Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius wondered if there was going to be some research about how citizens of New Paris will view snow after this was over. He knew that for himself, he was starting to fall away from fascination to annoyance. This storm was certainly a hindrance to just about everything. It made it harder to travel from location to location. Honestly, Julius almost wondered if he could just make a wish to another evoker to just end this snow. There were certainly some who had become accustomed to it...something Julius could understand but that did not stop the irritation.[break][break]
The male entered the library and his body welcomed the warmth that it provided. In fact, he had closed the door as quickly as he can without slamming it before approaching the front desk. it seemed Karin was working here today and not the cafe. "Excuse me," he started once he was at the front desk, "I...do...do you have...any...self-help...boosk...for...mentoring...or...teaching?" It seemed that with two interns under his wings and a mentee of sorts (he was unsure of how to categorize Jayce) it was imperative that Julius learned how to teach people.[break][break]
Years ago, Julius would have never seen himself in such a position.

The smell of old books was Karin's favorite part of working at the library. It had other perks: decent pay, holidays off, mediocre insurance, and the possibility of a retirement. Snowy days spent in the comfort of a novel based on a famous science study were the best days. Karin had loved the snow since she was a child; it was one of the few free joys of the world. Unfortunately, she was beginning to feel less enthusiastic about the white blanket that kept raising her electricity bill. An easy fix for that was working long hours at the library, which was always warm and the bills for which were never thrust into her mailbox. If anything, Rin had come to the conclusion that excitement over frozen particles of rain was for children; she was too old to be amused by something so impractical and problematic.
[break][break]
A gust of cold forced Rin's eyes up from her book and towards the door. Her icy stare fell on a familiar face as the man closed the door back. Karin didn't know Julius very well, but he had seemed to be nice enough from the times she'd met him. She slipped into her usual happy persona and dogeared her current page in the novel she was reading. Rin placed the book cover down on her desk; she'd realized quickly as a teenager that genius wasn't widely spotlighted in society. Most people were threatened by intelligence, and threatening was the last impression she wanted to give while at work.
[break][break]
She listened to Julius's question, before tapping her chin and nodding. "We do. They should be in; not many people check out self-help books these days," Rin nodded, more to herself than anyone. She wouldn't want people to know that she needed help, so she was in agreement with those people that avoided them. She turned to her computer to check the location of said books, "Looking to start teaching?" She questioned while she typed.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius gave a nod understanding why people had no need to go to such areas. Most, if not then all, the patrons who came to the library were most likely functional. In other words, they have no reason to actually get such books. The prosecutor, on the other hand, was barely functional. He was good at his work or at least proficient enough to have earned his position but social norms were hard for him to understanding. Interacting with other people besides the obligated questions and answers ha always been difficult. Perhaps it was a miracle that he had lived this far without ever going through guidebooks for conversations.[break][break]
"Somewhat. I...have..some interns..I...I wish to...pass...what experience...I have..to them...well enough," he explained hoping that it would narrow down the search. "But also...have you...been...to...the...book club...lately?" he asked, his finding the counter much more interesting at the moment. He has not been going to the book club lately due to how busy he was and well...he would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little bit guilty about that.

Self-help books came in about every size, shape, and form Karin realized after having pulled up their list of the genre. From How to Use a Computer to Why is My Cat Coughing, there was about any topic you could imagine. Of course, they weren't all available and a good bit of them had to be requested from other libraries. One such title did happen to catch her eye and she paused as she noticed it: Meaningful Relationships for Dummies. Maybe that was worth looking into? She wasn't very good at the whole 'friendship' thing and she had no problem admitting that. People had a tendency to let her down when she was counting on them the most.
[break][break] "Understandable," she replied back absentmindedly as she continued to scroll through various book titles. Karin paused for a moment and glanced over at Julius. It probably wasn't her place to tell him that he'd probably do just fine without the help of a book. Most self-help books were money gimmicks anyway, she reminded herself. Returning back to the screen, Rin nodded. "How about Teach like a Wizard: Third Installment of the Education Serise? It looks like we have that. Your other option is one more aimed at preschool teachers but perhaps that would be helpful with interns?" She chuckled to herself.
[break][break]
Ah, the book club. Rin was always right on time. It kept people from forming an opinion of her; she was just the quiet, out of the way girl who was never late or too early. "Yes, have you not been there?" Rin tapped her chin. She hadn't noticed him in the past few sessions but she also didn't pay a lot of attention.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Karin suggested a book that was the third in the series Julius did not even know there was a series of self-help book as if they were a series chronicling someone's life. The idea felt so strange. It made him wonder if he should read the first in the series if someone believed that there should be a series of books to help someone on the same subject. The other option he had that was related to teaching was for pre-schoolers. In other words, he wasn't exactly the target audience and for some reason, the librarian found that to be amusing. The prosecutor raised a brow unsure of how she found that amusing enough to chuckle at it. Another social nuance that he was clearly missing, which while not entirely new, was still slightly frustrating. However, he saw no reason to voice his question, "can you...show me...where the book is?"[break][break]
Julius gave a nod, he has not been attending too many book club meetings lately. In fact, last month he had only attended one of them. He knew that members of the book clubs were only at worst disappointed in him if they noticed at all. Still, that didn't exactly appease his guilt at all. "How..has it...been?" he asked rather curious about just what book they were reading or what kind of discussions they were having.

Time was passing slower than Karin was used to and her smile faded when she realized her joke wasn't received. Did it really matter? No, she didn't have some irrational need to be liked. She did, however, enjoy being able to weave the illusion that she was the nice, simple girl she pretended to be. Blue eyes glazed over to a bored look as she dropped her facade. What a tiring image to uphold. "Of course I can. That's part of my job." Rin stated matter-of-factly. Her smile returned and she stood up from her chair and paused to jot down the author of the book on her hand. [break][break] Karin paused to glance up at Julius. They weren't really close enough to be worried about each other's well being, but Rin couldn't help but wonder if something was going on. She hadn't noticed his absence and there had been a decline in attendance since the winter storms anyway so the brunette doubted that there was anything major keeping him from participating. "There's been a lack of attendance. I'm assuming from the weather," she gestured toward the door. "Otherwise, it's been the norm. We're reading a mystery at the moment. You haven't missed much if you're worried." She stepped from behind the counter and motioned for him to follow her.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius caught the way the smile was momentarily dropped and he was unsure if that was because what Karin found amusing was gone or if she was disappointed in his lack of reaction. Should he have tried to laugh at whatever it was that was amusing? Fake it? Hmm...in all honesty, the prosecutor had never been the best liars. It was soon back when the librarian told the prosecutor that she can very well help him as it was her job. He then asked about the book club as she wrote down the title of the book and author.[break][break]
Gray eyes glanced outside at Karin's prompting. Yes, not everyone could be expected to attend even if Julius's inconsistent attendance had happened shortly before that. Then again, it could very well be argued that it was not noticeable. The members knew about his job and how busy it could be. Crime never exactly took a break and so neither could justice. [break][break]
Despite the fact that Karin had stated the magus was not missing much, the idea that he was missing a discussion about a mystery novel certainly sounded like he was missing quite a lot. After all, mystery was his favorite genre of them all. The two-toned haired male followed about Karin, "what...is..the name..of the book?" He honestly wished he could attend but he had to try to solve the mystery of this novel. Although it wasn't as fun when he couldn't discuss his ideas and of course, the temptation to simply read ahead because he had to find out. Mystery novels were the most fun but also difficult genre to discuss if one was to ask Julius. "If...it's...alright." Just in case. Maybe Karin wouldn't want to tell him because he hadn't been attending the book club. He wasn't really sure.
