Johanna Ritter, a volunteer firefighter at the age of twenty-six. Five years ago, she was attacked by someone while walking with her fiance. The person had never been found nor was the murder weapon due to their quick escape while the woman was in grief. There had been an investigation but when no motive as found nor did they find the person, the prosecutor in charge had essentially put the case away. It wasn't exactly new for that to happen, while criminals were not running rampant, there were quite a number of them. Sometimes there was simply not enough manpower and other times certain cases were placed cold because finding the criminal was simply 'futile'.[break][break]
Julus, a prosecutor at the age of twenty-four, had only come across the case when looking through old cases he can ask to take over. Being new, he did not exactly have many complicated cases to deal with and most of them were usually decided by the judge rather swiftly. He had only ever stepped into trial once in his career so far and that had honestly been rather unexpected for everyone involved. So it had been by pure chance he found the file and had decided to take it to his office. However, he had not filled out the paper to take over the case or to truly open it up again. He'll need to find a police officer who would be willing to do the investigation (as he would really rather not force someone into it) and more importantly he needed to talk to close members of the victim. The victim's parents, when he had tried to visit them, were currently out of the country. He wasn't sure if they had moved a long time ago or was merely on vacation. He was going to have to look into this later. What he did find, however, was the fiance and a victim of attempted murder. He can go from this angle to find the killer but he needed to talk to her first and see if she was willing.[break][break]
And so, here he was in front of the fire department of the 15th arrondissement. "Is madame Ritter volunteering here today?" he asked having already gone through many other fire stations on his day off. Please let her be in this one.[break][break]
"Johanna? Maybe..why?'[break][break]
Maybes in this context would most likely mean yes. Good, "I need to speak with her if that is alright." The fireman had squinted his eyes at Julius who was honestly tempted to take out his identification. At the same time though, he would rather not cause nasty rumors. "It's important...please..."[break][break]
Reluctantly the man had nodded and gone off to tell madame Ritter. Julius can only wait and hope that this wouldn't get too awkward. Just how do you approach someone with a cold case in the first place? Still, Julius refused to allow a cold murder case go pass the jurisdiction. He knew what it was like to wait for justice to finally be served and the idea that maybe the victim wasn't important. As a prosecutor, he could, and would, do his best to prevent such things.
