Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
hey guys, i'm going to all the sites i'm on and letting them know what's going on with me.
it's not any easier no matter where i post this but the fact of the matter is a few days ago, i was attacked outside my home. i'm not injured, just really shaken up and anxious and stressed out. i don't feel safe right about now and it's like a lot of weight on my shoulders that i'm trying to alleviate.
i'll try to get back right in one or two days, i just don't feel safe and talking about it just makes me feel strange.
[attr="class","hal1txt"] Time spent working with Julius during working hours practically annihilated any irritation she might've had with him. Their beginning wasn't rocky but it surely wasn't ideal. She cocks her head to the side, studying him in comparison to the person in her memories, the boy who confused her to no end but also endeared her. He was awkward, still is, but sincere. Claudia takes a sip of her drink to hide her smile, gaze on the outer rim of her cup. Once she'd had her fill, she breathed a sigh and set it down, using her pinky beneath the cup's rim to keep it from making much noise.[break][break] "I was hungry," she points out, glancing at the crumbs left over from the muffin she'd eaten. "Unfortunately, I have a habit of buying more than I need."[break][break] A learned habit and a side effect of sharing a body with another being. Echidna wasn't very demanding when it came to sustenance aside from the moments where Claudia forgot to eat. But it often escaped Claudia that Echidna didn't need to eat, she was only projecting Claudia's needs and couldn't consume anything herself. Withering plants and wrinkled grey-skinned animals came to mind and Claudia repressed a shiver.[break][break] Sometimes, Echidna couldn't consume things herself.[break][break] "You can have it if you want, it's less of a health-risk than those doughnuts the others insist on bringing to the precinct," she says, laughing softly at the thought of consuming all those doughnuts in such a small time span.[break][break] Echidna hisses in the back of her mind and Claudia almost looks to the window in response. Glancing up at the clock instead, she raises a brow and hums. She wouldn't have to be back for a little while longer but with the downpour, traffic wouldn't be much of an issue. Just staying dry. Julius' question is met with a tilt of the head, Claudia sucking her lower lip between her teeth, biting down lightly in thought.[break][break] "Just desk work today, there've been a few reports in lately, odd happenings around the city," she takes another sip of her drink. "Mostly in the Lourve, I hate to say that's to be expected."[break][break] julius vesper
[attr="class","hal1txt"] The steady downpour was a sight to behold. Rain seemed to fall from the sky in a never-ending torrent drenching anyone bold or stupid enough to brave it. Within the warmth and safety of the café, Claudia took another hearty bite of her muffin and bid a quiet thanks to Echidna for provoking her to seek shelter. She didn't dare linger on the thought too long lest the spirit become haughty again and try to goad her into other matters of thinking. Instead, Claudia let her mind drift off to other things such as the workload surely sitting on her desk at this very moment or the person across from her who looked oddly familiar yet comfortable in his seat. The only umbrella in their vicinity was her own and she wasn't sure whether to place him in the bold or stupid category for braving the elements with a paper-back book in hand. [break][break] Her eyebrows furrowed, head tilting to the side as she set down the napkin her muffin was held in and lifted her mug to her lips. There was something familiar about that picture and the title itself. Though Claudia couldn't seem to put it to mind, her head a little fuzzy until their eyes meet and it comes flooding back He calls her by her title and her eyes widen, lips parting then coming together as she smiles. "Julius," she sighs, shoulders sagging with relief as the moment of confusion passed. "Out of everyone in the precinct, I didn't expect to see you here."[break][break] Her nose wrinkles at the thought. Idle conversation had never been her strong suit. When a conversation pertained to topics that she knew or cared for, it was easier than coming up with something on the fly. That particular skill was only reserved for children and the elderly. Making conversation with people her own age was harder than pulling teeth. But she relents, sparing Julius the awkward bit that would've come from stating the obvious. Looking at her uneaten muffin and the cup of tea he has, she pushes it towards him with a slight nudge of the saucer it sits upon.[break][break] "I've never been here before but I think they make their pastries fresh," she points out. "It's warm and has chocolate chips."[break][break] julius vesper
[attr="class","hal1txt"] Claudia didn't make a habit of venturing into the Lourve at the dead of night. However, promises were meant to be kept and she didn't want her word to be taken lightly. After dropping off a few bags of groceries at an apartment complex, she bids the family inside goodbye and takes the steps two at a time. Echidna scolds her, saying that her heels will get caught on the steps and send her plummeting to her death. A morbid thought but one that the spirit refuses to let go until Claudia's feet are safely on even ground.[break][break] Bundling up against the cold, she tucks her hands into the pockets of her overcoat and buries her reddening nose into the black fur lining her hood. Her heels click against the asphalt as she walks beneath flickering street lamps, golden eyes flitting from left to right as she tries to discern the shape of shadows that loom where light cannot hope to reach.[break][break] Her purse swings to and fro as she walks, matching the beat of her steps, soft breaths fanning warmth across her cheeks. She shivers against a particularly cold breeze, frowning as she reaches her car. [break][break] I hate the cold.[break][break] Echidna scolds her for wearing a skirt of all things and Claudia rolls her eyes. Sometimes, fashion demanded sacrifices. Her reflection in the windows shows her duplicate rolling her eyes but unwilling to concede defeat. Opening the car door, Claudia sets her purse down on the floor and moves to get it before their small fight comes to a halt. A high-pitched scream pierces the quiet murmurings of the night, Claudia's heart jumping as she moves to get out of the car, slamming the door shut and locking it as she runs.[break][break] Few people pass her by as she races to the source of the sound, her heels clicking faster as she turns corners, coming to a halt in front of an alleyway.[break][break] Her mind registers the young woman curled up by the wall, cowering with her hands shielding her face, and the man who stands over her. He whirls around and meets Claudia's eye, the officer taking a few steps forward.[break][break] "And what's going on here."[break][break] marius richard
[attr="class","hal1txt"] Rain splattered against the pavement, changing the dull grey to a darker shade matching heavy clouds hanging overhead. Claudia walks amidst the hurrying crowd, her umbrella shielding her from being doused by the sudden downpour. As she passes by a window, her reflection smirks at her and she wrinkles her nose in distaste. Since their first talk, soft whispers of "advice" and coaxing plagued her waking moments. Often times, it was nonsensical things that Claudia couldn't make heads or tails off. Other times, it was warnings about the weather or persons around her. [break][break] The invasion of privacy wasn't taken well. She preferred having her head to herself without anyone probing about. Echidna insisted that she was being facetious. It was their head after all. As if to taunt her, the whisperings returned, louder than the rain thumping against the umbrella and close enough to Claudia's ear that she almost looks over her shoulder.[break][break] Food.[break][break] Claudia sighs, her shoulders sagging and eyebrows furrowing. She stops beneath an awning and rests her back against the cool brick wall, watching the downpour with half-lidded eyes.[break][break] We just ate four hours ago.[break][break] Her stomach rumbled on cue and she scowled as Echidna laughed, sharp pricks of pain making her wince and grit her teeth to keep from hissing. Glancing at a nearby puddle, she clicks her tongue.[break][break] Alright, quit it. The last thing I need is shoulder pains all day.[break][break] Immediately, the pain alleviated and Claudia opens her umbrella, stepping back into the downpour. Amidst the rain and the crowds, she spies several restaurants but Echidna voices her displeasure with most or her lack of interest in others while Claudia refuses to eat certain things that the spirit is interested in.[break][break] Finally, both parties decide upon a cafe and Echidna's voice recedes once Claudia steps inside. The warmth envelops her and she sighs, shaking her umbrella free of water outside and strapping it up properly. Heels clicking against the floors as she makes her way to the counter, ordering two muffins and a cappuccino with extra shots of espresso. Looking around the cafe as her order is prepared, she sighs. Several of the seats are already taken and while the noise is at a tolerable level, it's packed.[break][break] All except for a table with a demure-looking man, engrossed in his book. The cashier calls for her and Claudia pays, thanking them with a curt nod and a polite smile before whisking away her items to the one chair available.[break][break] Not even a few seconds after her arrival, he offers the chair to her and she quirks a brow. Well, at least the day wasn't a total loss.[break][break] "Thank you very much," she says, setting down her food and drink then taking her seat, propping up her umbrella by the window. [break][break] Upon an upward glance, she can't help but think he looks vaguely familiar. Dismissing it, she takes a bite of her muffin and looks outside.[break][break] julius vesper

RANK: ★☆☆☆☆ [break] CLASS: vessel [break] [break] SP. SKILL: [ AUGMENT ] — Your magic has given you the ability to manipulate and maneuver our own magical energy to your delight. And with such a versatile magic, your special skill is one of matching versatility in the right hands. With this skill, you are capable of reinforcing inanimate objects by embedding it with your own magical energy. Thereby strengthening the properties of said item. A simple branch, for example. After being held in your hands, the process of the augment will begin with a thought. You must focus on the branch. It will then glow for a moment and then cease. And afterward, the branch will match the resilience and strength of that a metal bat. The exact end result relies solely on how much energy you place into the item. And it doesn't just apply to the heaviness or sturdiness of an item. Augmenting the purpose of an item could be increasing the sharpness of a knife or even the nourishment of food. Living organisms, however, cannot be augmented. Also, an augmented item continually drains away from your stamina the longer it is using your energy. So do be careful with how long you allow an item to maintain it's new form.

NAME: kiss of death[break] CLASS: D[break] DESCRIPTION[break] — A mother is a giver of life and by her will, just as swiftly, she can bring the kiss of death.[break][break] Echidna, the mother of monsters, created some of the most fearsome creatures from Greek Mythology. Through her relationship with Claudia, she passed on this ability of creation after taking away Claudia's ability to have children of her own. With this symbiotic relationship, borne from give and take, Claudia gained the ability to create energy constructs from memory. These constructs sap at her stamina upon creation and she is only able to make one at a time. To make weapons or mundane items, she has to know the inner-workings of it and the components to reconstruct them.[break][break] Once destroyed, it takes her three turns to build up the energy to create another. She cannot recreate magical items or things that she hasn't seen before. [break][break] NAME: mother's touch[break] CLASS: D[break] DESCRIPTION[break] — With just a touch, life springs forth from her hand and flourishes under her gaze.[break][break] Nature is connected to Claudia in more ways than one. By coming into physical contact with plants or animals while injured, she can heal herself by siphoning their life force to replenish what she's lost. If she is bound and unable to come in contact with any form of life, she cannot use this ability, and she isn't sure whether she can take from humans. As of now, she has made it a personal rule to Echidna that she cannot siphon the life force from humans while animals are free game.[break][break] Currently, she can heal a D-class attack in two turns and a C-class attack in three turns. Anything stronger, she can't heal and she hasn't attempted to heal anyone else with the ability due to how gruesome it is. [break][break]
There are no ancient depictions of Echidna that survived to the modern era. Authors and historians have tried to recreate her, each with their own perception of the chaos she wrought, and the beauty she held. None could come close to all that Echidna had been or how her story ended. Mother of Monsters was the title she’d been given, as her children were deemed abominations in the stories told by playwrights, authors, and historians, to give their so-called heroes enemies to fight against. Her husband, Typhon, illustrious as he’d been also fell to the hands of those “heroes” heralded by the populace but damned in her eyes. Lost without her family, her grief gave way to pure and unadulterated hatred as she turned her sights onto the Chaos that emboldened these “heroes” to fulfill their desires. [break][break] With the lower half of a snake and the upper half of a beautiful fair-skinned woman, Echidna was considered an abomination herself, and a “champion” fueled by Chaos’s whispering came to rid the world of her presence. She deemed humanity as the greatest evil and the true monster — facing her would-be killer as one of many who’d fall at her hands. What happened after that is lost to time, as both Echidna and the “champion” were buried beneath the Earth as her fury shook the cavern around them and buried them both alive.[break][break] Many heroes were lost to the annals of time, torn to pieces by Echidna’s anguish and pride. Her effigy was placed among her children’s as monsters, laid low by righteous heroes who’d done the world a great justice. Though, with her dying breath, Echidna swore she would have vengeance for her children and ensure that no mother would face the grief she’d endured.
claudia, the motherless child
Claudia Knight, ward of the city of New Paris, was born on November 27th and abandoned in an alleyway. If not for her crying, and the arrival of several stray cats who’d curled up near her, passerbys wouldn’t have noticed that she was even there. She’d been taken to the nearest hospital and cleaned up before being shipped off to a hospital. There was no identification and very little to go off of in terms of finding her parents. At twenty-four, Claudia would say that she was better off without them.[break][break] Her upbringing was tumultuous. There were ups and downs that she had fairly little control over. Growing up in a group home, she clashed with some of the other girls for various reasons. Some picked at her hair or the fairness of her skin, calling her ‘Snow White’ to her displeasure. On more than one occasion, she retaliated whether with words or actions, it depended on her mood. More than once, her caretakers asked her if she took pleasure in watching others hurt.[break][break] She didn’t but there was a kind of joy that came with seeing justice followed through. With a careful shrug, she says unapologetically, ”They had it coming.”[break][break] Families adopted her on and off throughout the years, bringing her back after the trial period when she didn’t quite mesh with their family. There was always something wrong. Unable to get along with girls her age, picked on by the boys, refusing to speak to the fathers, and shying away from the mothers. Some families believed it was them who weren’t a good pick while others lashed out and said it was her.[break][break] She’s a monster.[break][break] A freak.[break][break] The admonishments weighed on her psyche and Claudia curled in on herself. Then, like a guiding light, a young woman appeared with a worn smile and offered to adopt her. [break][break] ”I’m nothing but trouble,” Claudia mutters, looking away from the outstretched hand.[break][break] The woman laughed, the sound soft and hollow, making Claudia’s heart clench.[break][break] ”A bit of trouble is exactly what I need.”[break][break] The young woman, Alicia Knight, had lost her own child due to a miscarriage. Shortly after, she split with her husband of three years during several disagreements where the aforementioned child was thrown into her face. Claudia had been her pick from the moment she stepped into the play room and saw the little girl attempting to make a hasty retreat out of a window. The rest was history.[break][break] Their relationship was off to a rocky start. Alicia, idealizing parenthood, hadn’t realized how troublesome Claudia could be. On the other hand, Claudia was reluctant to voice her desires and curled in on herself despite Alicia’s attempts to reach out. At a standstill, they weren’t sure where to go until Claudia asked Alicia for a book during their trip to the grocery store. It had crude drawings on the cover and wasn’t remarkable but Alicia bought it for her anyway, staying up late to read to Claudia until she fell asleep.[break][break] ”They’re myths,” Alicia points out, gesturing to the pictures of men in armor and wielding weapons against humongous beasts. ”And these are heroes.”[break][break] Claudia wasn’t very interested in the heroes, instead pointing at the monster and looking up at Alicia curiously. ”What’re they?”[break][break] "Monsters,” Alicia replies, nose wrinkling at the graphic depiction. ”Lets read more about Eurydice and Orpheus.”[break][break] Claudia shakes her head. ”I wanna know about Medusa.”[break][break] As time went on, Claudia grew. She hated revisiting her childhood and remembering how much of a brat she was. Alicia assures her that it wasn’t all bad. That Claudia was one of the most thoughtful children she’d ever known. How kind she was to animals, and attentive to people, always sure of what was right or wrong. But life wouldn’t be as simple as that and sometimes there were things Claudia would have to let go. Alicia hoped that the real world would be kind to her, something she voiced to Claudia as the girl readied to go off to college.[break][break] But there were things Alicia didn’t know about Claudia. She didn’t know about the animals that talked to her, the creatures she could bend to her command with a word or the ones she could conjure up. Alicia didn’t know where her daughter went during the night. Climbing onto rooftops, basking in the wind rushing through her hair as she runs, feeling as free as a bird until she realizes that she’s off the ground and has to make an emergency landing in a tree frightened by the wings she thought she felt in place of her arms.[break][break] Or the voice that calls out to her, the voice of a woman. The woman cries during commercials about hungry children over the world and bawls when a child’s death is announced. It urges Claudia to donate to different organizations that she didn’t even know existed and coaxes her to ensure that their claims are legit. It’s the voice that drives her to take the law enforcement exam after getting her bachelors in electrical engineering.[break][break] Tells her that there’s more she can do on the right side of the law instead of behind a screen. Claudia wants to disagree but then she sees a report of a child left abandoned, and the words knot in her throat. [break][break] ”Who are you?” Claudia asks, running her thumb over the shiny new badge she’d been given upon her induction into the force at twenty-three. She sits alone in her apartment, the phone ringing is surely Alicia or someone else but she doesn’t pay it any mind, her hands clenching the sink as she wills herself to look in the mirror. A woman looks back at her, a reflection of herself but the pupils of her eyes are slits, Claudia leans closer to the mirror and the woman does as well.[break][break] ”Echidna.”
NOTES
+ Claudia has only recently spoken to Echidna. Their relationship is rocky but Echidna does have some influence over Claudia's actions and knows how to subdue her will. [break][break] + With a degree in electrical engineering, Claudia makes many of her own gadgets and necessary items during her escapades as Black Cat.[break][break] + Black Cat is a persona recently cropped up by Echidna to ensure that "justice" is being served. Claudia doesn't approve of it but she does have to admit that it can be effective.[break][break] + When she was young, her adoptive mother signed her up for martial arts classes and self-defense courses to help her get her confidence up and anger out. Claudia signed up for kick-boxing four years ago and enjoys letting her anger out on something physically.[break][break] + She's been in the force for a year and a few months. She enjoys it tremendously but there is also a bit of irritation when the bad guys get away.[break][break] + Unknown to most, even her adoptive mother, Claudia is infertile because of her connection to Echidna.[break][break] + Echidna searches for her mate, Typhon, hoping that he has found a vessel of his own and they'll be reunited.[break][break] + Because of their connection, Claudia is very in tune with nature and animals. She believes she can take on an animal's characteristics but it has a strange phantom effect on her body. She hasn't tried to turn into an actual animal.[break][break] + Echidna has a strong distaste for Corrupted individuals, believing that the vices that took hold of them are what emboldened the so-called "heroes" to take her children from her. Sees Magi as 'fake apostles' and the Nobelesse as 'righteous fools'.
