Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius was used to being complimented at times, usually a small nod or a 'good job'. If it was from Alex, his brother may pat him on the head or ruffle his hair. Being punched, however (even if it was lightly) was strange. The sudden impact having been unexpected, the prosecutor had stumbled a few steps bumping into the next person in line. The man had shot him a look and Julus merely glanced down and away. How was he to apologize for this? The male bit his lips, gray eyes looking for the words as Ayaka continued on with what sounded like a compliment. Her words and actions truly were not matching up. Was this what one meant when they said someone was 'two-faced'?[break][break]
Putting that aside for now, Julius soon found the words, he should apologize for his misstep. However, when he looked up, the man already had his back turned towards him. He supposed...there was no point to bring it up.[break][break]
At his deflection, Ayaka had clapped her hand onto his shoulder. Gray eyes turned over to the girl who used the word 'one-san' (whatever that meant) and then talking about stealing or in-laws or...honestly, his brain was unable to catch up with what she was trying to tell him. "One...should not...talk about...kidnapping...so lightly." Even more so, one does not steal someone as much as kidnap them. And that was truly a crime for good reasons. However, it was rather obvious (unless he was misreading this) that the girl was trying to find out why he was avoiding this. Should he tell the truth? Well...of course. Julius was not one to lie. Only criminals have to lie, but he could also merely keep the thought to himself. No...if he did, she may try to pursue it or misunderstand. It would be better to simply be forward in this situation...right? "I...don't...trust you," he informed her just as the man he had bumped into started ordering his ice cream.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] At the mention of Alex - although not by name - Julius saw the way, Ayaka's brow scrunched up. It was different from the mention of his parents and for a moment his hand was ready to steady her should she need it. However, the girl did not seem to have any trouble balancing herself. She had simply drunk too much. "You should," he agreed with her. There were reasons why he stayed away from alcohol, anything that deterred his inhibition was worrisome. It made it harder it harder to think and follow the law, as he should.[break][break]
There were many people Julius could never understand. Criminals were probably on top of his list with defense attorneys being a close second. Ayaka, however, was running for third place suddenly deciding to put on a hat and fake beard. Or at least, that was what one would assume, only for her to declare both of them to both be Santa (he was sure it did not work that way) and scouring for presents. He elected to merely say nothing. He was not sure if there was anything to say.[break][break]
Julius listened to what Ayaka's mom wanted before the girl asked if he knew how to knit. The prosecutor shook his head, knitting was not one of the things he had ever truly learned. But she likes things that are knit? "Etsy?" he suggested. That was the online store for handmade items, they can be a bit expensive depending on the vendor but they were all handmade. That was part of their appeal, and that could be something Ayaka could look into. Then, when she asked about what Alex would like, there was a frown on the male's face.[break][break]
While the male magus had mentioned his brother a few times, he was not sure how he felt about her sudden interest. Was she trying to fish information about Alex? "It's...of...not..importantce..." he merely replied back and was staring at the line. He wondered if there was some kind of magic that would make it shorter just so he can change the topic. Obviously, there wasn't because the line was not moving faster, in fact, he might even say it felt like it was moving slower. "Focus..on...yourself," he decided to add, giving her that advice in an attempt to get her away from asking about Alex. While he was fond of his brother (who wouldn't be?), he was still not completely sure about Ayaka's position as a magus (he never fully completed his investigation) and therefore there was potential danger.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Oh was that it? Still a strange thing to think about. "I...people say..I...take after...my mother...in build." She was a tall slender woman although Julius was sure that slender didn't exactly fit him..."but my eyes...are like..my father's." There was a small pause, "I also...look similar...to my brother...kind of." Hmmm...this was harder to explain then he had initially thought. Julius would Ayaka pictures of his brother but he was still unsure of how far he can trust the girl with such information. If she decided to meet up with him for questioning, however, then he can always show her pictures of his parents. That would be safe, she couldn't hurt them.[break][break]
The male then offered ice cream and a watch shop to Ayaka if she needed his help. Although the girl seemed to be lost in thought rubbing her chin, most likely debating with herself. That wasn't exactly strange and he didn't blame her. Having a little bit of suspicion wasn't exactly bad. Not everyone in the world was good after all and Julius doubted he had the image of an outstanding samaritan as much as someone who was porbably raised in the basement. Not that he was, of course, he was raised well.[break][break]
"Argument?" the prosecutor echoed. They were...having an argument? A debate? Julius hardly would consider it as a debate unless. Ah...the male was about to suggest to Ayaka that she didn't have to take him up on his offer if she didn't want to. He could very well simply tell her the name of the shop and give her some money for ice cream. After that, she can easily be on her way without having to debate on whether or not she was willing to put up with the male magus in order to find a good watch for her father.[break][break]
It was unfortunate the topic had changed and so Julius listed the people he was buying presents for. Her comment caused Julius to arch a brow. Five people were hardly the number Santa Claus had on his list if he even existed in the first place. "I'm not...Santa Claus," he informed her. Santa Claus would know what to buy for people and not be as lost as Julius was. Speaking of lost..the male stated in his word before stopping. Ayaka had waved her hand in front of him, most likely impatient. He didn't blame her, the prosecutor merely shook his head dismissing the train of thought before asking if they should go now.[break][break]
Computer parts? Gray eyes squinted at the girl, "Ice cream...then watch...and...that's it." Anymore and well, again Julus wasn't going to force Ayaka. He will merely do his best to assist her without making things too awkward and then be on his way. And so with that, the male started to head over to the ice cream store. There was one that allowed you to place custom ice cream...was that the one Ayaka went to? He wasn't sure but he heard from his co-workers that it was usually pretty good.[break][break]
Which was it, it came to no surprise that there was a long line for it. "Do you...need help...with..the scarf? I...might know someone...who might know...about scarves." Maybe. Noel always seemed to be well-dressed so she should know right? Then again, Noel was rich...maybe Noire?
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius gave a nod...didn't everyone? Biologically speaking anyway, everyone had a family. What his family looked like? Gray eyes squinted unsure as to why Ayaka would be curious about such a thing. His family was his family, they should not be of any relevance to her. Letting go of that statement for now, the prosecutor had asked the green haired girl if she knew anything about computers. What he received was uncertainty in both her words and actions. Not wanting for her to feel pressured, he decided it would be best to simply drop the topic with two simple words 'never mind'. The girl placed the box back but her shoulders seemed to be slumped. Was she tired?[break][break]
Parents. The topic that had always been strange to Julius. They didn't sting him as they once had when he was a child but he would be lying if he said it didn't felt strange to hear someone talk about their parents. It was a concept that was rather hard for him to grasp. Even if he had figures who had raised him, they were hardly his parents. The male gave a nod, "I...might know...of a place..for watches." He knew a few people at work who wore brand watches, that might be a good place to start for Ayaka. As for scarfs...well Julius was not exactly very savvy with fashion. "I...can also...buy you...some ice cream...for you...to finish," he suggested before thinking about how to answer her question.[break][break]
"I...it's...not..." the male bit his lip unsure of how to phrase this. It was a lot of people for Julus but he doubted five was a lot for many others. "It's..my brother...mentor...two...of my interns...and a...fellow...tenant of...mine." Even listing them felt like a lot but he had seen people with much longer lists than his own. "If..." he began before shaking his head. No, he had caused quite a bit of trouble for Ayaka right from their initial meeting. He will just help her find a watch, buy her ice cream and then be done with it. She looked young so surely she must still be living with her parents, eighteen year old (she could not have been older than that) living with their parents were common, and he wouldn't want to worry her parents. "Shall..we go?" Julius will just have to figure out what comptuer parts to buy later.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius wondered if this jacket was cursed. Back in October, it had coffee spilled over it and now ice cream. If magic existed, curses may also very well exist. Although, the idea of a youma cursing his jacket sounded a bit too petty for creatures who didn't seem to be able to have that much capacity for thought. This time, however, it had not been a barista but rather a familiar firefighter: Ayaka. Seeing as the girl was able to stand up, the prosecutor can see that she did not require any help at all. The male remained quiet as Ayaka lectured him about how he should have apologized for standing there (which was his fault, he should have known better) and how he needed to focus on his social skills. Skills...right. Skills were things one can gain over time but Julius has been living in society for his entire life and yet he lacked in such area. In all honesty, he was sure that there was simply something wrong with him rather than any lack of effort. People...were just hard to communicate with and it always seemed that he was simply incapable of doing anything right.[break][break]
He probably should apologize though...but the conversation seemed to have passed as Ayaka had asked Julius if the graphics card had been for someone else. If he was to apologize now, it would bring back a negative topic and people often wanted to avoid those. It made sense really, Julius would also like to avoid anything that brought up negative emotions. He had enough of that with his own job at the time with how much he had to talk to defense attorneys who would often ask for him to reconsider the time he suggested to the judge. It..would probably be best to simply let it lie.[break][break]
So instead, the prosecutor gave a small nod, "yes. It's...a...present," he stated before waving a hand to gesture to the various holiday decorations around the store. This was the easiest thing on his list to buy and even then...gray eyes glanced back at the shelf. Maybe he should come back with Oscar sometime. No, he had bothered Oscar enough and the man was probably busy with his job. "Do...you...know...about...computers?" Maybe Ayaka was tech savvy? Hopefully...well she couldn't be worse than Julius who truly only knew the basics. Then again..."never mind." She was probably here to do her own shopping, he shouldn't bother her. "Are you...shopping...as well?"
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] The holidays were coming up and Julius had somewhat been dreading it. It was not that he was a Grinch, at least he hoped he wasn't, but the holidays certainly brought certain...treipidations. Normally, it wouldn't be too much to think about. Julius would only have to buy something for Alex and then go out and eat with his friends. This year, however, was different. He didn't have the excuse of not being able to participate in present giving due to financial situations. No, Julius had a rather good job and barely spent money outside of food. So naturally, that meant that he had to buy presents. And no, he wasn't exactly Scrooge either. He didn't mind spending money if it meant that he can show someone who important they were to him.[break][break]
Gray eyes stared at the aisles of stores located within the mall. The prosecutor bit his lips unsure of which to go into first. Yes...choosing presents had always been the hardest part. Even with just Alex, it had been hard because he was unsure of what his brother would want. It was easy to understand he liked computer parts but what was a good brand and what part he did need? Honestly, Julius was lucky that Alex was a kind soul who would love just about anything. However, not everyone was like that and now have a job, Julius's list of people has grown.[break][break]
The magus would almost prefer fighting a youma to this right now. At least he didn't feel the need to please the dogs in the cemetery. He suddenly felt someone walking into him causing the prosecutor to stumble before turning around. He really shouldn't have just stood around in a mall during holiday shopping when it got busy. Gray eyes looked at the person who had fallen trying to see if they had dropped any items that he should help with or if they needed any assistance in getting back up.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius gave a nod as the magician gestured to the carved path and smiled. It felt so strange, the prosecutor can still remember the blank look the magician had during Halloween but he could also smile. However, now was probably not the time to dwell on it. With a set distance between them, the prosecutor moved ahead. This catacomb felt like a maze actually, it reminded him of the dungeons in games he had watched Alex play as a child. Julius had never exactly participated in the games himself and as he grew older, it was something he watched from his peripheral while also trying to read his book or do his homework. He remembered how Alex would often always lean on the right in order to not get lost. A pale hand was placed along the wall, not so much as to mark their road back, but still to keep track of their direction all the same. [break][break]
As the two walked in the narrow cavern, the magus spoke up, "Io..is my...evoker. He's..the one that...gave me...this power. How...did you...get yours?" It was a fair question to ask. Even if Julius saw that the magician did not seem to have any ill intent, the source of his power was still something he should try to find out. And naturally, if the blue haired male had any questions, Julius was more than willing to answer them. Well...to a certain extent, anyway.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius caught the way the smile was momentarily dropped and he was unsure if that was because what Karin found amusing was gone or if she was disappointed in his lack of reaction. Should he have tried to laugh at whatever it was that was amusing? Fake it? Hmm...in all honesty, the prosecutor had never been the best liars. It was soon back when the librarian told the prosecutor that she can very well help him as it was her job. He then asked about the book club as she wrote down the title of the book and author.[break][break]
Gray eyes glanced outside at Karin's prompting. Yes, not everyone could be expected to attend even if Julius's inconsistent attendance had happened shortly before that. Then again, it could very well be argued that it was not noticeable. The members knew about his job and how busy it could be. Crime never exactly took a break and so neither could justice. [break][break]
Despite the fact that Karin had stated the magus was not missing much, the idea that he was missing a discussion about a mystery novel certainly sounded like he was missing quite a lot. After all, mystery was his favorite genre of them all. The two-toned haired male followed about Karin, "what...is..the name..of the book?" He honestly wished he could attend but he had to try to solve the mystery of this novel. Although it wasn't as fun when he couldn't discuss his ideas and of course, the temptation to simply read ahead because he had to find out. Mystery novels were the most fun but also difficult genre to discuss if one was to ask Julius. "If...it's...alright." Just in case. Maybe Karin wouldn't want to tell him because he hadn't been attending the book club. He wasn't really sure.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]It was fortunate that many people in New Paris lived in their own world, hardly ever paying attention to others around them, or else they would have heard Ayaka's words. Julius wondered if he should tell her to not just throw out the word 'magi' so easily like that. What if someone hears? What if a corrupted hears and decides to attack her? Did she not know about the danger that she was in? [break][break]
The sudden proposition had made the male magus tilt his head. All day, every day? Answer each and every one of his question? Why? It wasn't as if he had anything else to ask her about. Then again, she had only answered him after his lasso was gone...so there wasn't any actual guarantee. Yet, if she was confident enough, was this a sign that she was truly innocent? No, there was a fallacy in that, there had been murderers who had reported their own victims in order to try to throw the investigation team off track. Yet, would such a thing take all day? Hardly. Every day? Julius was not even sure if he had that amount of time. Yet, as the girl looked at him in the eyes, there was something about it. It was a look that he had seen in people before: determination. There was fire in her eyes as if she was taking on a challenge...or a fight. Rather strange seeing as Julius was sure he was helping her right now...unless he had unknowingly done something wrong again. If so, he honestly felt sorry for the girl.[break][break]
"All day...every day...is...a lot. I...will...probably...only need...one day...to make sure....you're...alright." It would probably take no more than an hour and likewise, Julius would give her information of what he knew. Of course, that was once he had found out that she was truly not a corrupted or held malicious intent. "Also..I am...not...a woman." Nor was he Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman was an amazon with an athletic build, something Julius clearly did not have if one was to remember his failure in jumping over a gap.[break][break]
Once they were at their destination, Julius held her up by one arm so that he can hand her his business card. From the corner of his eyes, he can see a few firemen coming over most likely to check if she was okay or to ask questions. The prosecutor arched a brow at her question. Friends were simple enough to understand but flags? What flags was she talking about? [break][break]
"I...don't...have flags. There...should...be...a store...with them." Maybe Ayaka was some kind of flag collector? That could very well be it. "When...you...want to talk...call...we'll...arrange...a time," he informed her just as Ayaka's co-workers arrived. There was also the family of the boy that they had saved walking over to thank her. Julius took this as his chance to walk away.[break][break]
Ayaka Atland...and her fiery eyes. There was something ironic about that. Julius shook his head as he headed back to his apartment.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Gray eyes watched Cassian take advantage of the creature's position and thus killing it with a cascade of his cards. The creature (creatures?) was slain and there was a sense of thrilling satisfaction in taking the beast down. Not only did it mean that their cooperation can take down dangerous foes but it also meant that this place was safer for others now. The prosecutor dispelled his shields as he landed on the ground rather satisfied. Both...two...that was still a strange idea for him. It made the male wonder how long he has been capable of that without knowing and what else he could do. Perhaps he should try to experiment a little bit more throughout this exploration. If the magician was here, Julius was certain that things would turn out alright.[break][break]
Speaking of his companion, the prosecutor saw the one his companion looked at him and gave the other a nod. He was alright. Injured, but alright. The magician also seemed to be fine enough himself but just in case he gestured deep into the catacomb but did not take a step further. If the man was too tired they can very well go back but if not, then they should continue. If the creatures were here that led to two possibilities. The first is that they were protecting something. In all honesty, this was the best possible and it almost made Julius tempted to continue regardless of whether or not his companion would follow him. The other possibility is that there would be more of these creatures. If there was, then other people could get hurt should they enter the catacomb and as a prosecutor, it was Julius's duty to see that dangerous entities were rid of. The latter possibility could also be connected to the first as well.[break][break]
Either way, for now, the prosecutor stood and waited to see the magician's decision.
note: your choice if you wanna continue or not hood~.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Karin suggested a book that was the third in the series Julius did not even know there was a series of self-help book as if they were a series chronicling someone's life. The idea felt so strange. It made him wonder if he should read the first in the series if someone believed that there should be a series of books to help someone on the same subject. The other option he had that was related to teaching was for pre-schoolers. In other words, he wasn't exactly the target audience and for some reason, the librarian found that to be amusing. The prosecutor raised a brow unsure of how she found that amusing enough to chuckle at it. Another social nuance that he was clearly missing, which while not entirely new, was still slightly frustrating. However, he saw no reason to voice his question, "can you...show me...where the book is?"[break][break]
Julius gave a nod, he has not been attending too many book club meetings lately. In fact, last month he had only attended one of them. He knew that members of the book clubs were only at worst disappointed in him if they noticed at all. Still, that didn't exactly appease his guilt at all. "How..has it...been?" he asked rather curious about just what book they were reading or what kind of discussions they were having.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Ah..tease...playful banter usually shared among friends or that one has an affinity towards. Were they that close? Julius honestly did not feel as if they were close enough to initiate such banters. Then again, Julius was not the type to banter with others in general. Then at Ayaka's comment about how she felt about the prosecutor using his power on her, he had asked her how she would have liked to be approached. The answer she gave him was...unsatisfactory in his eyes.[break][break]
Those people lied to you...
[break]
"I..won't know...if...you're...telling..the truth...or not," Julius countered. It didn't matter if they had gotten to the level of friendship, there was nothing stopping Ayaka from outright lying to Julius. There wasn't someone the prosecutor could inherently trust in this world outside of his family. No matter how much he wanted to trust there, there was always a chance that they could lie. The lie itself could be malicious or perhaps to protect him from some painful truth but a lie was a lie all the same. When Julius had first realized the power he had, it was a blessing. It allowed him to be certain that the person in front of him would not lie because they could not lie. Only by taking away any chance could Julius truly believe their words.[break][break]
The male magi answered honestly to Ayaka's question. He didn't like the sensation, it was a unique and powerful magic in its own right. Clearly, it was also extremely useful but...Julius couldn't stand the powerlessness. Of knowing that there was nothing he could have done and to play everything in Ayaka's hand. Perhaps if it had just been him, he would have been fine but there was also the life of that child. The decision had not only affected him but those around him as well. He felt a pat on his back and if Julius had not been holding onto Ayaka, he might have stumbled. "Next time?" Julius echoed, eyebrows furrowed. Would there be a next time? Julius was not a firefighter and this had been nothing more than mere coincidence. Then again..if she was a magi. Before Julius could ask, Ayaka had ruffled his hair. It was not the first time such a thing had happened. Alex had ruffled his hair when he was younger but Alex was family. Ayaka was only an acquaintance at best, one that he had only met today. Was this normal?[break][break]
Nonetheless, Julius gave a nod and soon they neared the house where the first was thankfully put out. Gently, he removed Ayaka's arm from his shoulder but still held her up just in case she needed the support. With his free hand, the male took out a business card and held it in front of her..."if...you...ever...need....my help."
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Julius gave a nod understanding why people had no need to go to such areas. Most, if not then all, the patrons who came to the library were most likely functional. In other words, they have no reason to actually get such books. The prosecutor, on the other hand, was barely functional. He was good at his work or at least proficient enough to have earned his position but social norms were hard for him to understanding. Interacting with other people besides the obligated questions and answers ha always been difficult. Perhaps it was a miracle that he had lived this far without ever going through guidebooks for conversations.[break][break]
"Somewhat. I...have..some interns..I...I wish to...pass...what experience...I have..to them...well enough," he explained hoping that it would narrow down the search. "But also...have you...been...to...the...book club...lately?" he asked, his finding the counter much more interesting at the moment. He has not been going to the book club lately due to how busy he was and well...he would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little bit guilty about that.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
[attr="class","nologicpost1"]Pale hands were knocked away by Noel and gray eyes merely blinked. Ah..."sorry..." he apologized. He should have asked if it was alright to touch her before checking her temperature. A reason why he needed to truly think through his words and actions. That was probably normal for most people, something they would most likely not have to think about.[break][break]
There was a huff from Noel before she starting talking about gems? Julius squinted his eyes at her trying to figure out why she was talking about gems. When the girl took a step forward, he had stood still allowing their bodies to be pressed against each other. He had touched her without asking earlier, the last he could do was offer her the same. Her eyes seemed to be flickering between two points on his face as she spoke about how gems are misunderstood. And then a gentle kiss on the lips. There was no force on it if anything it almost felt like a light brush. A kiss that was so brief that one could debate if it had even occurred of it was merely a figment of Julius's imagination. However, he doubted for that to be the case if only because he did not see Noel in such a way. Noel pulled back and asked him to never shatter before stating how she would love to meet him again.[break][break]
The door opened by two people and Noel took that as her exit. Julius merely stared blankly before giving the two newcomers a nod and leaving as well. The party was dying down and Julius supposed it was time for him to leave as well. Pale hands reached up to his lips. This was certainly not his first kiss but it certainly was a strange one.[break][break]
Why would Noel do such a thing? Was it a playful kiss or did it mean something more? The prosecutor shook his head, he was most likely reading too much into it. The kiss was most likely a sign of something else. With that thought in mind, Julius stepped out into the cold and headed to the subway in order to go back to his apartment.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Winter was here and the storm that had come a month earlier was still staying. Julius had all but ran into the cafe that was far away from his usual workplace. So why was he here then? A friend of his had wanted to meet up with him here to ask him a few questions. Julius was unsure what they were about but he had agreed nonetheless. He had the day off and it might be nice to catch up with an old friend.[break][break]
There was a bell signalling his arrival as the male stepped inside and closed the door behind him. His body still shivering from the residual cold from the outside. He can really use some tea right now. Gloved hands fished out his phone to see that he was half an hour early for the meeting. It was better to be early than it was to be late. Besides, he had brought a book to read in order to pass the time.[break][break]
Julius moved up the line only to see two familiar figure. One (Signus) was rather expected seeing as he worked here. Julius was also expecting the boy to narrow his eyes at him. The other, was more surprising as he was sure the girl was a librarian and not a barista..not that one could not have ore than one occupation. He simply did not know that she worked here. "Karin," he greeted the girl with a small nod before also giving one to Signus, "one matcha tea please."
