Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
A few nights had passed since the madness at Palais-Bourbon, the skeletal nightmare which gripped the tower's proximity with a bony fist now but a memory filled with hazardous moments and many shattered bones. Of course, none of those shattered bones belonged to the magician, nor did any of those bones belong to the man he was meeting with, one 'Julius Vesper' as he were called. Technically, the prosecutor did sustain an injury during the undead march, although he more than proved his worth in the conflict and probably wasn't feeling too hindered by the strike he took. After all, the bold prosecutor had the audacity to take it one step further and decide to visit the catacombs. And who else did he request the company of? None other than pale-faced sorcerer accursed with a rhyming tongue. [break][break]
Cassian had to admit that it were a surprise when one of the carnival troupe members approached him a night or two ago, informing him that a message had been passed to the "clown-magician" through a flyer-boy into the circus' group and finally to the man in question himself. The magician still had the prosecutor's business card from Halloween night; his name and his role in this city were known to him now, although the true essence of his magic and how he had came to acquire it still harbored much mystery. And now, this man who once spoke of magic like fantasy, requested his presence in the catacombs - a place of possible danger due to current events with the intention of seeking magical clarity for the ghoulish event that occurred. How times could change![break][break]
With the location and time settled in the message delivered to him, it had seemed that the sorcerer had the choice of simply ignoring such a request or truly turning up to provide support. While Cassian certainly acted on his own impulses and followed whatever path he deemed most interesting...he could not deny that this inquiry into the underground cemetery of sorts would most definitely be a curious matter; especially if they did happen to find out more regarding the recent Halloween events. Or, one step higher, lingering magic below in the depths of the catacombs that had more to tell than either expected. Although, they could turn up and find nothing but closed caskets, frail bones and an abundance of darkness. Either way, Cassian agreed with the message; it deserved exploring.[break][break]
Standing outside one of the entrances into the catacombs, the night sky was a dark blue; a natural light of certain tint filling the atmosphere as the day fought to preserve its light in any way it could. Cassian could be seen in a similar outfit to the one he had met the prosecutor in in both their previous encounters; a mixture of a jester and a magician, clad in white with a stark white complexion all over. Star on one cheek; teardrops upon the other. [break][break]
Without a word or even the sound of his breath, he stood with his back to a wall in a position which allowed him to see all oncoming visitors just in case someone attempted to ambush him in these parts. Hands behind his lower back, the magician simply stood patiently, golden eyes set ahead in the anticipation of Julius' arrival. [break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] It had been a stroke of luck that Julius had ran into a carnival troupe member. It had taken him some time to figure out what to say. But fortunately, when he formed the words, the person was still there and so he had asked the person to pass on the message. Tell the jester looking magician that he was going to investigate the catacomb and if the man had the time, to meet him there three days from now.[break][break]
The astounding part about having one's body magically modified, was that it healed faster than the average human body. The injury to his shoulder had healed a few days after the incident without having to go to the hospital. Still, the male knew that he should exercise precaution nonetheless. [break][break]
As the prosecutor approached the catacomb, the sky turning a dark shade of blue without the sun in the sky, gray eyes caught sight of the man. There was a wave of relief to see him here. Even though Julius had been willing to go alone, to know that he wasn't did make him feel more safe. Also, there were questions he wanted to ask the other anyway.[break][break]
Julius gave a small nod of acknowledgement to the other before he started to head inside. The inside was at least well lit with many skulls. Gray eyes squinted, almost waiting for one of them to pop out and attack them. After Halloween, it was rather hard to trust the dead. "How long..have you known...about magic?" Julius asked as he looked around for any weapons, accessories or purple cape. Anything that could possibly connect back to Halloween or perhaps it had just been a coincidence. He couldn't exactly be sure.
Not having to wait much longer after his own arrival, golden hues caught the appearance of the dark-haired male underneath the dark blue sky as a slight breeze pushed itself around through the eerie air of the cemetery entrance. A nod of acknowledgement came from Cassian in return to the nod from Julius, before a courteous half-bow and an extension of his arm toward the entrance suggested that the prosecutor may enter first. As he did so, the magician wasted no time and placed step after step in advancement himself, entering the catacombs without a word between the both of them. They knew what they were there for and this was no situation for extended small talk outside of their objective; curiosity of Halloween night took precedence. Talking would be done inside the home of the New Paris' deceased while they searched for answers. [break][break]
Almost surprisingly, the scene inside was well-lit, old structures and bones being the decor style of this catacomb - as one would expect of the catacombs in any city. Steady pace allowed Cassian to glance around freely without fear of missing anything important - and also allowed him to scan the area around him for any sign of sudden attack. While he may not have been as cautious around skeletons in the past, Halloween night certainly changed that; now he had come to expect them to provide their own style of danger in certain environments. If it were the work of a being that possessed the magical powers of a necromancer, then surely this would be the hottest spot for their source of power? The method and the culprit were still a mystery; it could have even been the work of Chaos itself for all they knew so far. [break][break]
"Long enough to know it can be like the weather." The magician stated as he walked, slitted eyes inspecting the tombs and stray bones around him, searching for any type of special markings or recognizable items. "Influential, unpredictable and it can appear wherever." Standing still, with one hand coming around from his lower back to now rest at his chin, his other hand stayed behind in its original position, Cassian's head turning side to side as he glanced around.[break][break]
Spotting a book nestled in the corner among a few more, Cassian approached it, bending over to swipe the spine of it in his grasp, standing upright with his pale, white digits spreading open the pages in order to find some insight into whatever this book were. Would it be important? Useless? Revealing? Mystifying? Looking intently down onto the pages, the magician scanned the words to sense the importance of it. [break][break]
"Magic has been in my life for years; performance and real." Cassian idly added as he read the book, a tone of indifference in his voice, perhaps due to his split attention. "Though, my opportunity to explore true magic has not been as limitless as I'd like; although you seem to now know that sorcery is no myth, I feel." He finished with a rather amused voice, flicking another page as he fell back into silence.[break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius caught the motion and gave a nod before entering. The place was better lit than one would think possible for those who would actually bother to visit this place. Or perhaps it was to ward off potential bats. The magi was not entirely sure. Steel gray eyes looked around the area cautious of any movement. After Halloween, one couldn't be too careful. Maybe the skeleton king was not actually gone and it was only an act. Although he had seemed pretty confident beforehand so he would have to be quite a phenomenal actor. Perhaps his remaining soldiers were still here or perhaps this place was just a place youmas could be found. Julius wouldn't be too surprised considering the latter.[break][break]
As they walked, the prosecutor asked the other how long he had known about magic. The other stated long enough to know of its unpredictable nature linking it to the weather. Julius would honestly disagree with the sentiment. The weather can be predicted to a certain degree. While it was not with perfect accuracy, there was at least some ability to predict. However, the same cannot be said about magic. As far as Julius knew, there was not enough information to understand when another attack like Halloween might strike. They would just have to be reactive for now then. Hopefully, this problem can be remedied in the future.[break][break]
From the corner of his eyes, he saw someone reaching out for something. The prosecutor's body tensed ready to jump until he noticed the arm had skin on it. So it wasn't a skeleton, only Cassian. His shoulders relaxed, gray eyes blankly stared at the other. He didn't ask if there was anything of note in the book because if there was, he was sure the magician would tell him. For now, he should probably do his own investigation but not stray too far. [break][break]
"Only recently...I didn't know...when we last talked," Julius answered as he walked closer to inspect the bones. They didn't have armor like the ones on the street. Maybe coming down here was for nothing. No, it would be best to still check. "Have you heard of Io?" the young prosecutor asked as he ventured further in while still making sure that Cassian was still in sight. Soft footsteps echoing in the tunnel.[break][break]
Somehow, he had a feeling this place was used as some dare or trial of courage.
Following his catacomb partner while inspecting the pages, he kept a watchful glance around him and ahead, ensuring that nothing would be making any attempts on himself or Julius; also checking for small traps of any sort that could really bring a damper on their night. In between the scanning that came from his golden eyes, the slitted eyelids flickered upward as Cassian was addressed with a question, one that he did not exactly understand the true meaning of. The statement before it was believable; Cassian did not sense at the time that the prosecutor was feigning ignorance to him about true magic and he seemed sincere enough in his confession here. But an Io? Person? Item? Location? [break][break]
With his blue-haired head raising up slightly to direct his inquiring eyes at Julius now, his neutral expression remained unchanged, a simple shake of his head in response to the question, showing that he was not familiar with the words that were spoken. [break][break]
Flicking along a few more pages, it seemed more and more clear with each passing topic and every lasting word; no dice. The book, while located in a place of interest, did not seem to contain the answers they were seeking. It happened instead to be all ways of preserving the dead, keeping them stored correctly, so on and so forth, yet no subtle hints of magic or foul play, no suggestion of necromancy or resurrection and no hocus-pocus phrase to read out loud while surrounded by floor markings and black candles. In short, the duo did not find their goal in the first strike.[break][break]
Snapping the book shut, he continued to walk with it in hand, waiting for the next stand or ledge that would be suitable to place it down upon as the two of them moved through the eerie tunnel of the catacombs. Cassian's head cocked as he looked at Julius, his motion making it clear that he wanted to hear more of this Io which had been brought to his attention. [break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] A shake of the head. So that means that chances are, the magician did not know who Io was. So does that mean that he was not a magi? Io was the only evoker Julius has ever met but should he really assume that? It wasn't as if he knew all that much about magic. Then again, there was a way to find out. Gray eyes caught the way his companion looked at him. His facial expression did not change (the prosecutor was unsure if it could change) but the fact that the other was even looking at him in the first place spoke of interest.[break][break]
The two continued on with the sound of footsteps and flipped pages accompanying them. The silence however wasn't awkward. There wasn't any pressure to talk, and instead it was almost a nice comfortable companion as well. Silence that was patient in allow Julius to gather his thoughts and figure out what to say rather then doing it as he speaks. There was a snapping of the book which called for the prosecutor's attention.[break][break
Silence. Nothing. So there was nothing in that book. Julius gave a small nod as they continued forth. He can feel the other looking at him, he wanted to know something. It almost felt weird, the idea of Julius knowing something the other magician did not. Even if they only knew each other for a very short time (they have spent much less than twenty-four hours together), the magi did respect him. He was the one that had brought up the existence of magic before Julius had made his contract. In other words, this was someone with more experience than him.[break][break]
"Io is-" Julius cut himself off at the sound of something. His body stiffened as he looked over at his companion who didn't seem to have made any movement to cause such a sound. So then, just what was ahead of them?
[break] The duo was trespassing on hallowed ground, and something had finally taken notice. From deep within the reaches of the catacombs a deep growl could be heard. The terrifying sound filled the catacombs washing over the magicians in an overwhelming echo of noise. Then just as quickly as it had started it ended. An eerie silence taking its place. Julius had been the first to notice the noise, and with his gaze pointed directly ahead of him. He'd likely be the first to notice the group of crimson eyes staring back at them from the dark expanse ahead.[break][break]
What had come for them? They wouldn't need to wait long for the answer. The first of the creatures took a step forward and more directly into the light. Revealing its massive black form to the duo. It was a canine of remarkable size, easily trumping the largest of normal dogs with its bulk. Pools of black ooze dripped from it's open maw and the creature licked at its sharp rows of teeth as it advanced further once more. Upon closer inspection the duo could see that thick lines of red energy flowed along the underside of its jaw.[break][break]
The creature lunged and aimed itself at the closest target. Cassian Gérard was his prey and it was poised to sink it's sharp fangs into the flesh of his legs. [break][break]
While Cassian may have been forgiven for thinking that he would be getting an answer based on what this Io thing or individual was, it had seemed that fate did not intend him to receive the answer just yet as Julius' words stopped in their tracks before he could fully reveal his information. And to be fair to him, the white-faced magician heard the suspicious movement in the distance which caused him to abruptly finish his sentence; something was certainly hiding in the mysterious darkness ahead of them. [break][break]
The tunnel had opened up into a more open space with candles lit around the walls in a manner which made things visible but not overtly bright, similar to the first room they found themselves in. A pair of red eyes not too far away could be seen, scoping the duo out from the malicious black, nothing but ill intentions radiating from within the crimson stare. Slowly, it came forward with a beastly sight to show, sharp fangs, pitch-black fur, black ooze for saliva and built to utterly dismantle anything caught in its path. This was not a dog, not a wolf and nothing normal for that matter entirely; this was some type of dark creature. [break][break]
Cassian said nothing. Instead, he began to slowly step away from Julius and out to the side, creating a bit of distance between him and his prosecutor friend. Why? Because he noticed how the red eyes of this foul beast lingered on him more than his catacombs partner; there was a deep feeling that this beast would attempt to make the blue-haired male his first order of food. Better to not let Julius get caught in the strike too just in case things got wild. And his hunch proved correct as the fierce hound suddenly lunged forward, bolting toward the magician in white with a dangerous bite toward his leg. Swiftly, Cassian pivoted out of the way and spun cleanly out from the chomp, allowing the beast to bite into nothing but air; in such close quarters the sorcerer could truly notice the size of this thing. It was bigger and bulkier than any dog - fact. [break][break]
Right after his spinning evasion, Cassian leaped backward to create space between him and the hound, his arms extending out to either side - almost like he were performing - as several playing cards slipped out from a deck in his outfit and levitated around his figure. With the cards hovering around his frame like an aura, one of them suddenly shot toward the beast's face, aiming to sharply slot into a red eye if successful.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Deeper in the dimly litted catacomb was a group of crimson eyes. Most likely a youma then or at least not humans. It was a good thing that the magician had decided to accompany Julius on his investigation. It was a group of dogs...with the first (either a leader of the pack of a sacrificial lamb) approached the two. Under better light and a closer view, the prosecutor noticed the size of the dog that was clearly bigger than your average dog. Pools of black ooze dripped from its open maw meaning that it would be best to use far range attacks as opposed to close range. Then there was this strange glow that Julius was unsure of what to make of.[break][break]
From the corner of his eyes, he saw Cassian slowly moving away from him. Was he creating a distance for when it attacked them? Wait...Julius noticed the way those red eyes seemed to be more trained at his companion. The magician had already known who it would choose as its first target. Julius was ready to defend him with a shield should he need it but the magician had also aimed a card at the creature.[break][break]
Gray eyes went back to the pack who could jump into battle at any given moment. He didn't want to alert them but he should do something as well. Right now they knew nothing about these creatures, he should focus on building as much time as he can. Calling forth his power, Julius created a wall of light acting as a barrier to block off the group. He did not know how long it would take for them to break through but this was the best he could do for now.[break][break]
Then turning back over to the first dog that had approached them, Julius summoned his bow and shot an arrow at it in case it had dodged the magician's own attack. If it didn't, well then having two strikes was better than one.
[break] Cassian had been far quicker than the hound had expected. It's large jaw chomped down with amazing force onto thin air and frustration filled the youma. It was quickly replaced with seething anger as the clown's card impaled itself into it's right eye. A whine of pain escaped from the canine as it's vision became impaired. The youma had little time to consider it's options when suddenly an arrow pierced into its right side. A sharp howl filled the air before the creature retreated backward. It moved slowly, limping due to it's recently received wounds. Its hind legs touched against the barrier of light erected by Julius.[break][break]
You had removed it's route back to the rest of the back.[break][break]
With no option for retreat to lick its wound the lone hellhound settled on a course of action. Suicide. The massive beast lifted its head upward and began to howl. In doing so the thick lines of red energy underneath it's jaw began to glow brightly. They soon began to spread along the surface of the youma's body. An intense sensation of heat began to escape from the youma. So intense was the heat that even from a distance the duo could feel its influence as it covered the catacombs. The hellhound's body began to inflate as the heat and its howl increased. Within a few short seconds the previously bulky creature began to resemble a balloon of fur and flesh.[break][break]
Ka-Boom![break][break]
The youman exploded into a mess of fur and fire. The catacombs shook with a powerful tremor, dust and debris stirred up by the explosion obscured the view of the magicians. Once it settled the duo would find that the youma's suicidally attack had caused the barrier of light to shatter to pieces. Releasing two more of the pack of Hellhounds onto them. In an attempt to catch their prey off guard the canine's began to attack from a distance. The youma opened their massive maws, each one spitting out balls of fire outward. One aimed for Cassian Gérard & another aimed for julius vesper. [break][break]
The hellhound may have been a beast of impressive bulk yet it were no match for the combined efficiency of Cassian's unforgiving accuracy and Julius' radiating light; the card slotted violently into the creature's eye while the light arrow struck it from the other side, both attacks causing the beast to re-assess its options. However, with the wall of that light had been erected, any chance of escape had been drastically ripped down to the low percentages, eradication the most likely option at the hands of the white-faced magician and the potent prosecutor. One thing was for sure; this hellhound certainly wasn't looking to get a second serving of what he'd just been fed. [break][break]
So much so in fact that it began to glow while shifting uncomfortably, that initial scene soon escalating into a more horrid one as the canine-like beast swelled up more and more with signs of destruction suggesting against the very surface of its skin; the insides proclaiming their need to burst, splatter or erupt in some way, shape or form. Heat began to build within the area; Cassian couldn't say for certain what was about to happen but by the way this creature was reacting to whatever it set upon itself, it did not look good in the slightest sense. Circling round to get more closer to Julius, the magician's cards slotted in front of him in the air, forming a semi-shield of sorts as they all floated ahead of the sorcerer to create a levitating square in front of his upper body. [break][break]
Boom! And there it was in all of its violent glory; an explosion of flesh and fur, heat whooshing around the small area with the golden, glass-like wall shattering from the force of it, a gust of wind blowing by Cassian and Julius, his magician-like clothes swaying from the gust while the small wall of cards in front of him spared the hot heat from huffing into his face. As the wind lowered, the cards dispersed and formed an aura of sorts around him again, his golden hues now available to the sight of two more of these hounds leaping into the fray with their own savage intentions in mind. [break][break]
As the mouth of the hound focusing on Cassian opened its vile mouth, a glimmer of some type sprouted up from the creature's mouth; a slight widening of Cassian's eyes showed his understanding of the possible maneuver about to take place; some type of projectile. With swift timing, the magician's right arm reached to his side, yanking the white and magical handkerchief out in snappy fashion, whipping it out for his other arm to catch at the other end. With the fireball blasting out from the creature's mouth, the orb of fire was smaller than the average human head, contained fire around the sides as it sculpted into its sphere-like shape, now heading towards the chest of the magician. With a slight grunt, Cassian caught the ball of fire within the middle of the handkerchief, snuffing the sphere by closing the magical cloth around it, only to just as quickly lash it downwards and raise it back up; Alba Vacuo making a disappearing act of the fireball as it had vanished after being caught in the handkerchief, the mystical cloth flat and flawless as it were when it initially came out. [break][break]
Stuffing it back into the middle band of his white outfit, the magician raised out his palm in front of him - face down - then turned it around to face the ceiling, a small skull charm in his hand. With a raise of his wrist, it suddenly puffed into a sword, his white digits around the handle of the weapon as one arm rested behind his lower back, the other holding the sabre in front of his chest while he beckoned the hound closer with an subtle, taunting smirk of assurance, playing cards forming an arch around Cassian's body and all pointing toward the hellish animal.[break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius watched as the dog whined, its vision impaired just before his arrow had struck it as well. The creature started to back away retreating only to be met with the barrier. While the magic could not hurt the dog, it did serve a message, there was to be no help or escape for it. It would die here alone if such a word can be used for youmas. Eradication was most likely more much more fitting.[break][break]
He expected the creature to mindlessly charge at them but instead, it had howled. As it howled, there was a red glow to it and Julius found himself taking steps back until he was against a wall. The heat rising either for a blast or something else. The magus had considered creating a barrier but that would mean taking the one he already had down. No..he couldn't afford to do that right now. Hopefully, his body would be able to- the blue haired magician stepped in front of Julius. Huh? The raven haired male opened his mouth ready to tell the other to get away when cards were held back magic in the air in front of them. A shield?[break][break]
Julius shielded his eyes with his arms as the creature exploded. The prosecutor coughed at the smoke caused by the explosion before noticing that there was a lack of warm light from his barrier. That could only mean- as the smoke settled, two more of the creatures jumped into the fray. However, unlike their companion, these creatures elected to fight far range shooting out balls of fire. The prosecutor rolled out of the way in order to dodge, gray eyes noticing Cassian seeming to catch the fireball with his hankerchief..making it disappeared before summoning a sword.[break][break]
The man was certainly well-versed in magic with all of these abilities. Gray eyes turned back towards the dogs before calling forth his own power. Two images of Julius and one image of the magician appeared away from the original all moving in different directions hoping to confuse the creatures. Julius and his images summoned their bows before firing at the dog from different angles. Only one of those arrows was real, so only one of it could actually hurt the creature, Julius can only hope that was the one that would land on the target.
[break] The fireballs had failed and once again the canines found themselves on the defensive. To say that the duo of dogs were seething with anger would be an understatement. They wanted results and they just didn't seem to be getting them. The creatures would not lose themselves in their anger however. No, they would instead use it as catalysts for strength. As Cassian beckoned for the canine to approach him, to accept his challenge, it remained stagnant. Its crimson eyes grew hot with rage as it glared at the magician from a distant. It would not play the fool like it's brother before it had. Besides, they had other issues to deal with. Like the magi that seemed capable of turning itself into many.[break][break]
Or at least that would have been an issue if the Hellhounds weren't capable of detecting the scent of the real Julius. It was an easy task for the youma to lock onto Julius's smell and avoid the arrow meant for him. The creature lunged to the side, avoiding the arrow meant to piece it's body. The youma now stood directly next to it's brother. Both hellhounds began to howl, there own little insult towards the mages. Did they really think they were all going to be that stupid? The mages did have one thing going for them however. They were too strong for the hellhounds to handle on their own.[break][break]
So perhaps it was time to try doing things together? It was a gruesome display that began to take place before the two mages. The hellhound that had been focused on Cassian turned its attention towards it's brother. It's maw opening wide it sunk its fangs into the flesh of its brother's side. The bitten hound let out a painful whimper but made not movement. It instead kept it's eyes locked on the two magicians as its brother ate away at it. It did this until it couldn't do handle it anymore. It's body collapsing to the floor as the life faded from its eyes.[break][break]
The single hellhound that remained then unhinged it's jaw in a disturbing display of cannibalism. It ate it's brother whole, and as it swallowed the youma's body began to change. It twisted and turned, convulsed in scene that was ripped straight from the most painful werewolf transformation scenes. The youma grew bigger, it's muscles larger, and its fangs longer. A second head then burst forth from the side of its neck.[break][break]
Now they were one.[break][break]
The new twin headed hellhound made the first move. Julius had thought himself so clever and he'd soon find out that he wasn't. The monstrous creature lashed out at the man. It lunged at him, swiping it's claw directly at him. Julius would find himself to slow to react at the creature's newfound speed. The hellhound now had been pinned to the floor. The weight of his body threatening to crush the man and his bones. One of the youma's head glare down at Julius barking and growling as it snapped its jaw at him. The youma was playing with its food.[break][break]
The second head kept its attention focused solely on Cassian. Should the magician make any sudden moves to help his friend he'd find the second poised to bite into him. But surely that wouldn't stop him from trying to play the hero right?
Patience was a trait which Cassian harbored much of; the way that the hound stood in wait after his subtle taunt at the creature was more than enough to make the white-faced magician keep that ever-present smile on his face, somewhat amused by the hellhound now displaying more bark than bite with his move countered. Although the stand-off continued between man and a dangerous version of man's best friend, Cassian's perceptive eyes could pick up Julius beside him pulling off a rather flashy maneuver which involved creating copies of himself - and Cassian too! It was certainly impressive, especially so when the prosecutor's own images show their own version of light arrows toward the target. The magician was not sure of just how solid or powerful the image's and their attacks were, yet the sight of it was interesting all the same. This man he had partnered up with really was a natural considering the length of time he had been using his abilities. [break][break]
Unfortunately, the hellhound under Julius' jurisdiction managed to dodge the radiant attack and instead opted to shift its figure over to its fellow canine from hell. They started off looking rather chummy next to each other, displaying a series of howls which probably meant all manner of insults in hound-tongue for all they knew, Cassian simply standing in the same position he had assumed in the first place without budging an inch, cards arched around his figure in levitating fashion. [break][break]
Suddenly, one of the hounds fiercely chomped into the side of the other, causing a slight tilt of Cassian's head as he observed the scene - which continued - of cannibalism. It was rather strange and certainly not nice to watch, however the magician did not want to turn his eyes away only to have another fireball flung at his face for his inattentiveness; he stared at the entire scene as it unfolded, sword still poised in his hand with golden hues remaining fixated upon his foes, eyes slitted in that usual manner. How disgusting it were, this feeding. [break][break]
And to match the madness of the first act between the two, the second continued the outlandish moment as a second head now sprung out from the remaining creature; a fusion of some sorts created by a contract of cannibalism. The creature was bigger and firmer; muscles growing in size and fangs lengthening. [break][break]
The hellhound kicked off toward Julius with hazardous speed, the increase of power proven right there and then simply from the improved speed, so much so that it took Julius by surprise and managed to pin him down to the ground, one head lavishing in the glory of the takedown while the second head displayed foul intentions toward the magician if he dared to interrupt. Fortunately, Cassian was not afraid of dogs. Not even two-headed ones.[break][break]
Bursting off his heel, Cassian turned and sprinted toward Julius, quickly breaking the short distance between them; playing cards flew from his outfit to add to the collection already around him like an aura; now a total of fourteen. They whooshed toward the head watching for Cassian, all fourteen playing cards whisking around its head like a tornado, attempting to lacerate the creature's skull non-stop with razor-sharp cuts, aiming for its mouth, its ears, its nose, its eyelids, its pupils. Assuming that to be enough to distract the thing at the very least, it would certainly stop it from making any lunges with its teeth. Leaping over one side of the creature, Cassian swept his arm across that held the sword, the purple and sharp blade attempting to slice across the nape of the hellhound head that terrorized his catacombs partner, the strength and technique of the strike more than enough to vanquish that particular head, should it connect. Regardless of whether it struck or not, Cassian would continue his leap and spin in the air to land on a foot and knee, sliding back to face the twin-headed hound and his magical friend.[break][break]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] It dodged..even more, was that the dog had dodged with certainty. It didn't even truly bother to look at the other arrows coming at it as if it knew. How? Scent? Hearing? It must have been one of those two. Julius knew the images only influenced sight. That meant that it would be harder for Julius to aim at the one looking at him so perhaps...Julius readied to aim at the canine who focused its attention on his magician companion. When..they suddenly got close to one another? Gray eyes narrowed, curious as to what they were doing.[break][break]
Suddenly the one that Julius had been aiming but yet to shoot, bit into the one that had dodged the prosecutor's earlier arrow. What? The dark haired male opened his mouth in confusion...just what were they doing? The process continued the one being eaten always had its eye on them. The cannibal, once finished, grew bigger and soon had a second head. Can youma metamorphosize? [break][break]
The two-headed dog had its eyes on Julius and the male was ready to dodge. Yet, before his body could move out of the way, the creature had pinned him onto the floor. The male grunted at the pain from the applied pressure to his body. He couldn't exactly move or roll out of the way. One of the heads snapped its jaws at him but hadn't killed him yet. Was it playing with him?[break][break]
Footsteps..too light to belong to the giant canine. It had to be the magician. He saw the male jumped into the air and kicked the dog distracting it enough for Julius to roll away. He needed to make up for his earlier failure. The once again drew the shape of his bow and shot at one of the dog's eyes while he was still close. After taking that shot, Julius was quick to run away and gain some distance. Close quarter combat clearly was never his forte. A quick glance told him that the arrow had managed to at least scratch one of its eyes. The creature roared before shooting off a fire ball in Julius's direction.[break][break]
Julius took a running step before jumping and rolling away barely able to dodge the much bigger fireball. Unfortunately, the shockwave managed to knock him against the wall. Evidently, cannbalism has made the creature stronger, not that the prosecutor had doubted that before.
