Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
A woman with was in the back room wearing what looked to be expensive black leather pants, and a rather nice looking loose black blouse. Her long hair was hanging loose all mixture of curl and straight, as if she curled the hair before letting it hang naturally being pulled to straight over time. Her earrings looked overpriced and had a slight flair to them, why the gems looks to be Tahiti black pearl carved to look like a lotus flower. This followed by a simple tahiti black pearl necklace around her neck, it was clear from these gems alone who was the richest person in that whole building. Well that.. and her name was in the store's named after all. "de Masséur Jewelry", something that the the family had built from nothing long long many generations ago.
Holding out a small diamond, she inspected its color and cut. She must make sure none, absolutely none were replaced with fake ones, there had been a recent.. Oddities going around with other gem places, and she better not learn it was her business doing it. Once she was certain with this fine collection of pink diamonds were of correct value, she placed them back in the vault, picked herself up with practiced grace of ballad and headed toward the front.
She looked over the selections, two employees wearing black suites looking like they were dealing with customers, certainly looked from time to time in her direction. By the way they were acting, they didn't want to upset her, and knew exactly what would happen should she decide... They weren't sparkly enough for their shining gem company.
Julius really should have known this day would come. Even if he was still young and new to the job, someone had told him he should go to the upcoming party for politicians and prosecutors. Julius was sure it was because of the cold case that was now finally solved being related to him rather than his own merit. He hasn't exactly put that many criminals behind bars since the start of his career yet to actually catch anyone's attention. Well...there was that paperwork for the previous mayor jail sentence but that was a different story. Julius didn't really do much outside of filling papers out.[break][break]
Nonetheless, this party was a good chance to make connections and good first impression, which also meant that he needed to change his appearance...a little bit. Not too much but he should probably wear some kind of accessory right? Like a brooch, broaches would go well with suits. The only problem was that Julius was not exactly the most well-versed in fashion, quite the opposite, and therefore he found himself intently staring at the various gemmed brooches as if they can create some kind of convincing arguments on why he should buy them. It didn't happen and the prices...honestly the prices made a good convincing argument to not buy them. Despite the fact that he was a prosecutor, Julius would certainly not consider himself rich.[break][break]
It...it would be weird to ask if there was a cheaper one, right? Yeah...probably...maybe..."Can...someone help me?" he muttered noticing a figure close to him. One that was wearing a blouse instead of a suit like the other employees. Maybe she was even a customer, he wasn't exactly sure as he wasn't looking up at the moment. Nonetheless...maybe this person can help him? Surely whoever it was, could not be as bad as him when it comes to buying jewelry right?
"can someone help me?" a voice came from a male with short black hair beside her, she turned giving the male standing by all the broaches her full attention. "Yes, Sir what can I do for you?" She asked walking over taking in his nice looking outfit, and scents coming off him. Was that a mediocre scent? Estimated money amount, medium range, price level medium to low. Customer importance, why the same as any other, perhaps lower than most. Male, incredibly daft possibly even useless in terms of such majestic values products.
She put on a small flair, that would def be noticed by most, probably missed by this peculiar individual. A small flair of hand movement to expose the correct portions of feminine sections, to arouse individuals and lower defenses. The skill taught by her father at a rather young age, in an attempt to get somebody to marry her. Too bad she never said yes to all suitors given.
Sir...so this was an employee then. Julus mulled over for a moment glancing over at the selections on display once again while keeping the woman in his line of sight. He saw the small shift in her movement but did not think much of it. It didn't really look anything too out of the norm or at least nothing he should really pay too much attention to. This wasn't exactly an investigation or court hearing. Replaying the question in his head, the prosecutor looked over at the various choices and ways he can approach this. How much of the party should he inform her about? He would hardly want to bore her and in all honesty, he didn't like to talk too much. [break][break]
"I'm going to be attending to a formal party," he started before taking a short pause to mull over his next set of words. That sounded like a good starter...maybe that was really all she needed. Formal was the dress code. "I was wondering...what broach would look good on a black suit." There, two sentences. Nothing that would bore the employee nor force him to talk more than he would like. "Do you have any recommendations?" Hopefully something that wouldn't cost too much.
He explained the situation, along with asking a question? Statement? Before finishing with his actual question of her suggestion. Oh? So he was going to a formal party, what type of formal party with a black suit? Hmm.. She turned from him toward the case, her pose slightly changing to be more thoughtful, arms in front, hand hovering under chin.
Her eyes scanned the different designs debating on which one matched this pecuilar individual. He put off a silent type, maybe a black cat? Her eyes looked voer at the cat, no what if the formal party had people superstitious, it was cheap though. Her eyes flickered over to the one near by, a white dove? It was peace and harmony, although due to the diamond quartz mix it was extremely expensive. Her eyes moved over to more traditional such as four leaf clover, or a simple flower. No. No. Ugh. She looked back to the customer in thought, okay standing up straight... Perfectly analytical. Required.. Something else.
Her frustration grew, she turned toward the broaches again. What would fit? A book, no, laptop. No. She had one or two ideas what pick.. but she wasn't sure how he would feel about them. 1 was pricey, less than what she estimated was his price range by looks alone.. The other, was rather cheap. "How about that one?" She pointed to the more pricey one first, waiting for his response. If he declined, she'd point to the next one, "How about this one instead?" Should he deny both, she'd put more effort into expression why he should buy the more pricey one, how it suits who he is.
There was a long moment of silence after Julius's request but it wasn't so much because the girl needed to process if only because she was looking at the selection. The fact that she had not quickly suggested something for him was quite a relief. For one, she didn't just throw something expensive and tried to sell it off to him so she might be putting some thought to it and more importantly...it meant that picking jewelry was not easy. The latter really made him feel better about himself. [break][break]
The woman soon suggested two, one of them was rather pricey. It was a chained brooch that connected to a rooster, the national state animal. That honestly fitted him rather well but the price wasn't exactly very agreeing. It wasn't that Julius couldn't afford it. He could but did he really want to spend that much on something that he might even not even wear that often? The other option was something cheaper and honestly more enticing even if it did look plainer. It was nothing more than a flower brooch. It would stand out on the black suit and he suppose that should be enough, right? Pale hands melodically tapped on the glass as he tried to think this one through. Invest in something good but he might only wear it a few times or in something a bit cheaper. A sigh parted from his lips before he turned to look at the employee.[break][break]
"I believe, I shall take the second one." The prosecutor shouldn't need to stand out too much. He was still rather new after all so just looking decent should be enough for the party. Maybe in the future, he'll invest in something a bit more expensive.
As he wished to look at both, she silently... silently judging on the inside.. Watched as he actually debated on the broach whether or not to actually buy the more expensive. Really, she doesn't understand why people debate... You can always guess the end result, it will always be the cheap on.. Unless you encourage them, or they have a party with them. Seriously, just waste of time.
Eventually he did pick the cheaper one out of the two, it didn't really hurt her jewelry store as a whole... mediocres come in, spend couple bucks, get the hell out. It was a rather simple process, and really men were so damn pathetic she cared even less. Just too bad, that rooster was such a lovely thing, really really suited him.
Shrugging all the thoughts, she gave a nod, went around him and the counter, pulling a key, soon unlocking the case and pulling out the broach. Once pulling it out, she showed him to take a more personal closer look, moment he gave a nod approval she'd ring him up. "Is there anything else you'll like? Such as protection should a gem pop out, or.." Protocol... Faster you go through the motions, the faster they get out. Filthy, dirty, men. Moronic waste of time. Just too bad, something about him.. Reminded her of her father, why did that just piss her even more off?
It did not take long for the girl to move and take the requested item from the case. At her beckoning, Julius took a few steps to look closer at it. He gave a nod agreeing to it upon closer inspection saw that the design was good. At her question though, the male shook his head. He didn't really plan to buy any protections or guarantees, he never did. The prosecutor often tried to take good care of his belongings. However..."Is that the only one left?" he couldn't help but ask with an arched brow. Usually one would only sell what was in the display case if it was the last one. If that was the case...would the price be lower? He knew in certain cases it was as there was a chance it had been touched multiple times but it really depended on the shop, didn't it? All he could do was wait to see.
He wished not to have protection, she gave a silent nod of acceptance typing this information into the computer, not bothering to argue with him. Then he spoke, curious gazed holding an arch brow. 'is that the only one left?', she hesitated at his question, why did he ask that? Why did he care? If this was the only one left, she looked up at him studying him hard. Quite peculiar question, a man being worried about something other than himself or his company. She gave a small gentle sigh, might as well answer the question, a small passion flowing down her heart to her finger tips holding the gem. "There is never more than 1 in any jeweler's home, if they attempt to reproduce a gem design to look exactly the same, then they are not true jeweler's. Each one of our products is treated as if they are individual unique from one another. As the gems we cut are each following a unique path, birth from their own homes.. Pressured and moved, they are not simply molded to look the same.. much like you shoes or cellphones."
She gently placed it into a fancy box, showing it clearly to him how gentle and much passion she put into this movement. Turning to him once more eyes large, almost desperately calling him to understand what she was talking about. "These are not just products... But creations to be enjoyed by all who set eye on them. Do you wish to make payments over time or all at once? payments are simply 10 dollars a month for a full two years, it goes up from there." She looked at him, studying him, debating that he'd pay the higher price versus lower longevity method. After all.. Who wants to be in-debt to a jewelry company? Plus with interest rate, it'll in the end make him poorer.
Julius gave a nod, so it wasn't like normal merchandises. Well, that was something to keep note of should the prosecutor ever do this again. Which, unfortunately, was certain. Although..the way she commented on how it was different from shoes and cellphone...the difference between merchants and artists he supposed.[break][break]
Gray eyes watched the girl place the brooch. There was a caution in her movement as if to make sure that she would not damage the item in her hand. "I'll pay all of it now," he stated almost absentmindedly as he took out his card. It would be better for him in the long run even if it hurt him quite a bit now. Once he had paid for the trinket, the male gave a small 'goodbye' and left.[break][break]
Mistakes were made...that was the only thing that crossed Julius's mind as he stared at the people. He really did not belong here. Not so much because he couldn't pass. Oh no, his clothes were alright or at the very least they did not make him stand out too much. It was more of...well...it was just too much for him. There were too many people, some with interest in him while others minded their own business. Some also seemed to just want to strike up a conversation for one reason or another. [break][break]
So, he had been more than happy to walk out to the balcony with his drink. The white wine in his hand, the male had hoped to be able to have some time just for himself only to see a familiar girl with gray hair. "Madame Masseur?" he couldn't help but ask...assuming it was the same girl..and if he was even remembering the right name on her name tag.
Happy to finish the transaction, she'd sent him on his way, another success customer. Once he was gone, she returned her work checking and every jewel, before having to leave to get ready for the party that night. Oh yes, the boringness of business.
At the party she wore a swan white dressed, themed with feathers along the design.. She was the absolute best picking out dresses for their price, it came with practice dealing with jewelry. Speaking of jewelry she had simple white diamonds, rather simple shapes of small birds for earrings and necklace. The necklace of course silver chained, with the bird as a small little trinket.
She once more found herself, avoiding the party, it just... So obnoxious all those men, all those business partners. Gets boring making connections after the first two hours, only to realize... All they cared about was complimenting your outfit, your youth, and asking if you would like a drink. They'll happily grab one. The absolute fools, probably planned to drug her, probably sign papers or some annoying agenda. Oh well. Why she's out here, minding her own... Starry gem night.
Then, her peaceful night was broken, the cool air... Drifting away forgotten. By a voice behind her, Why... The male had the courtesy to call out her name in most respectful manners, quite... Impressive. She turned expecting some large corp, or maybe a secretary of such a corp. A son? Possibly heir.
What she didn't expect was the male who was just at her little jewelry home earlier that day, wearing the very object she suggested he to buy. She shifted slightly on the balcony she leaned on, heart sputtering a moment impressed by his courage. Quickly wiping it away, he was after all mediocre... Just another wannabe. "Monsieur Vesper, This is the formal you spoke of earlier. My, my you should have picked the pricier one. May even get a simple secretary job for one of these great men." She called out his name, recalling the paperwork she had to fill out as well his card, one should never forget a customer.... Most of the time.
She shifted slightly, again naturally exposing more skin in rather natural feminine manipulating mannerisms. Something by now she was highly unaware of, and probably do nonstop should she do it on purpose. "How did you manage to get an invite here?" She asked coyly, though there was a small hint of rudeness and very little expectation for him. As if she expected the excuse to be.. rob all the females here or to report on the event with my pathetic camera and journalistic skills.
Julius merely stared back as the girl greeted him back, unsure how to read her comment. Either it was gentle teasing as people seemed to like to act close at parties or it was meant to be some kind of snide insult. Again, he was not exactly sure as he did not go to these kinds of things. "I don't have any plans to be a secretary," he decided to reply to that part instead. It was the easiest to reply to because well, he really had no plans to be anyone's secretary. It wasn't so much as because he looked down on them but being a secretary didn't let him put criminals in jail. It didn't give him the power to think about deals. No, it was too limiting for his goal of keeping this city safe.[break][break]
The girl shifted once again revealing more skin like she did when they first met. A part of him wondered if she was cold but it didn't seem like she noticed the exposure of her skin. He elected to not say anything for now. If she was cold, he could just offer her his jacket later, or she could also just head back inside and let him have the balcony to himself. Either one really. [break][break]
"I was invited," he answered walking over to the edge of the balcony with her but making sure to keep some space between the two that clearly showed the two as strangers rather than friends who had happened to run into each other at a party. "What about you, madame?" he asked back. It was rather unexpected to see an employee of a jewellery store show up to a party like this. Was she invited by someone as well?
His silent still, very very soft dry comment made her pause. He had no plans to be a secretary? As if that was.. She gave a small little giggle that soon busted into laughter, this guy. She covered her mouth soon giving a small cough, "Forgive me, that was rude of me. I hadn't expected such a straightforward answer." Her face gave a small blush at the admittance of her own crimes.
He continued on the conversation explaining he was invited, she raised an eyebrow waiting for more information. As well quite curious on who would invite such a still odd fellow to the party. He certainly felt an antipartyman. He then asked her the same, why was she here? She gave a small dramatic sigh, "The life of a Jewelry store owner, along with owning an jewelry comes my way" She placed her hand on forehead dramatically. "Every single rich man here wishes to just to have great connections with a girl like me." The way she said it made sound extremely to have such a connection, and all the guys were just pigs wanting her.. The gem of gems of females.
She gave a small purr, "It actually gets tiring and boring, but its required to keep company image. After all these fellows, and their little mates, all buy from my store bringing all the riches along with them. Whats one event? What... A week? Every other week? " She sighed feeling slightly down, leaning on the balcony just a bit, "It feels different now... Without my father.. As if the world watching me so closely, to slip up.. To catch me, and pull me into this miserable rich cult the top society has created." She paused suddenly turning with a blush toward him, "Forgive me, I went too far. Why would one like you wish to be here of all places.... You don't really read as a party man."
Julius was unsure of how the girl had been rude but gave a nod nonetheless if only to appease to her guilt. Her cheeks having a slight pink to them that made the male wonder if she was, in fact, getting hot rather than cold. He wasn't exactly medically intuned so for all he knew, it could also be her body's way of trying to warm itself up..without shivering. Hmm...that didn't sound right, not even to him. Embarrassment perhaps? The girl did apologize so clearly she thought she did something wrong. Yes, that sounded more likely.[break][break]
The girl merely arched a brow and Julius, in turn, tilted his head curious as to what she wanted but unable to fully read her intent. Was she doubting him? Well in truth, he couldn't say he blamed her. He asked her what she was doing here and for a moment, he felt like the night has gone dark and there was now a spotlight on the girl...like a theatrical play. She tells him her story of how she not only own the stored that he had bought from but also how rich people had chased after her. it sounded almost like what he saw on tv, that for a moment he wondered if she was parodying it. However, that didn't feel right. She was clearly younger than him, for her to own a company at such a young age, there would be people who would want to take advantage of that. [break][break]
The prosecutor obtained more information than he had thought he would and in truth he wasn't sure what to do it with. Or rather, he didn't know how to comfort her. Moreau would be much better at this than he would but the man was most likely inside right now. He was almost thankful when she asked him a question. It gave him time while still doing his best (but still most likely haphazard attempt) in carrying out the information.[break][break]
"I'm not," came the confession as he drummed his pale fingers on the railing, "I'm not good with...people." It was something many people catch on...eventually. There were also those that simply thought Julius was standoffish and arrogant with how unpersonable he was. He understood that, and he understood how he needed to change that. However, it was hard to talk to other people for him. "I'm a prosecutor," he informed her, "and I got invited by another prosecutor as his plus one. He wanted me to come here to try to make connections." To which, Julius had a feeling he wasn't doing a very good job. He was barely able to carry out most of the conversations he found himself in during this party. [break][break]
"I..don't know how you feel..." despite the fact that Julius was a prosecutor which did have a good starting salary, he was far from rich. He still needed to build his way up if he wanted to become rich. Not that it was his goal even if it would be nice to not have to any financial worries. Then again, he also wouldn't be fully sure what he would do with all the money a stereotypical rich person had. "But..." but what? He understands? He didn't. He sympathized with her? People don't react to pity well, or at least Julius certainly didn't. "I...you helped me pick a brooch." This was why Julius really should only talk in the courtroom. Conversations were always so difficult. "If you want to..talk...I'll listen." That was all he could really offer her wasn't it?[break][break]
"Or...if you prefer to be alone..." he could leave her to her thoughts if that was what she wanted. Although from his own experience, people don't tend to want to isolate themselves for too long. And in all honesty, he didn't want to really leave the balcony either. "Have you been too a..." normal party? No, that didn't sound right. "small party before?" Was that better?
There seemed a long pause, just long enough for her gaze to wander actually looking at the guy before her rather as a price tag, but another fellow at the party. He had rather short hair, wore a nice outfit, nice for his budget... You work with what you are given, the more work.. The more appreciation should be given. He spoke cautiously about not being good with people, she hummed on these words turning them over in her mind.
That certainly would explain his pausing, soft nature, and possibly thoughtfulness? She tilted her head a bit more still thinking over his words, as he continued about being a prosecutor and being invited by another to come and network. Well.. That would cetainly flop, with him being an awkward silent character. Then... Maybe he was such a professional knew how to appear certain ay to get others to trust him, perhaps this was all motive to get to know her better? Get the connections she had, quite a few, especially Media and Gemologists.
"I..don't know how you feel..." She flinched not quite understanding what he meant by that exact statement. "Is that it? Are you incapable of feeling what others feel, almost as if you were shut off?"like a diamond... or gem.. She felt a slight flinch, her Father he was a Diamond, the clearest sharpest coldest diamond out there. Capable seing right through you, incapable of feeling what you were feeling.. proclaiming that tears were for those who wanted nothing more than attention, attention that should be spent more business or marriage. She gave a small sigh as he explained about the brooch, yes the brooch, yes another thing in the day."I...you helped me pick a brooch." With a small quiet look, she looked in the distance where the flags were blowing on the wind. "If you want to..talk...I'll listen." There it was, the talk and listen, the reoslution of people gaining trust... her trust, a movement to raise in the heirarchy, a rather foolish movement.. A manipulation tactic, she felt herself tighten up, a wall rising. She was particularly happy he caught on her little growth of anger, changing the subject about small parties. Unless this too.. was a manipulation tactic... Attempt to hang out with her more, invite her to his own. Probably a small pathetic party, where only the mediocre go to, where everything was all dandy and happy.. Drunk parties.
She turned to him once more, studying him, she put on a much rough angled movements, clearly attemtping to cut off any his attempt to be friendly. Just another trick in the book. "I do not prefer to be alone, the better question will be is do you?" She paused slightly raising higher in her heels, "You have issues understanding others, correct? Well, why not explain, I'll certainly listen. It is quite contrary you may be incapable of speaking with others, yet here you are speaking.. with.. with.. me" She paused on that last part.
