Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
He looked at the papers of the most latest accepted employee, the application was okay? He guessed. Certainly didn't look forward to working with some Book snob, probably one of those wannabes smartee pants... The boss commanded it, the moment she arrived on the scene he was to begin her absolute basic training of working the register, yeah ordering people's drinks. Deep deep down he was actually kinda worried about her, what if she couldn't handled the stress of the rich New paris folk pickiness about coffee? Yes calmond foam has to be crushed, no they didn't have actual goat milk.. Lies, that was they were meant to be experts on, well.. To extent.
The bell gave a small ring, he peered from his phone bored lazy expression written on his face. The uniform he wore standing out as a fellow worker the green apron, white hair in band pulled back,, black khakis, and brown shirt. "Welcome to the shop." He mumbled half-assed on pure training everyday customer interaction instinct. Though his domineer? It was 100% clear he did not want to be here, and was not going to put effort the energy to lie to the customers. Cellphone still on counter showing some images of a small white kitty hanging onto a branch.
It had been a grueling day for Karin, and it was only midday. She'd spent several hours fussing over her appearance in the mirror to no avail; she looked the exact same as every other day. Karin had probably tied her hair up a good twenty times just to take it down and start over. This job was important to Karin and she needed to make a good first impression. The winter air nipped at her cheeks as she headed for the familiar little coffee shop. She loved how the winter months looked, but oh did she hate how the cold felt and the extra layers of clothes only suffocated her.
She pushed the door to the coffee shop open, and the shrill sound of a welcoming bell filled the warm air of the store. The woman put on her best cheery smile and waved to the man behind the counter, "Hi there!" Karin paused to look around. "I'm Karin Mayumi; today's my first day." Did she hate working with the public? Absolutely. Was she going to strive to be the best barista ever? Positively. Rin never did anything half-assed, and she wasn't about to start now.
He heard it.. The Female's voice, it would have been fine till... those three words popped out.. 'my first day' Uuuuuugh this was the new employee he was suppose to help train and work with during the busy hours? That his boss wanted him to be friendly with? Ugghh... On the worst absolute Winter Storm ever, she walked in happy and absolutely shining announcing her name and the fact she was new. Thank the fucking world nobody else was there... Somebody would make it a goal to scam the damn girl shouting she's new.
He gave a large groan moving to a more back straight correct greeting posture, smile crossing his face. "Why hello Karin Mayumi, glad to have you right on time." Was she on time? Fuck like he actually knew. The guy just moving his hand to cover her profile application information, something.. He may or may not be allowed to have. "First day, hmm?" He answered leaning on the side a bit, "Well let me get your badge and show you how to clock in.. Then we can begin."
The white hair male stepped away from the main counter into the back office spotting her name bade with a small smilie and wink... Really? Really? Reinforcing the be nice? He picked it up took it straight toward the register, "Alright over here. Just need you to swipe and click the 'sign in' button. Bam done." He calmly waited for her to comply, praying she'd quit after the first two weeks. A voice lurking deep deep within saying be faster she just died.... small slow painful death....
Outside of being told she had the job and that it paid pretty measly, Karin wasn’t told much else on how her first day was supposed to go. She also couldn’t say she visited this particular coffee shop much at all prior to seeing the ‘help needed’ sign on the window. It was regrettable that she hadn’t; the coffee shop was quaint and inviting. Aside from the employee’s rather lackluster attitude; the white-haired man was not high on her list of people to impress.
It wasn’t time to relax yet, though. “Thank you, sir,” she mused, smiling happily. She was a bit early, but that didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Karin noticed the man move his hand over a piece of paper. She assumed it was some embarrassing love note and thought nothing else of it. Rin rocked on her heels, “You must do really impressive work to be the one they picked to mentor me.”
Rin followed the man to the office. She spotted her name quickly and was surprised to see that he recalled her name without any problems. She’d always been very bad at remembering names. That was one perk of avoiding people. He winked and she smiled, though she raised her eyebrows at the same time. People didn’t tend to wink at librarians or orphans so she didn’t have much experience in handing out the proper response to that.
Back at the register, she followed his instructions and clicked the sign in button. It wasn’t much compared to the programs she had to use at the library. “So, how long have you worked here?” Rin questioned, still staring at the register screen.
She had signed in, and immediantly started basic of all basics... Questions... Might as well been your favorite color, why is your hair medium length is that in the dress code, or something else entirely. So, how long had he worked here.. Why... Probably sometime after... He started counting the months, soon followed by a year... This followed by another year.. "A while." He answered attempting to avoid the realization, what has he been doing his whole life? Yeah, going to classes.. But he wasn't actually going anywhere with his career choices. He quickly waved the thought away, quickly blaming it on magic taking his free time.. That would have been spent worrying about higher grades or making art like his mom.
He turned toward the various pumps began the.. Basic... Absolute.. Basic Tutorial. "Three pumps if somebody asks for additional flavoring, fifty cents each. the Coffee maker to be cleaned out every two hours, something about health hazards. You have to whip the heavy whip to make cream with a machine. I don't know how it works, but it does, people like it. Recipes are in this booklet.." He pulled out the booklet for all trainees, "Today just look it over and man the register. I'll worry about how to make each one, when it speeds up."
So it began the first customer, then the second.. Then third.. He wasn't sure how he felt about the brown hair chick with a clear too happy smile that he didn't like. Why he didn't like it, really he couldn't figure out, and that little voice far far back of his mind kept nagging him to end it by slicing a smile to the throat. This voice he kept seriously buried, no need to get arrested over something stupid as a smile. Couple more customers, eventually he couldn't stand it but bring it up. "Why are you happy to be here? This place sucks, the pay sucks, and the customers are rich snobs or poor morons."
//Sorry for time skipping a bit, we can still carry on paragraph 2 conversation if you want.
‘The only stupid question is the question you don’t ask,’ Rin’s mother’s words echoed in her head. Oh, how wrong her mother had been. There was an abundance of stupid questions one could ask and her latest one fell right on top of the rest of them. Small talk was hard for Karin, maybe because she didn’t relate with most people or maybe because she was socially inept. It didn’t really matter why it only mattered that she was bad at it.
Rin tried to soak up as much information as she could. It was times like these her calculating nature kicked in. Karin thrived when she was being given orders; there was something about the bliss of being able to shut off her brain and drive straight into work. “I’ll try to have this committed to memory by tomorrow,” she tapped the front of the booklet. Who needs sleep anyway?
She took the customer’s orders as they fled the harsh winter storm for the warmth of the coffee shop. They weren’t very busy, which gave her some time between orders to flip through the book. A stiff smile sat upon her face through the entirety of her order-taking time. She made sure to thank each one of them in the kindest voice possible. She took a moment to glance at her mentor's nametag since surely she’d need to know his name. Signus, it read. The man spoke and struck a slight nerve with the woman, causing her to drop her smile momentarily. “Poor morons?” Rin began to assume Signus must be middle class with such blatant annoyance towards the other social classes. “I’m happy to be here to serve the public and have the opportunity to give back,” and pivot and smile for the camera. Any other questions she could give a canned beauty pageant answer to? End world hunger, stop racial stereotyping, maybe put an end to child bullying?
She seemed a bit taken back by his words, this earnin bit of grin. What do you know even the best newest of employees can slip up their illusional happiness at trying to prove something. She only answered with the most barbie sounding attitude, this making his grin drop and eyeroll. "Sweetheart think kindness, good looks, and happiness going to help give you amanging job or raised paycheck. Don't count the hours or days, you'd go crazy." With that he shook his head, began to clean out the blender they recently used for the last customer.
Winter was here and the storm that had come a month earlier was still staying. Julius had all but ran into the cafe that was far away from his usual workplace. So why was he here then? A friend of his had wanted to meet up with him here to ask him a few questions. Julius was unsure what they were about but he had agreed nonetheless. He had the day off and it might be nice to catch up with an old friend.[break][break]
There was a bell signalling his arrival as the male stepped inside and closed the door behind him. His body still shivering from the residual cold from the outside. He can really use some tea right now. Gloved hands fished out his phone to see that he was half an hour early for the meeting. It was better to be early than it was to be late. Besides, he had brought a book to read in order to pass the time.[break][break]
Julius moved up the line only to see two familiar figure. One (Signus) was rather expected seeing as he worked here. Julius was also expecting the boy to narrow his eyes at him. The other, was more surprising as he was sure the girl was a librarian and not a barista..not that one could not have ore than one occupation. He simply did not know that she worked here. "Karin," he greeted the girl with a small nod before also giving one to Signus, "one matcha tea please."

Rin laughed, half to herself. Was this guy delusional? "Have you met literally anyone with those qualities?" She huffed. Besides, if crazy was the worst thing that could result from her best try then how was it not worth it? Life wasn't paved and smoothed; it was bumpy and there were stumbles and falls along the way. Rin refused to fall into her parents' footsteps and this was the best way to avoid it. [break][break]
The crisp jingle of the bell caused Rin to yank her head around and force on a smile. Snow flittered in behind the person as the door closed. "Welcome!" She greeted the customer, happily. Then turned back to Signus, hoping he'd stay quiet about the former interaction around the customer. She narrowed her eyes slightly; the last thing she needed was a bad comment card on bickering employees. [break][break]
The sound of her name caused the brunette to turn back around and smile. "Oh, hi," Karin was slightly caught off-guard. Should she explain the second job? Was that anyone's business? After a few seconds of deliberation, she decided to skim over the topic. "Anything else?" She chirped, punching the buttons in to ring up his order.
