Chaos is known as the being that never became a star. It is everywhere and yet nowhere at the same time.
Neither good nor evil, the ultimate expression of nothingness. The antithesis of the cosmos, creation itself.
Although Chaos claims to be the very state of existence from which the first entities appeared, it cannot form into the entity it wants most.
So it has been cursed to stay in the form of a dark and shapeless void. Floating between existence and nonexistence.
Longingly watching as stars are constantly born and lives are lived. The seeds of malice had been planted, flourished and transformed Chaos into the purest form of evil.
Any chance of merely leaving without being noticed was gone when the blond had greeted him. Too bad temptation never listened to reason. Nonetheless, Julius knew that his actions can and does reflect back on the prosecution office he worked in. There was a moment of silence as he debated what to say. If he kept quiet or just walked out that could easily appear as rude. "Monsieur Sandrine," he greeted back dully.[break][break]
There were two of them and only one table. Even if they did not know each other, they could very well easily share the same table or at least the umbrella. Logically speaking, it would make the most sense so that neither of them would become wet. Yet despite how Julius may look, he was not a creature of absolute logic. Like any other humans, emotions do coerce him to have certain wants. "I can find another place," he stated as if the mere thought of sharing did not occur to him. The offer hung in the air as gray eyes stared into gold ones, waiting to see what the other would say.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Work was over and Julius was heading to his apartment opting to head through the park. There were most likely a lot of people taking public transportations right now and he had never exactly been good around crowds. It wasn't that he got agitated around them as much as he just found them to be far too suffocating. Large amounts of people always seem to tire him out somehow with too many things to focus on. Having just finished work, the prosecutor could not say he was exactly energetic at the moment...if he ever had been energetic before. [break][break]
Unfortunately, as he walked through the park it started to drizzle. Gray eyes squinted at the sky rather unamused with the weather at the moment. With a small sigh, he hurried over to find some shelter at the park. Unfortunately, during his search, the rain picked up and for a moment Julius wondered if he should have just taken public transportation or even a taxi. However, it was too late now as the rain started to pick up. Not wanting his clothes to be drenched, Julius picked up his steps and barely managed to find a picnic area with a roof over the table. The prosecutor found himself practically running over to get away from the rain just because it became a heavy downpour.[break][break]
Good. Julius looked back at the rain momentarily wondering how long he will have to stay here. Well, it wasn't like he had anyone to meet up with. Gray eyes then turned towards the table and without the distance and rain blurring his view, he noticed that there was already someone else there. It was a rather familiar figure...the prosecutor could have sworn he saw this person before. His eyes squinted before it hit him...ah...yes...Sandrine, a defense attorney in training with who knew how many mentors. The person seemed to switch them on a dime even if all he did was sit and watch. Julius only knew about him from the few times a defense attorney would come up to introduce himself. He never truly understood why some defense attorney would want to have a chat with him after a court case. However, he was quite certain that he had been introduced to this person in front of him at least twice by two different attorneys. Slowly, Julius found himself looking back out at the rain debating if perhaps the magic even to him would actually not make his body sick from the rain. Should he take that chance? In all honesty...it was almost tempting.
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Barely there, just in the area...and light shows. Julius had never been so thankful that he did not emote and instead merely gave a small nod of acknowledgement. "I see." Well that was good then. He didn't lose the only family member he had left nor did his brother get thrown into this circumstance. Everything fine, he was safe. [break][break]
"Busy," Julius answered unsure of what more he should or could even say. He wasn't exactly allowed to talk about his cases due to sensitive information. He gave a nod at what the older Vesper said and the two headed over to the counter. It was then that he saw a familiar white haired boy. Ah...right..he worked here. "I'll have some black tea," Julius ordered if only because of his distaste for coffee. Seeing as this was a cafe, that should be an option. Slowly he turned over to look at his brother waiting to see what the man would answer. And also just to remind himself that Alex was indeed safe.[break][break]
Julius wasn't the only Vesper in the world.[break][break]
The young prosecutor opened his mouth but found himself unable to grasp onto the right words. He promptly shut them with a small frown cursing his inability to communicate like a normal person. Soon though he managed to open them once again, "how has school been?"
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
Julius merely blinked not registering the joke that Alex had just made. While he wouldn't say he was looking all that bad (especially in comparison to yesterday night) he doubted he looked as good as he would like to. His clothes were most likely ruffled by the rush over and while he was hardly unpresentable, he could have definitely looked better. Gray eyes squinted for a moment before just deciding to nod. Saying anything contradictory might worry the older Vesper, which was something he wanted to avoid. He had moved out partially because that was what was expected but also because he did not wish to burden Alex anymore than he already has. He wasn't going to have his brother still be worried about him, he was twenty-four.[break][break]
A prank...Alex had thought it was a prank. Even more though was that his brother had been there somewhere and Julius...Julius hadn't been there to protect him. Had prioritized the people in front of him first. There was a wave of guilt because Alex could have died even though Julius was there. Yet, the man was laughing because to him it had been a mere prank. In other words, he couldn't have actually been in the area then. There were people who have died there after all. "Yeah. Nothing bad happened to me though." Or well nothing fatally bad anyway. Julius knew he could have outright lied and said he didn't go out that night at all. It would have been in his character but directly lying to Alex was something he never found himself able to do.[break][break]
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
After the incident had been over when Julius was home and away from others, the first thing he had done was call Alex. His heart pounding in his chest but it wasn't from the adrenaline of the chaos that had been his Halloween. No, it was from the fear and panic that had not ceased.[break][break]
Was Alex safe? Was Alex alright? Was Alex hurt? Was Alex at home? Was Alex outside?[break][break]
The constant questions pertaining to his brother constantly hounded at Julius as he stood there, breath stilled and waiting. Please pick up, just pick up Alex. Just pick up the phone so Julius would know. A click...a click that signalled to Julius that there was at least someone on the other side. A voice that told him it was Alex and Julius let out the breath he had held. He greeted his brother with his usual apathetic tone stating that he heard what had happened in the 7th arrondissement and wanted to know if Alex had been there. The two didn't talk much, because Julius's mind had honestly been exhausted, and promised to meet up the next day after Julius was finished with work and before Alex had his night class.[break][break]
Because Julius was registered to have been at the scene (as he had made the call to the police), Maurice had told him to take it easy. He didn't. He couldn't take it easy. Just because he was tired didn't mean that there were no investigations to look over or cases to prepare for. He had never been so thankful for caffeinated tea with four cubes of sugar before.[break][break]
When work was over, Julius had hurriedly walked out giving the briefest of goodbyes and not exactly waiting to hear Maurice gave his usual 'you did a good job today' or to scold him for not exactly taking it easy. He had someone he needed to see. Even if all logic would point out that Alex was at the very least not dead, the young prosecutor still needed to see it for himself. [break][break]
Just in case.[break][break]
His shoulders were stiff as he hurriedly walked over to the cafe they agreed to meet at. The one that was close to Alex's school so he would not be late for class. When gray eyes spotted his brother, there was a huge wave of relief. His shoulders relaxed as he walked over and took a seat. "Alex," he greeted his brother with a small nod, his eyes inspecting the male for any injuries. There weren't any...that was showing anyway. "How...was your Halloween?'
[newclass=.nologicimg]height:70px;width:70px;padding:15px;background-color:#222222;border-radius:100%;float:left;margin:20px 25px 0px -35px;[/newclass]
A card, and Julius was reminded of when he first met the magician. How he had merely thought it was a wire trick at the time. But now, now something was telling him it was different. For one, why would someone use a wire card in battle? It didn't make sense and the way it moved, it wasn't so much in a straight line. It was too complex. Julius wondered for a moment just what the movement was back then. Also, he had a different explanation now, one that made sense to what the man had asked him about back then.[break][break]
Magic.[break][break]
Before Julius could give him a questioning look or try to take out the skeleton he had distracted, there was a crack of lighting followed by the roar of thunder. The suddenness made the prosecutor look up to hear a voice roaring in the sky. Grey eyes squinted before looking at the skeletons only to see that they have retreated. On one hand, he hoped that it was over. However, the booming voice told him otherwise. Someone had apparently returned and Julius had a feeling that it wasn't going to be good.[break][break]
Slowly he looked back to his group. Of the five, he knew that three can use magic for sure, one certainly couldn't while the last one was unknown. And really, it wasn't like he could just casually ask this, not without possibly without causing a giant mess to deal with after this. The male bit his lips in contemplation, it was best to go with certainty in this situation...especially with his injured shoulder. Julius wasn't really sure to what extent he can protect someone right now. "You, he started pointing the blue-haired man with his bat, "please take miss Emile away from this scene. Find the police and stay with them." As for how to get the other two to go with him without looking like he was specifically choosing them. "As for the rest, come with me. We'll see if we can find any other survivors." Did that...did that sound alright? Well, it wasn't like Julius had time to really contemplate on his words.[break][break]
Not wanting to give them too much time to react (or worse, argue with him), Julius started to run in the direction of where the skeletons were not exactly attacking them as it didn't seem as if they were actively trying to hurt anyone. As he continued to follow them at a distance, he noted how they seem to be gathering more and more.[break][break]
Just what was going on?[break][break]
tldr: noticed Cassian Gérard 's magic and acknowledges as such now. instructed ENZO PATEL to take Émilie Cadence and run. instructs Cassian Gérard and YVETTE YAMAMOTO to come with him before following the skeletons to Les Invalides. [break] how many grunts left: 20[break]
Julius could not believe he was doing this. It wasn't that he never played a video game before, of course, he has. There were people older than him who have played video games, some even still do to this day. It was just...he had a very selective type of games that he enjoyed playing. Namely mystery and puzzle games, which was probably what had once inspired him to try to be a detective. However, the machine he stood in front of was neither a puzzle or a mystery game. It wasn't even a platformer where all he had to do was jump around. Oh no, it was a shooting game that went under the name of Chrono Crisis. The screen demanded the insertion of coins before the plastic gun linked to the machine would be of any use.[break][break]
A sigh parted from his lips as he looked around feeling awkward. He really stood out in this place. To think, this was what he was doing on his day off. Almost hesitantly he placed the demanded amount of coins and the announcer declared that 'player one' is now active. Next, he picked up the gun and he was presented with the first level of the game. They played some scene that seemed like it belonged in some eighties action movie before he was given control. Instantly, he started to shoot at the digital humans only to find himself missing most of the shot. Although apparently, he did a very good job at slamming his foot on the pedal to duck and reload. [break][break]
It was just that he didn't even get past the first level before time had run out with the game demanding more money in exchange for a continue. As if, anyone would want to continue playing a game where the purpose was to shoot people indiscriminately. Gray eyes narrowed at the screen, "just how does anyone enjoy this?" he couldn't help but ask. If it wasn't for the fact that he needed some practice aiming for when youmas attack, he would never touch such a horrible game.
Domestic abuse, this wasn't exactly the first time Julius had seen a case file for it but it was certainly the first time he saw it holding his position. Before then, it was only because he was an intern. Was he really the right person for this? Then again, as a prosecutor, he couldn't exactly always choose his job. He needed to be versatile and if he wanted to help everyone, that had to include abuse victims as well. A sigh parted from his breath as he knew how hard these can be to win. Most of the time it was almost a game of 'he says, she says' and it makes it hard to track down the truth to reveal. The investigation hasn't even fully started yet as this paper was merely what the police station has given him after the woman had pressed charges.[break][break]
The woman certainly was not rich but he wouldn't say that she was poor either. She had a modest job as a secretary for a small stock company. That should be enough money for her to live in a small apartment should she leave. So that did beg the question of why she didn't just leave the man before now. The pictures itself was not exactly good to look at. The bruises had slightly worn away but it had obviously been there. There were a few scars as well but there were all on the body and not the face. In other words, this wasn't something that was uncommon if the person knew this, at least according to the report. [break][break]
A sigh parted from his lips, abuse victim. No pressure there. A quick glance at the clock told Julius that the woman, Amanda Hearth, should be coming soon. A part of him wondered if he should try to hand this off to someone instead. No...once again, he was going to have to do this eventually. Steeling what little resolve, he had, the prosecutor stood up and walked out to the front desk to meet with them. Julius recognized the brunette with brown eyes from the picture, that was Miss Hearth alright but who was the person next to her?[break][break]
"Miss Hearth, I am Julius Vesper, the prosecutor for your case." Despite the fact that Julius sounded as if he was on her side, he knew that he really wasn't. Not yet. It wasn't that he didn't want to help her but he wasn't exactly sure why she couldn't just leave or put a restraining order on the man. Why come to a prosecutor? Again, he was sure there had to be more to this. Gray eyes then trailed over to the person standing beside her. "We can talk more in my office," he stated expecting the stranger with white hair to leave. Yet, what he found instead was Amanda holding tightly onto the stranger. Well...this was...odd.[break][break]
That was true, Officer Knight did have a habit of buying more food than she needed. Or at least according to her. Julius had his own theory but it was one that he would never dare say out loud. It was just...this habit has been going on for at least over a year and it was not as if the woman did not know. She had commented on it, and for her to not think about saving it for later. Well, she wanted to have a healthy lifestyle and as long as she wasn't starving herself it should be alright. yet at the same time, Julius wouldn't really say she should be all that concerned about her weight...should his theory be correct. [break][break]
The prosecutor merely gave a nod to the explanation only for her to offer him the muffin. "Thank you," he stated before taking the muffin and having a small bite from it. Chocolate chip muffin and tea...well in all honesty, Julius has had stranger combinations than that before. Such as instant noodle with instant hot chocolate. The life of someone who didn't exactly cook. So really, it wasn't like the prosecutor was eating the healthiest meals. Of course, he didn't advertise that either. It was truly a good thing that Officer Knight did not know too much about his personal life.[break][break]
His question caused Officer Knight to tilt her head in contemplation before she gave him her answer. Julius gave a small nod, yes Lourve, it was not the nicest of districts. In fact, one may even call it a slum. The prosecutor himself had honestly avoided going there when possible due to how dangerous it was. However, the mention of odd things did make the male arch a brow. "What curious happenings?" he asked. He doubted it could be magic but well...maybe? There was now a chance of it. If that was the case, he may have to go there to see for himself. "The muffin is good by the way," he offered as something of an afterthought. Even though Officer Knight was not the one that had baked the muffin, she did give it over to him and people do seem to react well to validation.[break][break]
"I'm glad you have an easier day today," Julius commented before he realized how that must have sound. "I mean less dangerous. Not that, you cannot handle yourself Officer Knight but..." but accidents happen whether it was from carelessness or just bad luck. Despite the training police were given, they weren't invincible. Julius would know and although he understood it was part of the job, he really would rather not have anyone on the force die. "I hope the desk work isn't boring you too much," he ended (perhaps rather randomly) on a joke even if his apathetic face and voice may say otherwise.
"a police officer who is still new. we see each other and sometimes work together. she puts a lot of effort in each of her case, i have to make sure they do not go to waste."
"officer knight is a police officer i often work with during cases. she has been in the force much a bit longer than i have in the office so i am trying my best not to hold her back."
"a girl i met twice. she helped me choose a brooch and taught me how to dance a little bit. i hope she is doing well or at least is a little bit happier than the last time i saw her.
"he's an intern at the office who seems to have the potential to be a good prosecutor. because of that, i am doing my best to mentor him...although i am not sure how i am doing in that area.
"our first meeting didn't go well but that's mainly my fault. i can only hope he didn't end up in too much trouble. my shirt and coat somewhat made it out of that incident."
"alex has always been there for me, he's the only family i have left. when everyone else kept the secrets about my praents from me, he was the one that told me. he also raised me growing up, in all hoensty i wouldn't be who i am today without him."
"i do not know much about enzo but he is a brave man willing to fight even without his powers. although...trying to fight the leader for a camera was rather strange. i cannot really say, i understand his logic."
"a magician i met before i made that contract with io. he had brought up the existence of magic and recently i learned, that was because he has it. he most likely know more about magic than i do, hopefully i can come in contact with him to ask questions."
"oscar is someone to be respected for his talents, he was able to open up a shop by himself without help unlike me. he is someone i find very easy to talk about as well. i look forward to when we talk to each other outside of his work."
"i have no respect for those like him. i will simply have to make sure he doesn't cause trouble for others due to his own ego."

"i respect merlin for what he had done for the world but i do not agree with some of his current actions. nonetheless, i still plan to help him in mentoring jayce as it is important for that boy to be able to defend himself and hopefully others in the future."
Julius didn't blame Officer Knight for being surprised by his presence. It wasn't that he had a distaste for cafes. Actually, he was quite fond of small cafes and have had a few book club meetings in them before. Then again, it wasn't like he was very vocal about what he did outside of work to others. It was probably one of the reasons why Maurice was still trying to find a hobby for him to this day even though he stated that reading was fine. "Lunch break," he stated as if those two words would explain everything. It probably didn't but he wasn't exactly sure of how to explain why he was at this particular cafe. He didn't exactly have a preferred cafe after all, as long as they served tea well enough. Gray eyes cast over to the outside rain...which was probably the true answer as to why he was here. He needed the shelter away from them.[break][break]
Fortunately, Officer Knight spared him the embarrassment of his rather horrible statement. Whether she did it because she did not wish to make this awkward or out of courtesy, he didn't know. Then again, he supposed it didn't really matter either. The woman pushed the muffin over to prosecutor stating that it was most likely fresh and had chocolate chips in it.[break][break]
"It's yours," he replied back shaking his head. The male can afford his own muffin if he chose to. He just didn't because he hadn't actually planned to eat here...although he might have to reconsider. "Aren't you hungry?" he couldn't help but ask. The fact that she bought more than one muffin would say so but yet she was so ready to share some with Julius, who she clearly did not expect to have been here at the cafe. In other words, she had clearly intended to buy it for herself.[break][break]
There was a small pause as the male looked back out the window and sighed. It didn't look like the rain would let up any time soon. He could very well run back to the prosecutor office...maybe stuff his book underneath his coat and pray for the best. A glance at the clock told him he still had time though and it might be better to wait a little longer. He had some company anyone, one that didn't exactly force him to talk too much. Which was honestly good, Julius was not very good at talking.[break][break]
"Are you on patrol or at the desk today?" Julius elected to ask out of curiosity rather than some obligation to make some conversation. He had always been curious about the life of a police officer. Once upon a time, he had considered becoming an officer until he realized he wasn't very fit for it. He couldn't exactly follow in his parent's footsteps.
Omg yeah I am so up for that! Thank you so much for taking up the wanted ad~. You wanna go on discord to hash details out or pm or you wanna do it here?
There was something familiar about that voice but Julius couldn't exactly put his finger on it. Curious, he finished the paragraph that he was on before looking up to see who it was that was now sitting across from him. Gray eyes widen at the sight of the woman that he knew. Well maybe not known in the sense that they were close to one another. Familiar with...yes...that was much more fitting. She was someone he was familiar with, a figure that he had seen and perhaps he may have greeted in passing here and there when he was in the police station.[break][break]
Officer Knight.[break][break]
Instantly he closed his book before inwardly wincing...great...he may have just lost his page because of his rush to give the woman his undivided attention. "Officer Knight," he greeted with a small curt nod. What was she doing here? Clearly, the woman had an umbrella so she wasn't hiding from the rain like Julius was. The muffin in her hand would say that she was here to eat but a muffin would hardly be filling. Was she unable to afford more? Should he offer or would that offend her? Maybe she doesn't have enough time to eat and then get back to her work? [break][break]
If they were sitting together...and somewhat knew each other (well at least he remembered her name if only because he did his best to commit every officer to memory) Julius should try to strike up a conversation. Yeah, that will turn out well with his social skills. "Nice weather we are having today," he stated in his usual bored tone before it strikes him how stupid that must have sounded. It was raining. "How's the muffin?" he decided to ask instead as he took another sip of the tea. Hopefully, that one would be better.[break][break]
note: hey just wanted to say thanks for hitting this thread up~.
Dull gray eyes looked out at the rain from inside the cafe. It was not raining just ten minutes ago when he had arrived at the cafe but what was one to expect with Autumn weather. Julius had been fortunate to be able to take a table in the corner of the cafe. Tea in hand, the male sipped at his drink as he watched people run to take shelter whether it was in the form of a building or their car. There were also those who walked around with their umbrella to prevent them from getting sick.[break][break]
Pale fingers drummed on the table as the prosecutor chastised himself for not bringing his umbrella with him. It had been in his office, and in all honesty, he had just sort of forgot that it was going to rain today. He can only hope the rain would quickly let up, it wasn't like rain in Paris ever lasted that long. A sigh parted from his lips as Julius turned to look at the rest of the cafe. A lot of the tables were filled up with at least two people...except for his own. So..there was a certain expectation that someone would come to try to sit at his table soon.[break][break]
No matter how much the man may wish otherwise.[break][break]
Not wanting to think about it, Julius tore his eyes away from the other patrons of the cafe and down at his book instead. It didn't long for a shadow to be looming over to him. He didn't even bother to look away from his book as he gave a nod. Even if he wasn't very social, the prosecutor was not going to make someone stand in the cafe for shelter. That would just be ridiculous. "Feel free."
There was a small sense of disappointment as the girl excused herself. He understood that he wasn't going to get a monopoly on her. She was a person of high power. However, before he could add that if she was going to go clubbing, she shouldn't go alone because it was dangerous, she was gone. The possibility of just chasing her did occur to him but doing so may cause rumours. He doubted she would appreciate that. Hopefully, the girl would have someone to go with her. [break][break]
Julius turned to look at the moon for a bit before heaving out a sigh. His break from the party has been long enough, he really should head back and tried to talk to a few more people. The last thing he wanted to do was waste this invitation.[break][break]
note: OMG I FEEL THAT WHEN THEY DON'T LISTEN TO YOU XDDD -dying-. but yeah this looks like a good place to end the thread~.
