Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
Julius was not sure how to tell her, he really had no plans on using dancing lessons for anything. He didn't have anyone he wanted to do any kind of dancing with. No, it was better to just not say it. He enjoyed the lesson in and of itself or rather he enjoyed spending time with her. "Thank you," he mumbled out.[break][break]
Err..."the second one..but...without famous people." He stated before giving a small nod. He supposed in the eyes of Madame Masseur, it must have been useless. There was nothing for her to gain. She wasn't a celebrity that needed her face to be shown everywhere and there wasn't really any connections to be made. However..."People..." people her age? No, that didn't sound good. "There are a lot of people who find it fun...even if it's useless." It felt weird to defend something Julius truly had no interest in. He simply never cared for such activities or rather the crowd. Still, that didn't mean that he didn't have hobbies. The male went to book clubs when he can if only to just talk and sometimes argue about certain books. There was a fun in that. "It lets you meet people who...don't know of your background..." maybe her name was famous in the upper echelon of society. However, there were many elites that the normal civilians do not know. For example, Julius did not know that this girl in front of him was, in fact, the owner of a company. "It might be good for you."[break][break]
There was a short pause as the song slowly came to an end and he allowed his eyes to meet hers as they stopped. "Thank you...for teaching me...I enjoyed it..." he managed out even if his face was still blank and dull as it usually was. He truly did enjoy his time with her though. But at the same time, he was not sure how much longer he can keep her without causing her trouble. That would be the last thing he wanted to do to her.
Well...it seems Julius has been able to protect Emile and she was now standing up so far so that meant that was good. It was just unfortunate that he was not as battle-ready as he would like to be and had gotten injured in the process. Even if he managed to strike the skeleton down, continuing to protect her was going to be harder now. Instinctively the prosecutor held onto his right shoulder. It was going to make moving his arm hard and it just had to be his dominant hand too. His body was sturdier than it used to be and able to do feats it couldn't before. Hell, he would even say he was able to recover faster than before but that didn't mean the healing was instantaneous. It would take days to probably recover from this and he didn't exactly have the luxury right now.[break][break]
Fortunately, though, Emile was a medical student...who had just ripped a portion of her skirt for him. The male honestly felt rather guilty for that as the skirt was now slightly ruined. Twice he has bothered her and she has had to help him. Almost like a child, Julius held his arm out not bothering to argue with her because it was already done. Plus, the longer they stand here, the more likely in danger they will be. [break][break]
Grey eyes blinked for a moment before dully looking at the girl in front of him, "for what?' In truth, he wasn't sure what there was for her to be sorry about. It wasn't like Emile had done anything to cause this. As far as he knew, she wasn't the one that summoned the skeletons nor was she the one that pushed him in front of them. It had all been Julius's choice and inexperience that had gotten him. Not that he would have made a different choice should he be given another chance...at least not one that would risk another person.[break][break]
Speaking of which, the magi asked if his companion was okay. Unlike him, her body wasn't exactly magically enhanced. There was also the state of her mind. Julius slowly looked at the makeshift bandage Emile had fashioned out of her skirt.[break][break]
'I'm useless' this same woman had declared earlier.[break][break]
"You're....really not useless..." Was it late? Would it make sense? But he wanted Emile to understand that. Then again, Yvette had already told her that and Yvette was her friend. Maybe, he had merely wasted time for the two in saying that. But Emile truly was not useless. She was much more medically knowledgeable than he was or ever will be. And while Julius can attack the skeletons, he couldn't really do anything if another person was injured. Emile, on the other hand, could. So in conclusion, the girl really was not useless at all. [break][break]
The sudden screamed caused Julius to jump before looking around expecting the holder of the name to be around. She wasn't. So then...oh. "Wait-" he tried to call the girl reaching out only for her to point a sword at Julius? No..behind him. Shit. Gray eyes narrowed before he grabbed onto the fallen bat and readied himself. However what was behind them were thankfully not skeletons. It was a man with blue hair and red eyes along with...wait was that the magician at the carnival? What was he- was there a carnival today? Were those people alright? Shit...shit shit.[break][break]
At the mention of someone being the magician's lover, Julius turned to blankly look at Emile. He had only met the magician once and had mainly remembered him due to his rather strange appearance. So clearly it couldn't be him. Emile was also the one that knew more about Yvette who this man with a lance also seems to know. It was just unfortunate that the question also brought worry back into the purple haired girl who asked if Julius would be alright staying with the two newcomers.[break][break]
"I know," Julius grumbled out, gray eyes cast down. He...knew he was injured but it wasn't like the skeletons were going to wait. There were still people in danger out there. Have the police even come yet? [break][break]
"Wait..." he had seen Yvette used magic. She was better equipped then Emile and even with a weapon, he didn't feel that the medical student would be safe. However, it wasn't like he could really offer to come with her. If anything, he might even be a burden. Gray eyes looked over at the two, "maybe-" before he continues with the suggestion that one of the two newcomers, go with her, Yvette found them. He merely watched the scene play out as the girl checked on her friend before thanking Julius. He merely gave a small nod. Well, at least Emile won't have a reason to run off now. The prosecutor caught the raven haired girl glancing at him and he tilted his head unsure of what she wanted. Her friend was safe and..."this man was looking for you as well..." he used the bat to gesture to the man with the lance.[break][break]
Then slowly he turned his attention back over to the magician...whose name he had either forgotten or never really knew. That was when he saw four skeletons coming up from behind the magician. "Skeletons!" he shouted alerting everyone. Moving around the magician, he managed to strike down one of them with the bat using both of his hands. Unfortunately though, it did leave the prosecutor opened to the other three.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] A life where one had to be perfect. Julius himself strove for but that had been his own decision. He couldn't say he was ever actively pressured into it, or at the very least he never noticed it. Madame Masseur did not continue on letting the silence fall on them, not that Julius minded. He wasn't exactly much of a conversationalist and the longer the last, the more likely he was going to stumble and make a fool of himself. [break][break]
It was getting a bit easier even if they were still mainly stepping around and at times moving their arms. Or rather, the girl was moving her arms and he followed along. And soon it was her turn to ask him a question. Was it uncommon? "Most people I know...don't know how to dance..." of course it wasn't like Julius was popular and therefore he didn't know that many people. So far all he knew, maybe it was just the group of people he knew. Then again..."Actually...they don't' know how to dance like this." They knew a different style of dancing, one that was looser. Julis, on the other hand, simply don't know how to dance. "So..I supposed I'm something of a rare case."[break][break]
Again, there were reasons why Julius found much more comfort in books than crowds. "Have you gone clubbing before?" he asked curious if she knew about the more common style of dancing. In all honesty, he couldn't really imagine it for the girl.
Guilty, Julius had been able to obtain a guilty verdict in the court case. Despite the blank face that he held, dull grey eyes and his mouth is a small thin line, there was a sense of relief at the verdict. he was able to put this criminal in jail. Justice has been served and the efforts of both the police force and the prosecution office had not gone to waste. The prosecutor turned around ready to leave when he was momentarily stopped by the victim's family. They thanked him to which he had merely given them a nod before walking out. [break][break]
The moment he was outside, Julius had taken out his phone to call to both Göbel and Fosse of the results. He then invited both of them to eat at a restaurant in order to celebrate. After getting separate confirmation from the two agreeing to do so the next night, Julius continued his day as normal. Even if he had managed to get one criminal behind bars, there were still other convicts out there and papers to do.[break][break]
Parties had never been a good scene for the black haired male, which was why he had only invited Fosse and Göbel, both who have personally contributed to his case. Göbel had been the one to help him convince the police to allow him to watch the interrogation in another room in order to understand the mindset of the criminal. Fosse had been the one that helped Julius prepared for the case with the two going back and forth on possible scenarios and debates. The least he could do was treat the two on their celebration...not that he told them that part.[break][break]
"Fosse, Göbel," he greeted the two outside the restaurant before the three entered together. Julius had called the previous day so their table had been guaranteed, not that the restaurant had been high class or anything. Although it was certainly more expensive than what the prosecutor would usually eat. A bit on the upper-middle class side. Once the three had sat, Julius figured he might as well tell them now. "Order whatever you want...my treat..." he informed the two before opening the menu himself.[break][break]
Hmm...this might actually hurt his wallet more than he thought.
There was a moment of silence and Julius could not help but wonder if he had overstepped somewhere. However, the prosecutor did not retract himself if only because that usually made the situation even more awkward. He would had been fine if the magician had merely kept quiet and left it at that. Then there was a raise of the head and the raven haired male was not sure if the man was gauging him or was merely debating. Should Julius verbally give him an out? Not that, the magician was ever truly forced to do anything.[break][break]
Then the first two words came along with movement. Golden eyes looking over the cards, hands gently stroking the surface of the cards only to slowly flip them. The act itself not only having the grace of someone who had good coordination but also caution, as if he was making sure to not damage them. A master taking care of the tools of his trade.[break][break]
In all honesty, it was quite an unexpected answer. Julius had expected something like belief, or motivation or something one would answer to a child. Almost like when he had asked an adult why they lied about Santa Claus once he had naturally came to the realization of the myth. Yet, he stated magic was power. Power as in the sociological sense? The ability to force your will upon a situation regardless of obstacles? Or the power you have over others because of how much they depend on you? More importantly though, it was only with tricks for magic wasn't actually real. The only true power the man had in front of him was capturing someone's attention. To make him be noticed and therefore looked upon.[break][break]
But suddenly in the magician's explanation, a card flew up from the table and into the magician's hands. A string? It had to be. A thin string that was also strong. It was the only explanation that there was. Julius was sure if he was to google this up, he would find the trick. Although, he must say, it was quite impressive to see a man who could do a trick so well like that. The ability to misdirect with his words might be able to give politicians a run for their money.[break][break]
"I wish you success then," the prosecutor stated although the words were more out of courtesy than anything else. Magic being power...as if. And if magic was power, wouldn't someone wanting to become a king make him dangerous? Well whatever, he was most likely playing out the character.[break][break]
"Julius. I was looking for you!" suddenly came a familiar voice from behind Julius.[break][break]
"Michael," he greeted with the same monotone voice he had used with the magician earlier.[break][break]
"Oh hey there, were you watching this guy?"[break][break]
Julius glanced back at the magician character. Honestly, he had used him to pass by the time and as a meeting point. The man himself was not exactly an active talker either but that also made his words all that more valuable. Of course, that also meant that people like Michael would probably be bored because it wasn't someone over-the-top in their presentation. "We just finished,"[break][break]
"Oh cool. Hey, come over here. There's a guy that throw knives that's really cool!"[break][break]
And just like that Julius was dragged away by his friend. Not that the prosecutor actively fought back, or even looked back at the magician. Days later, his strange words would had been somewhat forgotten. In the back of the male's mind but never something he would think about. Not even when there was a insane person (to which he found out later was just a strange creature) offered to grant him his wish in return for being given magical powers to collect grief seeds from evil chaotic creatures. It was not until a days after when Julius sat down and saw the man that killed his parents was sentenced away in prison did the words truly came back to him.[break][break]
Magic is power.[break]
To affect the world around you.[break]
Sweet or sour.
[break]
note: yeah. i think i wrote my wrap up with julius. your choice if you wanna write like a mini-epilogue part for cassian or not.
[attr="class","nologicpost1"] Julius noticed the way Madame Masseur's back straightened and how she had rearranged his jacket. He gave a nod understanding that yes, he would struggle a lot and naturally he would trust the girl. She had not done anything to harm him, and had even helped him during their very first meeting. Really, in his eyes there was no reason not to trust her.[break][break]
They changed positions so that their bodies now faced each other. Her hands guiding one of his hand to take her waist; a position he somewhat recognized from movies. At her words, the man took a step closer so that they were close. In fact, he can feel her warmth with how close they were. It was strangely intimate honestly, and unlike the male lead in the movies, he didn't look at her eyes. Instead, he found himself looking down only moving when she was moving out of fear that he might step on her foot otherwise. How horribly ironic would it be if he ended up hurting her when he was trying to comfort the girl. [break][break]
Move like water...and he did his best to move more. Or rather he allowed her to steer and guide him without fighting back to stand still. If she took a step forward, he would take a step back and give way to her, if she took a step back he would follow right after her. It was honestly strange, but he didn't mind it. It was nice in a sense even if he was strictly looking down at her feet. It allowed him to tell where she would step.[break][break]
"Who taught you how to dance?" he asked trying his best to have some kind of a conversation. People normally have these during slow dances like this right?[break][break]
Julius truly could not help but respect politicians at times. They always seemed to know the right words to say, not only in their speeches but even when they were suddenly put on the spot. It was an enviable skill and one that the prosecutor truly wished he had as he struggled through his words. Struggled, not just stumbling around lost but struggling to get his thoughts across. It was difficult, and in truth, he wasn't even sure if he was even doing it right. [break][break]
Soon he noticed that she was rubbing her arms. Ah...yes..she must be cold by now. The girl once again asked, her eyes looking at him before looking at the moon, if he truly did not understand what it was like to have such high class and status. "I don't," he stated because it was as simple as that. He didn't. He didn't live that life. And while he had his own frustration, it wasn't the same as hers. He wasn't even sure if it was better or worse. It was just different...but what he did understand was that there were expectations. The girl was clearly young and to have to take over a company. He has heard of how cruel the corporate world could be. [break][break]
Amber eyes met with steel ones as Madame Masseur stated that she was glad he was taking time to comfort her rather than use her. It wasn't like he could really use her for anything. They travelled in different circles and even if he could, Julius doubted he had the skills to actually manipulate anyone. If anything, he would just directly ask someone if they can help him with whatever it was that he needed help with. Blunt perhaps, but honesty was much easier than manipulation if one was to ask the prosecutor. [break][break]
"I have to be," came Julius's reply to her observation of him. In court, Julius had to notice when a witnessed seemed to be hesitating or whenever there were contradictions. "Thank you, though." Then came the offer to dance...gray eyes blinked. "I don't know how to dance," he confessed rather blankly which was most likely expected for someone like him. Julius did not scream wealth or social grace. However...it must be cold outside. "We should...go back in..." the male stated as he took off his jacket in order drape it on the girl's shoulders. Gently he did his best to guide her back inside when something occurred to him. If they were to head back inside, chances are, people would want to talk to them. Madame Masseur clearly did not wish to talk to people who may want to take advantage of her and Julius himself wasn't very good at being social. "Actually...maybe...you can teach me...how to dance...if you don't mind..that is..." since there was also the chance that he might step on her.[break][break]
note: nah, i am all for this. and omg noel is soooo cute.
[attr="class","box"]swear to god snow, i truly never saw you and stars the same way again. also the icon is very matching to your template situation XD.
ahem, so pretty much we touched on this before but sei interns in the same office that julius works at so the two know each other. julius totally tries to be a good mentor for sei even though they are literally only three years apart. i imagine the two get along with each other decently enough. like they aren't close due to how withdraw/reserved each of them are. but i do imagine that julius does want sei to do well and become a prosecutor, if only because he wants that for anyone that wants to follow that path. so any questions sei has, julius would do his best to guide him. however, well like most of my characters julius is horrible socially awkward only this time it's to the point where he may act robotic until there's something that really gets to him.
but also can you imagine if the two find out they have powers? and while julius had just recently gotten his powers and trying to figure things out, i imagine for sei it would be more natural. because you know, the power was given to julius, but it has always been with sei. so can you imagine, just if sei mentors julius in understanding magic? both of their magic also depends on using something that is already there, rather than creating it out of thin air. so it's similar, and just the two bonding over not only magic but also law. and maybe hunting down youmas and corrupted together, although i can imagine julius would often be worried about sei. so that could possibly cause some conflict because hey, sei has been doing this longer than julius or if not, he have had his power (whether or not he used it) much longer. and while julius might have a headstart on law, he didn' thave a headstart on magic. so yeah, that could be interesting.
A misunderstanding, not exactly a surprise but a disappointment nonetheless for Julius. He really needed to learn how to phrase things better. Despite his appearance, it wasn't that the male did not know how to feel. When someone explains it to him fully, he would like to think he can understand at least a little bit. Perhaps not entirely because he wasn't them. He couldn't feel the exact same as them and to juxtapose himself over them like that, was just insulting. However, it was more than that. Social cues were hard for him to catch on. He might notice the movement (in fact he often did) but that didn't mean he knew what they meant. How much of it was just a natural tick and how much of it was them trying to say something.[break][break]
"It's not that..." he started before bitting his lips in contemplation. Just how was he supposed to say this? His fingers stopped its rhythmic drumming and now he found himself gripping onto the rail. Sometimes, Julius wished he was more outgoing as a child, then he would talk to many more people and being able to read, understand and react to people wouldn't be so difficult. "I'm not rich..." which really, should be quite obvious with how he bought the cheaper brooch. "So..I...can't image...going to parties like this...every week." He can see the time management that would be and perhaps he to some extent he can understand the mental exhaustion as well. However, because Julius wasn't rich, he couldn't fully understand how it must feel. "I don't know..what to say...to make you...feel better..." and perhaps that was one of the reasons why Julius was better suited to being a prosecutor rather than a cop. He can put the criminals behind bars, he can tear down contradictions in order to drag out the truth but he couldn't comfort someone. He couldn't be like a cop who can comfort someone who was facing trouble and give them advice. He couldn't be like a medic who could collectedly calm someone down even when they were in pain. He couldn't be a therapist who has the perception to understand what a person needs to hear. Even if he wanted to help, Julius simply couldn't. It was honestly rather frustrating and one of the reasons why really, he shouldn't be the one here right now. Someone else would have been able to help her...assuming they wouldn't try to take advantage of how young the girl was that is. [break][break]
The least he could do was really listen to her, in a similar way that he used to listen to his friends whenever something happened. When someone wasn't looking for an answer, just someone to talk to. Julius was at least capable of doing that much, and so that was what he offered her. However, there were some people that also wanted time alone when they faced troubles. The prosecutor was one of them.[break][break]
Madame Masseur's questions, along with her sudden sharp movements, caught him off guard even if the only reason she got was a small arch of the brow. It wasn't that she was wrong. Julius was rather horrible in social situations and he would very much prefer to be at home reading a book right now. However, he was here and he might as well try to make something out of it right? The male gave a small nod of acknowledgement as he tried to figure out how to explain this. It wasn't like he was seeking the girl out, he did not even know of her standing until this conversation. If anything, he had came out here to get some fresh air and to get away from people. So again, he had not actively look for her but he hadn't turned away either. Instead, he was having a conversation or at the very least a pale imitation of one.[break][break]
"Because you were out here," the answer was rather simple wasn't it? "I...walked out because I don't like crowds and...well you were here first. You looked familiar...and it would have been rude to not greet you. So...here we are now...in this conversation," came the explanation that might have sounded condescending due to his rather apathetic tone. Truly though, he wasn't sure how else to explain it. "And during this conversation...you show signs of discomfort with the party. I...wanted to help..." even if he too was not very good at these kinds of social gatherings. However, it was quite obvious that it was not getting to him as much as it was to this girl. This was not his constant life, this was nothing more than a special exception of his normal schedule. It was different for Madame Masseur who in fact had to show up to this party every other week when most people her age (judging by her appearance anyway) would be enjoying their life with their friends or whatever hobby they have.
Julius was unsure of how the girl had been rude but gave a nod nonetheless if only to appease to her guilt. Her cheeks having a slight pink to them that made the male wonder if she was, in fact, getting hot rather than cold. He wasn't exactly medically intuned so for all he knew, it could also be her body's way of trying to warm itself up..without shivering. Hmm...that didn't sound right, not even to him. Embarrassment perhaps? The girl did apologize so clearly she thought she did something wrong. Yes, that sounded more likely.[break][break]
The girl merely arched a brow and Julius, in turn, tilted his head curious as to what she wanted but unable to fully read her intent. Was she doubting him? Well in truth, he couldn't say he blamed her. He asked her what she was doing here and for a moment, he felt like the night has gone dark and there was now a spotlight on the girl...like a theatrical play. She tells him her story of how she not only own the stored that he had bought from but also how rich people had chased after her. it sounded almost like what he saw on tv, that for a moment he wondered if she was parodying it. However, that didn't feel right. She was clearly younger than him, for her to own a company at such a young age, there would be people who would want to take advantage of that. [break][break]
The prosecutor obtained more information than he had thought he would and in truth he wasn't sure what to do it with. Or rather, he didn't know how to comfort her. Moreau would be much better at this than he would but the man was most likely inside right now. He was almost thankful when she asked him a question. It gave him time while still doing his best (but still most likely haphazard attempt) in carrying out the information.[break][break]
"I'm not," came the confession as he drummed his pale fingers on the railing, "I'm not good with...people." It was something many people catch on...eventually. There were also those that simply thought Julius was standoffish and arrogant with how unpersonable he was. He understood that, and he understood how he needed to change that. However, it was hard to talk to other people for him. "I'm a prosecutor," he informed her, "and I got invited by another prosecutor as his plus one. He wanted me to come here to try to make connections." To which, Julius had a feeling he wasn't doing a very good job. He was barely able to carry out most of the conversations he found himself in during this party. [break][break]
"I..don't know how you feel..." despite the fact that Julius was a prosecutor which did have a good starting salary, he was far from rich. He still needed to build his way up if he wanted to become rich. Not that it was his goal even if it would be nice to not have to any financial worries. Then again, he also wouldn't be fully sure what he would do with all the money a stereotypical rich person had. "But..." but what? He understands? He didn't. He sympathized with her? People don't react to pity well, or at least Julius certainly didn't. "I...you helped me pick a brooch." This was why Julius really should only talk in the courtroom. Conversations were always so difficult. "If you want to..talk...I'll listen." That was all he could really offer her wasn't it?[break][break]
"Or...if you prefer to be alone..." he could leave her to her thoughts if that was what she wanted. Although from his own experience, people don't tend to want to isolate themselves for too long. And in all honesty, he didn't want to really leave the balcony either. "Have you been too a..." normal party? No, that didn't sound right. "small party before?" Was that better?
There was not much of a reaction from the magician. The most Julius received was a small tilt of the head, facial expression remaining the same. It almost reminded him of the dolls in horror movies his friends would take him to around Halloween. Once it ended, the prosecutor asked to see a trick to which the carnival member agreed.[break][break]
It was honestly rather amazing. Not the trick itself or rather not just the trick itself. The trick was rather amazing for someone who did not know the technique behind it (but of course there would be some kind of sleight of hands) as much as the man's words. That charisma that he lacked because while Julius was able to create an argument (if his debates told him anything), he lacked the ability to be captivating. One card in hand became two..then three and then a sea of cards was on the table each timed by the man's words. Honestly, even if Julius had long outgrown his belief for magic (like most with most people, reality found a way to set into his life), he did admire those with talents in areas he did not have.[break][break]
"What is magic to you then?" Julius asked. After all, the clown had spoken in generality, it made the prosecutor rather curious, his eyes never once leaving the man. Honestly, this was not what Julius had thought he would spend his night doing when he had reluctantly accepted the invitation. But at the moment, he couldn't say he minded it either. "If you do not mind telling me, that is."
As expected, Fosse was able to easily dodge Moreau's theatrical attempt. A few who were watching this gave a chuckle. Julius can only thank the few of the clients were in the office right now and not seeing this. When the intern greeted him, the prosecutor gave a small, "Fosse," back. Julius was ready to go into his office to see what was laid on his table today. Review a few of his cases and perhaps contacting the police for a few questions just to make sure everything was perfect...or as close as he can get it. However, he only managed to take a step before Moreau gently pushed him towards the breakroom.[break][break]
"Come on Julius, we have to get you a pie before it's all gone,"the man heartily laughed.[break][break]
Did they have to?[break][break]
Regardless of how he felt (which was no, he had no bodily need to eat pumpkin pie), Julius found himself heading to the breakroom closely behind Fosse...with Moreau baring his escape. When he was there, he saw the laid out cupcakes, Fosse placing down his pie and the cookies as well. Yet, what truly caught his eyes was the pumpkin container with various kinds of candies...including hard candy. That...that was tempting, to say the least. No, he can't. That was most likely for the children who sometimes wander around or need to be taken out of the office due to sensitive information. Julius couldn't just take it. It wouldn't be fair, besides, it wasn't like he didn't have money. He could just buy it later. Yeah, just think of it like that.[break][break]
"Here, for you." Moreau's words brought Julius out of his musing as he noticed there was pie held in front of him. The twenty-four year old opened his mouth ready to say that he really didn't need it. However, before he can get that out, "Sei put a lot of effort in this, it would be bad to have it be wasted right?" Well if that was the case...can't Moreau just eat his piece too? "I'm sure he wants to hear everyone to enjoy them." The problem with trying to argue with experienced prosecutors, not only were they good at reading people but they were also quick to think of compelling arguments.[break][break]
Julus sighed in defeat before taking the plate of sliced pie. Grey eyes looked down at it before taking a small portion of it into his mouth. It wasn't bad. Quite good honestly, not that the black haired male was some pie expert. "I'm going back into my office now."[break][break]
"Okay. Don't forget to decorate it, Julius. Sei, why don't you help him?"[break][break]
"What?" Julius turned to look at the man, eyes wide. He...he had to decorate as well? He would honestly rather not. It was a waste of time. There were more important things to do like cases. The male's lip tightened into a line walking back into his office and hearing footsteps behind him. He assumed it was Fosse. Opening his office to allow himself and the intern in, the prosecutor saw that his office had boxes of unused decorations most likely in courtesy of Moreau.[break][break]
"Just ignore them," the prosecutor suggested looking at the box as if they had personally offended him. Well in a sense they did. It was one thing if other prosecutors had decided to spend some of their time decorating. It was their life but Julius wasn't going to waste his time with it. Before he could even look at the top of his paper, his office phone rang. "Prosecutor Vesper," agitation slightly slipping into his usually apathetic tone.[break][break]
"Prosecutor Vesper, so sorry for calling you early in the morning, it's attorney Barlow. I was wondering if you would have time to meet and discuss a way we can agree to close my client's case?"[break][break]
Grey eyes narrowed, of course. He knew this was coming and it was always the other side that would make the first move. "Meet me at my office at..." he glanced over at the clock, "three today. We'll talk."[break][break]
"Of course. Thank you for making time of out of your day for me," replied to what Julius can only read as a sly voice. Defense attorneys, sometimes Julius was not sure what was worse, the clients they defended or the attorneys themselves.[break][break]
"I need the blue folder, the one on the kidnapping case in the third drawer," the prosecutor instructed before something occurred to him. "Actually... let's get rid of these boxes first." These six boxes of various Halloween items. He refused to have the defense attorney see this as some kind of childish weakness. Not when Julius was still new, he refused to be underestimated. Yet just as he said that..the male gave a short pause. Civil...civil conversations. "How was your weekend?" Was...was that good? It honestly felt a bit tacked on. [break][break]
note: nope all good. tell me if you need me to edit for more things sei can actually react to though.
Julius merely stared back as the girl greeted him back, unsure how to read her comment. Either it was gentle teasing as people seemed to like to act close at parties or it was meant to be some kind of snide insult. Again, he was not exactly sure as he did not go to these kinds of things. "I don't have any plans to be a secretary," he decided to reply to that part instead. It was the easiest to reply to because well, he really had no plans to be anyone's secretary. It wasn't so much as because he looked down on them but being a secretary didn't let him put criminals in jail. It didn't give him the power to think about deals. No, it was too limiting for his goal of keeping this city safe.[break][break]
The girl shifted once again revealing more skin like she did when they first met. A part of him wondered if she was cold but it didn't seem like she noticed the exposure of her skin. He elected to not say anything for now. If she was cold, he could just offer her his jacket later, or she could also just head back inside and let him have the balcony to himself. Either one really. [break][break]
"I was invited," he answered walking over to the edge of the balcony with her but making sure to keep some space between the two that clearly showed the two as strangers rather than friends who had happened to run into each other at a party. "What about you, madame?" he asked back. It was rather unexpected to see an employee of a jewellery store show up to a party like this. Was she invited by someone as well?
Julius had never cared too much for holiday decorations. He was never exactly the decorative type and he couldn't say he really liked cleaning up afterwards either. However, many people were. They decorated not only in their house but also their workplaces from stores to restaurants to hotels. Schools even had small decorations within classrooms when he was younger and across campus, as he entered universities. Yet, before his internship, Julius would have never expected prosecutor offices to actually be decorated in holiday decors. After all, the place was usually supposed to be well...respected. The idea of adding the colors orange to the usual colors of the office was just far too strange. Back during his internship, Julius had honestly thought he walked into the wrong office and had almost walked out if it wasn't for someone calling him back in. [break][break]
Now though, he found himself helping the decoration. It wasn't like they heavily decorated the place but it certainly was there. Pumpkins as decorations on certain tables, a few hanging bats among others. At the very least, no one dressed up. Then there wouldn't be anyone who would be able to take them seriously.[break][break]
"Oh did you hear, apparently the police office in the 5th arrondissement put down a tape outline of a dead body near their break room." Julius merely blinked unable to understand why one would have such a decoration. Then again, at least it was in the backroom where there wouldn't be other people walking in on it. A small joke between cops..as long as it didn't hurt anyone. Not that the police would be able to hurt people in the first place.[break][break]
"Are we?"[break][break]
"No, no, we're not doing that.[break][break]
"Good."[break][break]
"But we do have some Halloween cookies and cupcakes in the break room. And of course, there's also Fosse. Hey, you think he would bake something for us? I'm thinking pumpkin pies."[break][break]
Julius sighed unable to understand how this man was supposed to be a prosecutor, let alone someone with ten years of experience. One would think he would be more serious during work. "We shouldn't expect anything from him?" Or at least, not expecting free food from an intern.[break][break]
As if fate was there to prove him wrong, in came Sei Fosse holding a few boxes in his hand.[break][break]
"Speak of the devil. Hey, tell me what's in the box is a treat for everyone," the oldest male winked at the youngest before theatrically slowly reaching out for the box.[break][break]
Julius can only sigh and hope that not only would Sei easily dodge the man who was clearly not truly trying and that he would not think every prosecutor was like this. Oh, please do not think every prosecutor was like this.
Unfortunately though, it did leave the prosecutor opened to the other three.
tldr: vy was an idiot that accidentally pressed edit instead of quote. so julius split up from yvette with emile. got ambushed by a skeleton and pushed her out of the way. ends up getting stabbed in his right shoulder before killing the skeleton with his bat.[break] julius:4[break]
