwards; they were not the types of individuals to back down; especially when hot on the trail of magical potential and nefarious evidence. The magician had taken a rather firm bump when landing earlier, although the body of a vessel was not so feeble; Cassian was more than ready for further punishment and action should it be required.[break][break] Extending an arm out, Cassian gave a small smile with his other arm residing behind his lower back, awaiting his partner to continue onward while he moved in closer, standing within reasonable proximity as to allow each other some space in case attacks came flying in from nowhere like moments before. Being too close could have them both stumble and caught in the same strike - that would be problematic. Glancing down the path that led on from this larger room that they found themselves it, the route was a bit more narrow and seemingly led somewhere; it would be rather easy for one to get lost in this ghoulish maze, for sure. [break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius gave a nod as the magician gestured to the carved path and smiled. It felt so strange, the prosecutor can still remember the blank look the magician had during Halloween but he could also smile. However, now was probably not the time to dwell on it. With a set distance between them, the prosecutor moved ahead. This catacomb felt like a maze actually, it reminded him of the dungeons in games he had watched Alex play as a child. Julius had never exactly participated in the games himself and as he grew older, it was something he watched from his peripheral while also trying to read his book or do his homework. He remembered how Alex would often always lean on the right in order to not get lost. A pale hand was placed along the wall, not so much as to mark their road back, but still to keep track of their direction all the same. [break][break]
As the two walked in the narrow cavern, the magus spoke up, "Io..is my...evoker. He's..the one that...gave me...this power. How...did you...get yours?" It was a fair question to ask. Even if Julius saw that the magician did not seem to have any ill intent, the source of his power was still something he should try to find out. And naturally, if the blue haired male had any questions, Julius was more than willing to answer them. Well...to a certain extent, anyway.
