Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Kiddo? Julius blinked at those words. From her voice, she couldn't have been too old and well..those words were usually used by the elderly. At least when someone was addressing the prosecutor as 'kiddo' anyway. He saw the thumbs up but couldn't explain why. Even with her words of wanted help, Julius hadn't exactly done anything to warrant such a reaction. Unless...gray eyes looked up. Was she trying to tell him to move up? Was this how firemen do it?{break][break]
The raven haried male waited for the other to move past him before moving behind her, close to the wall as she had instructed. A place a child would hide? Where would Julius hide if he was scared? As a child, he usually would run over to Alex but what if Alex wasn't home? Well then...under the cover of his bed? Although, if the child hiding in such a place would most likely have met an unfortunate end. Best not to suggest that location.[break][break]
One moment, the girl had called him kiddo and the next mister. Was she confused by Julius's age? Then again, many did seem to think he was older or younger than he looked. He could never really understand why it was usually one of those two. "No," he answered before spotting something falling. Instantly, he grabbed at the girl's hand and pulled her back before one of the beams crashed down and hitting the floor. "Can...you jump?"
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius can remember the many times Alex would hold his hand during their younger days. They were rather common back then, whenever the two would walk to the bus or walk through the city together. There was a sense of safety in holding Alex's hand, of knowing that his brother was there. Yet, this was different. Holding hands back then did not give him visions as it did now. Not just visions but emotions, emotions that weren't his own. They were Alex's...and he can feel it. Alex holding a child and the fear and panic that only added to Julius's own already turbulent emotions. It was hard to distinguish his own from Alex's as Alex made the wish only to be called a liar. Then there was a woman, the woman who corrupted Alex and the pain. The burning sensation and...[break][break]
And it was gone. It was thankfully gone and Julius once again found himself gasping for air. This...it...Alex's hand was coming back and the prosecutor slapped the older Vesper's hand away. "Don't touch me!" he shouted out before the words had a chance to process through his mind. That..it was..no...he couldn't..."you..." he started unsure of what to say. Because...if...if that was Alex's wish...to have a family a real family...one where Alex didn't have to be a parent, didn't have to grow up so fast.[break][break]
It was Julius's fault.[break][break]
Perhaps it shouldn't have surprised him and in all honesty, a part of Julius wasn't surprised. He had those fears, it was part of the reason why he had moved out. He didn't want to be a burden but it was too late. He...he was a part of this? It had been his fault that Alex couldn't live the life he wanted, have the family he wanted because of course Julius wasn't enough. The nagging thought had always been in the back of his mind whenever he saw a normal family. A family was usually at least made of three people, not just two. How could someone like Julius be a good replacement? If, he had been a better younger brother. If he had been more independent, maybe none of this would have happened. He knew in the back of his mind, despite their childish promise of being partners, that had never been the case. Partnership meant equals and Julius was nothing compared to Alex. Not in how much he depended on the other.[break][break]
"I'm..." he began unable to look at his brother in the eye as he took a deep breath. The shaking was still there but Julius needed to put Alex first. "I'm..I'm so sorry..." Because it had been his fault and he didn't know how to fix this. He wasn't sure if he could even fix this. Again, slowly his hand reached up to clutch a portion of his hair in an attempt to stabilize himself. "What...what am I...." he began, his voice slightly cracking as grief poured into his voice. Again, he let out a shaky breath as he tried to calm down his breathing despite the panic sensation. "What am I supposed to do?"[break][break]
As a magi he needed to fight Alex but Alex was the only family he had left. He had a duty, a duty to protect others. No matter how Alex might feel, Julius couldn't let him hurt other people and collect their starseed. But...Alex...Alex could never be wrong, right?
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Calm? How was Julius suppose to calm down when it was so hard to breathe. Why wasn't it affecting Alex? Then again, maybe it was a good thing it wasn't affecting Alex. It was better for it to not affect Alex, he wouldn't want his brother to go through what he was going through right now.[break][break]
But also, he needed information right now. He needed to know, was what Sandrine said true? That goal...that goal was the only thing keeping his head straight. As a magi, he needed to know. Hearing his brother saying death would have been more satisfying, caused Julius's body to stiffen. There was a small wave of relief at the revelation that Alex didn't kill them but the idea that Alex wanted to kill them? His brother had to understand, right? Killing was against the law. Their parents were murdered. Yet, Alex looked so calm saying that, talking about his magic. He truly had it then. Which meant that Sandrine had to be right.[break][break]
Gray eyes tried to focus on his brother but there was still a distant look to them. His vision still going in and out between being blurry and it's usual sharpness. What? Alex...Alex can help him. That..that was what those words meant. But, Alex was a corrupted. Corrupted were the enemies to magis. Corrupted took in many shapes, they were the skeletons on Halloween that killed indiscriminately, they were the creatures known as youmas, they were the people who took star seeds and Alex was one of them. An enemy, someone who fought in the name of chaos. But...but...Alex was his brother. Alex was family, the one who wouldn't lie to Julius. Yet hadn't he tried to earlier. But if Julius couldn't trust Alex, who was there in this world that he could trust? As much as he respected those such as Marcus or Cassian, they were never that close to him. He didn't fully let his guard down and relax around them the same way he did with Alex.[break][break]
"I...I...." what....what was he suppose to do? What was the right choice? Gray eyes once again tried to focus on the Vesper in front of him, silently imploring his brother to make the decision. Alex...Alex would alway know what was best for him, right?
Was there anyone? Julius was unsure of how long the water can hold. Even if it helped with the heat and his coat helped keep his skin away from the fire, the smoke was not exactly very good for his health. Still, if he can just get in and out, it should be fine. He screamed praying he would hear someone's voice in this apartment, although he had a feeling he might have to check every floor. The prosecutor should have asked the girl where her brother was before running in. There were reasons why he wasn't a firefighter.[break][break]
Before being able to take a step, he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around to see well..a properly dressed firefighter behind him. By the sound of the voice, he would assume it was a girl who seemed rather casual about this. Yet, her eyes eyed the fire, so perhaps this was just how she did her job. Julius would not exactly know. He took the spare oxygen mask and placing it on allowing him to breathe much easier. This had certainly helped. [break][break]
Family..the only one he had left was his brother. Although Julius saw no reason to inform the girl that. "Split up?" he suggested before he started to move towards the stairs. "I'll look...at even floors...you look...at odd?" came the suggestion. Yet, despite his words, he didn't leave the woman out of sight. She was the professional, as she had phrased it, and therefore her plans would hold much more weight than his own.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Did...did Alex ask something? Gray eyes shaking unable to focus on anything. The voice sounded muffled. Focus...focus...focus on the voice. No matter what was going on, Julius needed to be there. Fortunately, he managed to catch on the second set of words. "I...I can't....I can't breathe..." he managed out with a shaky breath. This..he was sure he had seen this before right? Not that the sensation was familiar. But he had seen it...seen something like this. Someone telling him they had trouble breathing but where? Where had he seen this? Why was it so hard to collect anything. Why was it suddenly so hard to breathe? Why was everything getting blurry?[break][break]
Pale hands moved from his hair to his head. There...there wasn't any injury there. In fact, there was no pain but his hands were shaking. Focus..Julius...focus. He...he needed to figure this out. Alex...Alex was going to be alright. Focus on that..just..focus on that. Even if it felt like he was dying, he wasn't. He couldn't be. It..it just wouldn't logically make sense. "Why?" he barely managed out through his pants. "W-why....why...are you....what..." come on Julius, words! Anyone can do this! Communication was something basic for humans, it wasn't something one should be struggling. "Did..did you...kill anyone?"
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]One shot in the knee, enough so that the woman wouldn't be able to make a run for it. Tears were in her eyes but Julis was quite certain it was from pain. So she was not someone used to combat, that would mean that the prosecutor had an advantage. Good. He met her glare with a sharp look of his own, waiting to see what she would do. There was a scream before the woman transformed into a familiar figure.[break][break]
"Alex?" he asked.[break][break]
Alex...Alex was...Sandrine was right?[break][break]
Gray eyes widen as he can only stare at the scene. Alex...Alex was the girl...Alex killed...his brother was a corrupted...he hurt his brother...what...what was happening? It was only Alex's voice that brought Julius back to reality. Right...Alex was in danger. Everything else can wait, he had to help him. Julius all but scurried over to the older Vesper dispelling the arrow before getting the first aid kit from the cabinet. He took the alcohol cleanser along with a bandage to wrap around the knee.[break][break]
"This will sting," he warned before he started to wipe his brother's knee, with the man (or was he a woman considering what Julius had just seen) now sitting on the chair. The younger dark haired male did his best to be gentle as he cleaned the wound before bandaging it. "I...I'm...." it felt sudden. Just before this, despite his worry, there was a sense of calm. As long as there were a goal and obstacles, Julius knew what to do. If the person in front of him was nothing more than a criminal, the answer always came so easily. But...but..he..."I'm...I didn't..." was there an excuse? He had hurt Alex. It didn't matter what happened, Julius had hurt Alex. Alex who had raised him, Alex who had sacrificed so much and what did Julius do? Not only had he hurt him, but he hadn't even recognized his own family member.[break][break]
Slowly his pale hand clutched onto the fringes of his hair. It...it was...why? It was getting hard to breathe, everything was feeling hot, the room..it was moving. Why? Was this magic? Why was it so hard to breathe?
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Here? Julius narrowed his eyes but he can see the lasso has loosened. If she was answering correctly then what did she mean by here? Here in this building? In this room somewhere? A closet? Julius opened his mouth ready to demand her to be more specific when suddenly the woman charged at him. Their heads connected and the pain caused him to temporarily lose his concentration. The lasso was gone but at least the barrier was still there. "Where specifically is here?" Julius asked conjuring his bow and aiming the arrow at her knee ready to shoot should she try to move. It wouldn't kill her, but it would pin her. And who knows, maybe it would even hurt her. That may serve as a reminder to not harm others. He could also call the police about a potential kidnapping case right now and not dispel the barrier until the police get here. Then they can interrogate her before sentencing her. Even if they can't get her on murder due to lack of any concrete evidence, they could very well get her for kidnapping.[break][break]
Julius had already lost two of his family member with their murderer almost getting away scotfree. This time, he didn't exactly have any method of wish granting.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Usually, Julius had to focus on his goal. It wasn't so much that he didn't have the determination or the discipline to focus. However, focused did require effort, yet at the moment, it was easy to focus on the only thing that mattered to him, his brother. Even if there was no concrete evidence (as Sandrine was only a defense attorney in training), Julius did not treat her as a citizen. The fact that she refused to answer can only mean one thing, Alex was in danger and Julius needed to figure out where he was. At her refusal to answer, the whip grew tighter, "I repeat, where is Alex?" he asked, his usual monotone carrying a hint of impatience.[break][break]
She didn't react to questioning the whip. That meant that she knew about magic. Sandrine's analysis of the girl may very well be correct. She might just be a corrupted which only meant that Julius needed to get to his brother as quickly as possible.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Seeing a woman at the door felt rather...strange. It wasn't that he didn't believe Alex couldn't get a girlfriend, he was sure that his brother could achieve anything he put his mind to. Yet, for a woman to be in the room while Alex wasn't? It was strange. Even more was that the woman in front of him...it was the same woman in the photo. Actually, she didn't have the bunny ears but the facial structure looked the same, and for her to conveniently be in the same room? Either Sandrine was telling the truth or this woman was using his brother. [break][break]
Without a word, he pushed the woman in order to allow himself in before locking the door. They were on the fourth floor, so he doubted she would jump, not without risking some injury or at the very least causing people to look at her. This, however, was the picture of the corrupted Sandrine had taken a picture of before reporting on the dead woman just last week. With a wave of his hand, the door behind him was covered by a barrier, steel grey eyes glaring at the woman. They were questions he needed to ask and he wasn't going to let her lie to him.[break][break]
"Golden rays I conjure thee. To give thy truth unto me," the incarnation parted from his mouth before a lasso made of light wrapped around the girl in front of him. "Where is Alex?" He knew that there were more important questions to ask such as if she was a corrupted, who had she killed, who was she working for, how long as she been a corrupted but right now, his brother was gone when he shouldn't be and the woman Sandrine had taken a picture of and labeled as a corrupted was here.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius couldn't believe the news when he had first heard it. Alex was a corrupted. Alex, his older brother, the man who had raised him, the one who had cut through the lies of those around them, the brother who worked hard to help Julius get through his education, was a corrupted. He killed people, stole their seeds and aided chaos. Chaos, which was against order and how far he was willing to go for it. Really, when Sandrine had first told him, Julius had questioned him harshly and in a rare act, had even raised his voice and yelled at the other for even daring to make such accusations.[break][break]
Yet, Julius did notice a few things. How Alex sometimes seems to be injured and...he just had to know. He could ask...directly. It would mean telling his brother about magic (because he still refused to truly entertain the idea of Sandrine telling the truth regardless of his past record for honesty) but maybe he should. He shouldn't lie to his brother and if he tells him the truth, he can also warn his brother to get away from danger. Either way, there was no exactly much harm to reveal himself to Alex. His brother might not even panic as much as be impressed and the idea of Alex being impressed by him was almost tempting. After all, to be impressed by one's idol would be a huge accomplishment.[break][break]
And that was why Julius found himself standing in front of Alex's door. He hadn't told his brother he was visiting today (he didn't know why but Sandrine's words had unfortunately planted some small seed of doubt) but he knew that his brother didn't have class today. So hopefully...he knocked on the apartment door and waited. In his hand was a small to go bag with some French breakfast. It was the least he could do as an apology for his sudden visit.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] A shake of the head. So that means that chances are, the magician did not know who Io was. So does that mean that he was not a magi? Io was the only evoker Julius has ever met but should he really assume that? It wasn't as if he knew all that much about magic. Then again, there was a way to find out. Gray eyes caught the way his companion looked at him. His facial expression did not change (the prosecutor was unsure if it could change) but the fact that the other was even looking at him in the first place spoke of interest.[break][break]
The two continued on with the sound of footsteps and flipped pages accompanying them. The silence however wasn't awkward. There wasn't any pressure to talk, and instead it was almost a nice comfortable companion as well. Silence that was patient in allow Julius to gather his thoughts and figure out what to say rather then doing it as he speaks. There was a snapping of the book which called for the prosecutor's attention.[break][break
Silence. Nothing. So there was nothing in that book. Julius gave a small nod as they continued forth. He can feel the other looking at him, he wanted to know something. It almost felt weird, the idea of Julius knowing something the other magician did not. Even if they only knew each other for a very short time (they have spent much less than twenty-four hours together), the magi did respect him. He was the one that had brought up the existence of magic before Julius had made his contract. In other words, this was someone with more experience than him.[break][break]
"Io is-" Julius cut himself off at the sound of something. His body stiffened as he looked over at his companion who didn't seem to have made any movement to cause such a sound. So then, just what was ahead of them?
Julius was not sure what he had expected, but it wasn't a snicker, that was certain. Did he say something funny? Well at least she had not burst out laughing or else the prosecutor would really have to explain things to his co-workers. [break][break]
Assertive, it was almost funny to hear the woman say that to him. Then again, she had not seen him in court, where he acted with much more confidence. Yes, he was certainly more assertive there, more than willing to tear down any lies witnesses may make in order to give the criminal (or defendant as the court would like to call them) some sort of alibi. However, that was in court, where it was much easier to talk because he only had to present a case. Social settings were very different. And as if to prove the other woman's point, gray eyes looked away from her and more towards his refilled water. He still heard what she had to say and it was quite funny. The woman had tried to get him drunk was now commending him. Or maybe she was just trying to be nice. Someone with blood on them trying to be nice, now wasn't that a funny image?[break][break]
At the mention of his co-workers, once again Julius turned his attention over to them. "I...can tell them..." he took out his phone and did exactly just that making sure to get someone who seemed sober. He sent a text stating he found a potential case and he would need some police to tail him undercover. For now, he will have to do his best to stall until it seemed like they got here. Well, he did still owe her a drink did he not? Hopefully, that will buy some time.[break][break]
Hmm? Gray eyes blinked for a moment feeling as if there was some kind of unique fragrance. Almost as if someone was putting on very strong perfume but rather than it smelling horrible, it was actually quite nice. Strange. One would think the smell of alcohol in the bar would be able to overpower such things. Well whatever, it wasn't anything to pay any mind to. No matter how nice it smelled. [break][break]
"Jul.." wait was he about to give out his real name? No. He shouldn't be doing that. "Julian...my name...it's Julian..." he stated hoping his usual speech would save him from any suspicion? "Yours?" he asked, his body somewhat leaning closer to her. "I...also...still owe you...a drink," he reminded her. Buying time, he needed to just try to buy some time.[break][break]
note: i believe in your terribad grammer partner~. also gonna have her ability slowly affect him as it goes on because i think that's how it works? if not, tell me and i can edit.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius caught the motion and gave a nod before entering. The place was better lit than one would think possible for those who would actually bother to visit this place. Or perhaps it was to ward off potential bats. The magi was not entirely sure. Steel gray eyes looked around the area cautious of any movement. After Halloween, one couldn't be too careful. Maybe the skeleton king was not actually gone and it was only an act. Although he had seemed pretty confident beforehand so he would have to be quite a phenomenal actor. Perhaps his remaining soldiers were still here or perhaps this place was just a place youmas could be found. Julius wouldn't be too surprised considering the latter.[break][break]
As they walked, the prosecutor asked the other how long he had known about magic. The other stated long enough to know of its unpredictable nature linking it to the weather. Julius would honestly disagree with the sentiment. The weather can be predicted to a certain degree. While it was not with perfect accuracy, there was at least some ability to predict. However, the same cannot be said about magic. As far as Julius knew, there was not enough information to understand when another attack like Halloween might strike. They would just have to be reactive for now then. Hopefully, this problem can be remedied in the future.[break][break]
From the corner of his eyes, he saw someone reaching out for something. The prosecutor's body tensed ready to jump until he noticed the arm had skin on it. So it wasn't a skeleton, only Cassian. His shoulders relaxed, gray eyes blankly stared at the other. He didn't ask if there was anything of note in the book because if there was, he was sure the magician would tell him. For now, he should probably do his own investigation but not stray too far. [break][break]
"Only recently...I didn't know...when we last talked," Julius answered as he walked closer to inspect the bones. They didn't have armor like the ones on the street. Maybe coming down here was for nothing. No, it would be best to still check. "Have you heard of Io?" the young prosecutor asked as he ventured further in while still making sure that Cassian was still in sight. Soft footsteps echoing in the tunnel.[break][break]
Somehow, he had a feeling this place was used as some dare or trial of courage.
Julius slightly flinched as the other male wrapped an arm around his shoulder as if they were best friends. His body guided towards a table, he listened to what the other had to say. He lived it? As he lived in a criminal family? No. That was probably not it, Julius was thinking too much. Just because he often dealt with convicts, that didn't mean that everyone who wasn't a police or a victim was a criminal. He could have grown up in a house with a martial artist or perhaps abuse. If it was the latter, hopefully, he had long left it. He seemed fine after all. Well, relatively speaking anyway. [break][break]
Once released, the prosecutor stared blankly at the blue haired male and his blond companion. He was honestly unsure where he was supposed to sit when he felt someone tug his arm. And so, Julius found himself sitting next to a brunette, who still kept a hold on his arm. Her grip wasn't tight enough to hurt, but he doubted that she would want him to leave either. Testing his ground, Julius leaned away as far as he can without moving his arm. Just enough to hopefully create a comfortable distance. He was never exactly very good with these kinds of things, especially in public when they were people who can see them. The last thing he wanted was for either of them to create the wrong impression.[break][break]
Violent running in the family. Most likely a family of martial artists then or some maybe some kind of violent sport. Gray eyes blinked before glancing back over at the many game carts. There were the shooting games the two had played earlier along with much more normal games like racing, basketball or fishing. Theoretically speaking, it did make sense. Games were made in a virtual world created by humans and like literature, it was created based on the creator's own experience and imagination. However, "it's not...very...accurate..." as there were games where racing was done on the street and including jumping bridges like some kind of action movies. The fact that the other said it so casually though...maybe his family were gun enthuiast? Julius knew at least one person who was quite fond of guns so that was a possibility. [break][break]
As if possibly reading his mind, the blue haired male stated that he wasn't a monster. Another true fact, he wasn't a criminal nor was he a corrupted...regardless of how Julius may feel about his hobbies. Gray eyes widen as the French gamer gave his companion a peck on the cheek before quickly glancing away at the scandalous act. Just how do people show that kind of affection so easily? Julius had a tough time doing such things with his own dates back before he had a career. It was just too embarrassing and the public would always feel so invasive to him. He suddenly felt someone lean on his shoulder and that was when he realized his own companion had moved so close that her thigh was touching his own. [break][break]
When Savage had introduced himself, it was a relief because it gave Julius something to distract himself with. "Jul...Julius..." introducing himself should not have been hard. It was one of the most basic things to master in social interactions but yet...it was hard when he was trying so hard not to look at his own female companion. "And...no..not...really...I...never really...played games...except..mystery games..." usually solving crimes or riddles. "So...how...do you shoot...so well?" he asked as he debated to nudge his female companion or not. Was she just tired or was she trying to display her interest for him?[break][break]
note: no worries, it's still good. also tell me if you ever need more to work with, okay?
There was no work today and Julius was only outside because of his book club's meeting. The discussion had been rather interesting with the debate between fiction and non-fiction. In truth, the male never understood the debate as he saw merit to both. Did he have a preference? Yes, in truth he was more interested in non-fiction...unless it was the mystery genre. Nonetheless, that did not mean that one was objectively better than the other. [break][break]
As the prosecutor walked down with a book in hand, he soon saw the road being closed off. There was a building on fire and people were being redirected away from it. He can see the building from where he stood and for a moment he was ready to walk away. It didn't seem to be too dangerous and he had assumed that the fire station would be able to handle it. Then again, maybe he should stay just in case? That moment of hesitance allowed Julius to hear someone scream about how her younger brother was still in there. Her scream was followed by an explosion that only fed the flames. This was naturally (and perhaps ironically) followed by a choir of screams.[break][break]
The male found himself running past the firefighters, his experience in fighting youmas allowing him to dodge albeit not without stumbling a few steps. Julius grabbed a bucket of water along the way dumping it on him before entering the building. The kid...where could they be? "Someone! Is anyone in here!?" he shouted raising his voice as he started to run through the hallway of the aparmtent complex. This was what was going to make it hard. There were so many rooms.
