Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
Work was over and Julius was heading to his apartment opting to head through the park. There were most likely a lot of people taking public transportations right now and he had never exactly been good around crowds. It wasn't that he got agitated around them as much as he just found them to be far too suffocating. Large amounts of people always seem to tire him out somehow with too many things to focus on. Having just finished work, the prosecutor could not say he was exactly energetic at the moment...if he ever had been energetic before. [break][break]
Unfortunately, as he walked through the park it started to drizzle. Gray eyes squinted at the sky rather unamused with the weather at the moment. With a small sigh, he hurried over to find some shelter at the park. Unfortunately, during his search, the rain picked up and for a moment Julius wondered if he should have just taken public transportation or even a taxi. However, it was too late now as the rain started to pick up. Not wanting his clothes to be drenched, Julius picked up his steps and barely managed to find a picnic area with a roof over the table. The prosecutor found himself practically running over to get away from the rain just because it became a heavy downpour.[break][break]
Good. Julius looked back at the rain momentarily wondering how long he will have to stay here. Well, it wasn't like he had anyone to meet up with. Gray eyes then turned towards the table and without the distance and rain blurring his view, he noticed that there was already someone else there. It was a rather familiar figure...the prosecutor could have sworn he saw this person before. His eyes squinted before it hit him...ah...yes...Sandrine, a defense attorney in training with who knew how many mentors. The person seemed to switch them on a dime even if all he did was sit and watch. Julius only knew about him from the few times a defense attorney would come up to introduce himself. He never truly understood why some defense attorney would want to have a chat with him after a court case. However, he was quite certain that he had been introduced to this person in front of him at least twice by two different attorneys. Slowly, Julius found himself looking back out at the rain debating if perhaps the magic even to him would actually not make his body sick from the rain. Should he take that chance? In all honesty...it was almost tempting.

"So Ringo, what did you think of today's case?" The lawyer asked Ringo as they walked out of court. It was an immense robbery and harassment case due to the fall out of a relationship between the robber and victim. The lawyer in question defended the robber. After the evidence was brought to light, the lawyer tried to lighten the robber's sentence, or at least try to spin it so that the robber was acting out of grief. Ringo doesn't see it that way.
"...I think you should've just given up after the picture of the car and the contents within it was presented." Ringo thought a little out loud.
"Hm?" Ringo paused as he looked at the lawyer. He seemed baffled at Ringo's words. It was the same look when Ringo first disagreed with one of his mentors.
"Nothing...I think I'll be studying under a different lawyer for my next case. Thank you for today. I learned a lot." Ringo bowed politely and exited on out. The lawyer sighed in confusion. He supposed the rumors are true then. Don't get too attached as Ringo would usually change mentors after two or three cases.
One had to wonder why Ringo didn't just become a prosecutor...but the answer was very simple, at least to him. Ringo didn't go in this to condemn but to defend those that cannot for themselves. He didn't go in this to lighten the sentence of others the moment they're caught. He'd gladly give them to the prosecutors. It wasn't like a defense attorney but it was how Ringo wanted to function, odd as lawyers and clients alike would take it.
"Hm..." Ringo glanced up at the sky. "Uh oh..." The rain clouds started to pick up. It looked like he was going to have to use the umbrella...that he left at home. A nervous laugh from him as he glanced around for any shelter. The rain was picking up. Good thing there was some shelter in the form of one of those umbrella tables. He quickly ran on in. Yeah, he's defintely going to have to get his black formal coat and pants cleaned but at least he doesn't have to suffer further rain. It was when he caught his breathe he noticed his company.
Before him, with eyes squinted, was Julius Vesper. He was introduced a couple of times though he doubted the prosecutor remembered him. This one always seemed distant despite the energy he put into his cases. Ringo might as well greet his senior in the law field.
Any chance of merely leaving without being noticed was gone when the blond had greeted him. Too bad temptation never listened to reason. Nonetheless, Julius knew that his actions can and does reflect back on the prosecution office he worked in. There was a moment of silence as he debated what to say. If he kept quiet or just walked out that could easily appear as rude. "Monsieur Sandrine," he greeted back dully.[break][break]
There were two of them and only one table. Even if they did not know each other, they could very well easily share the same table or at least the umbrella. Logically speaking, it would make the most sense so that neither of them would become wet. Yet despite how Julius may look, he was not a creature of absolute logic. Like any other humans, emotions do coerce him to have certain wants. "I can find another place," he stated as if the mere thought of sharing did not occur to him. The offer hung in the air as gray eyes stared into gold ones, waiting to see what the other would say.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
"Monsieur Sandrine," Julius greeted. There was a moment of silence until suddenly. "I can find another place," Ringo blinked and glanced about. The rain has only gotten more intense since he hid here. Plus this table was suitable enough for the both them. He took a moment to ponder. Julius could make it to one of the buildings but he'd be severely drenched.
"...unless you don't mind your cloths being drenched heavily or you can yank the umbrella from the table, I'm afraid it'd be heartless of me to ask you to move." Ringo smiled as he relaxed himself, careful to not let any part of him out in the rain. "I think we're fine here to wait the rain out." Granted, due to how heavy the rain is, that might be awhile.
Did Julius mind his clothes being drenched? Naturally...the only question was what bothered him more: his clothes being drenched or spending time with a future defense attorney. The prosecutor himself rarely spent any time with any defense attorneys and for good reasons. They were the opposition and even more was their active attempts in either defending the culprit or trying to lessen their sentences. The only times he ever truly did anything with them outside of the court was when Maurice would accept for both of them. He would never understand what his senior had in mind. The man's explanation never made any sense.[break][break]
Still, with that offer, it would be seen as extremely rude to just walk out now. "Thank you," he stated before taking a seat. His hand moved to the chair on the other side as a silent offer. Who knew how long they were going to be here and it would feel weird to be the only one sitting. "Did..you just came..from observing?"[break][break]
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
"Thank you," At Julius' silent offer, Ringo sat on down. "Did..you just came..from observing?" Ringo blinked as Julius asked the question. Well, it didn't hurt to answer his question.
"Yes actually." Ringo thought back to the case again. How it was prolonged more than it should've and how the role of victim and perpetrator was cleared up. Another disillusionment with a mentor. At the very least, Ringo gained valuable case experience. "Call it bizarre but, I think I'm changing mentors again."
Ringo was very much aware the reputation he had back at the law office. It was impossible to avoid the gossip. But if he could take the best parts of his disappointments and make use of them, then maybe all that time he spent under their tutelage will help. Still, doesn't change the fact that he had to find another defense attorney willing to accept him under his wing.
"But that's my problem." Ringo said. Fully relaxed into his chair, apparently not minding the very likely future ahead of him.
Again? Julius knew he changed it often but the way Sandrine said it, it felt as if it was part of the norm. A part of the prosecutor wondered if he should warn him about choosing too much. No one wants to have a fickle person underneath their wings. The point of the mentor was to guide their mentee and prepare them for when they join the firm. Well..it probably wasn't his place anyway. As the other man had stated, it was his problem and therefore not relevant to the prosecutor.[break][break]
The other merely gave a small nod as he looked at the rain. The park that was usually full of people was rather sparse at the moment. The rain also did not seem like it was going to be letting go anytime soon. The silence was soon broken by the sound of a ringtone and Julius was quick to take his phone out. "Yes?"[break][break]
"Oh, Julius, I remembered you left earlier. I don't think I saw you got an umbrella so I wanted to know if you got home yet?"[break][break]
"No."[break][break]
"Oh. Are you in a car?"[break][break]
"No."[break][break]
"Where are you? I just got off, I can walk over and take you home. I have an umbrella, it's the least I can do for my former mentee."[break][break]
Julius can feel his eyes twitch. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate the offer, Maurice was truly kind to go out of his way. However, the raven-haired male was not a child. "I'm fine," he stated, his voice still its usual tone despite the slight annoyance and stubbornness. "Have a nice day," he stated before ending the call. It only then did he remember..right..he wasn't alone. Well...this was awkward..not that it wasn't before for Julius. "Sorry..." that must have been a bit weird to listen to.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
There was a moment of almost silence as the two just sat there with only the rain to provide the noise. Another noise has finally decided to join in. Ringo decided to just look out at the rain rather than pay all too close attention to his only companion in this shelter's conversation.
"Yes? No. No." Just like court and in conversation huh? Not that Ringo himself was exactly one to speak. "I'm fine, Have a nice day," Julius finally ended the call and processed that Ringo was still here. "Sorry..."
"Nothing to apologize for." Ringo was going to shift the conversation away from the call anyways. "Really should've brought my umbrella." A pondering. Come to think of it, if Julius wasn't here, would it be too much a stretch to use his armor as an umbrella? Nah, kind of a waste. "Hope you didn't have anything tonight." Ringo joked lightly.
Julius shook his head in silent disagreement. It was impolite to take a call without warning the other. For one if the two were having a conversation (which they really were not) it could be seen as rude cutting the flow of the conversation. The other reason (which was much more applicable to the situation) was that it might have made it awkward for Sandrine. Either way, it was something that can rightfully be seen as rude and therefore an apology was needed.[break][break]
However, he did give an empathetic nod to the second statement. An umbrella certainly would have bee nice. Julius should had brought one himself as well. Truly, it had been a mistake on both of their parts. This probably did not look good on either of them, after all as those whose work consist of representing others, they should always be prepared. This whole event, especially the shame he was feeling right now, was something to learn from.[break][break]
The last comment earned the blue eyed male a blank stare from his temporary companion. "Have anything?" he repeated. "I...don't...have anything...to shield me from the rain...tonight..." well maybe except for his coat but he doubted it would help him very much. Really, he thought it would have been quite obvious. Unless...was Sandrine in a rush somewhere and needed something? "Do...you want my coat...as a shield?" even if the other was a defense attorney in training, he was still very much a citizen. If he needed it, Julius would give to him in case he had some event he needed to attend.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
"Have anything?" Ringo blinked. He figured with the calls and his life style as a prosecutor his life is a rather hectic one. "I...don't...have anything...to shield me from the rain...tonight..." Ringo blinked. Not...what he meant at all. Before Ringo could speak up..."Do...you want my coat...as a shield?"
"Huh?" Ringo blinked. A light laugh. "Come on, I have my own coat...I don't want to use yours like an umbrella. Besides who knows when I'll see you again unless we land the same case." Ringo relaxed he stuck his hand out to test out the intensity of the rain. "I meant if you had any plans tonight earlier." Ringo clarified.
Julius merely looked at the other, his eyes silently asking just what it was that had elicited the light laughter from the other. Just what was so funny? The prosecutor was ready to counter saying that while it was true Sandrine did not know where Julius lived (nor did he have any plans to tell the other), he could still find Julius's office. That much he should be capable of, right? If not, Julius could also just hand over his business card and that would be that. However, such an argument would have been for naught seeing as that was not what the defense attorney had meant. This conversation had gone off trajectory due to Julius's misunderstanding of the words. [break][break]
The older male bit his lips in silent contemplation..well...in truth..."no." He hardly ever had any plans outside of work and unfortunately he had failed in sneaking work back to the apartment today. Marcus had caught him and so...well here he was. He supposed he could wait until the rain is over and wander around...go on a small patrol to look for youmas. He could also try to read so he wouldn't fall behind on the book club even if he was uncertain if he could be available for the next meeting. Yet those were things he simply did when he had some time left. "you?" he asked if only out of obligation.[break][break]
Hopefully, the male across from his did not devote his entire life to saving convicts. He shouldn't be wasting his time with it at all.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
"No." No? Well, that's disheartening. "You?" Ringo paused as he realized he wasn't really one to talk considering what he does every night. Come to think of it, maybe his soulgem is clean as it is because he goes so out of his way to look for all that danger. A shrug.
"Something important to me." That was the most Ringo can say without sounding insane. He was pretty sure Julius would not even amuse the idea that he would go in magical armor and go out and fight abominations best left unsaid. "It's something I feel trains me for the future." He relaxed himself as the rain started to light up a little.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius was about to merely gave a nod of acknowledgment as Sandrine's answer, not thinking too much on it. If it was something important to him and private than it was his matter. However, the following statement was what made Julius pause or rather not even start the action in the first place. Gray eyes narrowed at those words, the usual dull gray turning into steel. From the sound tapping on the umbrella, the rain sounded like it was starting to lighten up. Not enough for either of them to leave without the risk of getting sick but soon, very soon they would be able to.[break][break]
Pale hands on the table curled in on themselves as the prosecutor tilted his head, "what is it?" he asked. His usual monotone having a small cold edge to it. If it was something that would train him for the future, it was most likely as a defense attorney, especially if he was going to keep it so vague. If that was the case, Julius needed to know and he wasn't going to let Sandrine go until he does.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
"Volunteering." That was honestly the best way to put it without mentioning that magic exists and that everyday they breathe could be plagued by youma, horrors beyond their understanding. "I do community service. When I'm off being tutored or have to sit down on cases, I'm not exactly helping people by sitting down or taking notes I can't even use until my own career as an attorney gets started. So, I help out at places that are short-handed as it were."
Again, honestly given how Ringo hasn't really spoken with the likely others that have their own magics. The Magi might as well be short handed if he has met so few of them...but they can't possibly be so few if the city's night hasn't been overrun by youma yet.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Volunteering, usually an act of goodwill where one forsakes their free time in order to help others. Julius has heard about and read on some of them, at times finding unfavorable things in certain major groups that started to lean on the side of profit. However, that was more on the higher-ups than the actual volunteers themselves. The prosecutor had honestly never volunteered in his life before, he never had the time having to focus on his own education or well-being. Now, he had to divide his time between work and his duty as a magus. Actually, now that he thought about it, that did not sound like there was a lot on his list..was he just bad at managing his time?[break][break]
Going back to Sandrine though..why was he volunteering? Julius had heard of cases where people have volunteered in order to look good in the eyes of the public. Was that what Sandrine was trying to set up? The fact that the defense attorney in training even referred to his future career as 'helping the people' was also disgusting. Gray eyes narrowed at the thought. Yeah, keeping criminals out of jail and making the efforts investigators have invested was a great way to help people.[break][break]
"If..you want...to help...quit." he suggested before something occurred to him. Most cases were usually dealt with by the verdict of the judge but major cases were usually decided by a jury. Was Sandrine trying to garner positive attention now for his future job when he still has free time? Defense attorneys were disgusting, all of them. Always aiming to manipulate the jury's emotions through their actions rather than to get the jury to focus on the actual evidence.
